After You've Gone - I recommend Ella Fitzgerald or Louis Armstrong's version.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Before I dropped out of school cause covid, I was going to do my master’s thesis on music and dementia. This brings on all the emotions

@timmydans i need to rearrange my list so i get old like this

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My 90yo grandmother pops down to the hall in her retirement village to teach others how to play. Been teaching on and off for 75 years <3

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

There going to do this when I'm old, but instead of a piano it'll be an Xbox controller.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Think that's James Morrison on trumpet. Anybody know the story here?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Trumpet on point!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hope to have a jam session with my buddies at that age.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Play it again Sam!

5 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

I think with this Sam you might just get the one

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Didn't tell you to never play that tune in here again"

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The song I think is called The Nearness of You. By Dinah Shore.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's After You've Gone, Ella Fitzgerald has a wonderful rendition, but I am partial to Louis's

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, they did make a lot of songs together. Even The Nearness of You has a Louis and Ella version.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That’s great; they didn’t do this one though.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now, me being musically dense and all, is this an actual song or are they jamming?

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

protip: once you've played it, its a song :)

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The song is After You’ve Gone. :(

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Probably just jamming from a tune they used to play back in the day.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Given the trumpet player doing the left hand (bass notes) stuff for him since he seems to only be able to use one hand, is day is an 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Existing song. That's not saying it's not possible to improvise those, but it's definitely harder 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Give it up for the trumpet player also handling the bass notes on the piano!

5 years ago | Likes 664 Dislikes 0

How many bass players does it take to change a lightbulb? None we just let the keyboard player do it with his left hand.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That’s his Killer Queen flugelhorn!

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yes, but look at that left hand go!

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It’s James Morrison, he’s a monster Aussie Jazz musician!

5 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

Anyone know where this is from?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Yes, Dr Who.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Specifically season 1 of the dr who reboot. He was the worst doctor.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite doctor

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I literally quit watching dr who because of him and didn't get back into it for years when another girl i dated tried to get me into it

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here dude!!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But you said he was your favorite?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Friend told his 95 year old grandma he didn't think he wanted to live to 95. She said, "You will when you're 94."

Getting old scares the shit out of me.

5 years ago | Likes 1212 Dislikes 7

It's possible to stay physically fit and mentally sharp up until death, bro. Just gotta work on it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My mom had a massive stroke last April, took a few months to lose everything. Can't communicare, been stuck in a home all quarantine. So sad

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What you are scared of is to experience the loss of what you hold dear now. It's OK. We all do. But for most, old age brings good things 2

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Doesn't scare me because I don't expect to live that long. My retirement plan is to hit 60 and start doing drugs like Keith Richards.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No need , enjoy life and do not take it all to serious. Enjoy the moments and your loved ones, all will be ok... Stay safe.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually in med school and psychology you learn that >70% of elders (age 65+) reach a stage of content and fulfillment in their lives

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s better than the alternative.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not always. Really. (Source - am nurse.)

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Don’t be scared of growing old. Be scared of a debilitating disease that leaves you broken but not dead

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

it is better than the alternative

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a privilege not given to everyone.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Don’t worry, none of us will be able to afford nursing care, so we’ll decline very quickly in our homeless shantytowns.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If it helps, I've heard most nursing homes are hotbeds for STD's

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That actually helps a lot. Thank you!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah man, blaze of glory for me. Just gotta wait until there's nothing left to live for... Shit, now I'm old

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It should... That's what makes us live

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only if I’m old alone.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You should just work at a hospital. Then you and your wife will form a death pact for when the other person gets too old

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

“Better than the alternative” as my mother says

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Our elderly years will look nothing like this

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You just need to make friends along the way and live the best ya can, don't fret about old age, just have fun along the way

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless you're a serial killer, cause then I've created a monster

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Learning an Instrument helps

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No need to worry. With the way things are going, it's unlikely we'll get old

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Thanks that makes me feel much better ?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

stay active, lift weights regulary. Age with grace.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't fear time it comes for us all. Fear filling that time with nothing.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't fear getting old myself, but forgetting is what scares me. Seeing alzheimer in action, it is fucking scary as shit.

5 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

Being trapped in my failing body also scares me. Sometimes, going senile is the more merciful way.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My grandmother had early onset Alzheimer's. She's nearing her end now. Heart surgeon until her early 50s when she had to quit because of 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The disease. Now she's toothless and digs for feces in the toilet if she can get away. My mother left her career to care for her. I hate it.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Letting go is scary. My grandfather was terrified at the end, even with us all there. :(

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't worry, you'll get Alzheimer's.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope i go from being able to take care of myself to dead really quick. I don't want a drawn out time of needing someone to wipe my ass.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only thing worse then getting old is not getting old.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some days are better than others. If it wasn't for music, I would end it now.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don’t have to do it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The problem to me is not getting old, but possibly lose mobility or mental capacity.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

for me it's the contrary, I can't wait to be the old wise and cheeky cunt who trolls the younger generations :D

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It comes on so slowly it's not that scary. Your body will slowly break down but it's by inches, few great quick slips if you're lucky.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I fear being a burden on someone. My family being weakened by my weakening.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not me - gonna get a pooch and give it all the pets possible

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Getting old alone by myself scares the shit out of me.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't want my dad to be old.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Thats great news for people who get constipated.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have panic attacks when I think too much about the fact that one day everything just stops for me.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1
