Dude I cannot believe how good that show is. I genuinely hope it gets to the point where shitty parents have easy access to it so when they inevitably hand the tablet to their kid instead of, you know, being a parent, at least that child will have some great quality show to watch. Hell, maybe the kid will CONVINCE the shitty parent to watch it with them and LEARN something.
Bluey is the best kids show out there right now. I miss the old days of Gravity falls and adventure time. but Bluey pulls those heart strings better than most shows.
Gravity Falls isn't quite as young kid friendly as Bluey either though, Like not the worst show they could see, but not putting it on for a 4 year old.
We watched a recent episode where Bluey accused her dad of doing a 'Fluffy'/'Baking a Brownie' (farting) in her face. The whole show had the family acting out a courtroom trial with judge (mum) & witnesses. Brilliant!
I'm a bit afraid to watch it, despite having a few friends who swear by it. I'm worried it's going to make me realize things about why I related so well to Malcolm in the Middle.
I direct a college pep band. I arranged the Bluey theme to play at a special game where our team invites hundreds of elementary students to a basketball game. My students still ask me to let them play Bluey at the regular basketball games. College kids. It is an intergenerational show.
I have a kid and it’s one of the few shows I actually enjoy watching with her, so I’m biased…. But it’s also a very fun song. There’s a ton of bands in different genres who have covered it.
I'm 35. Have no kids, want no kids. I was at my niece's birthday party a few years back and one of her friends and parents were there with the baby brother who wouldn't stop crying unless Bluey was on. So I was just sitting there, watching it because it's the only thing to really do. As I watched, I thought to myself "Yo, this show is actually really good. This writing is awesome." Now I watch it regularly. It's brilliant!
YASSSSS! I just started getting into Bluey with my kid who is 3. It's beautiful, wistful, melancholic, joyful, and nostalgic. The soundtrack is wonderful. I have the music from Rain playing in my head currently. I get feels during EVERY episode. ♥️
Everyone loves camping. That one wasy favorite and always makese cry, until cricket came out. Now both episodes make me cry, but I love cricket a touch more than camping
I always felt, as a parent, the episodes about kids growing up hit the hardest. It's the part of life I've forgotten as an adult. Growing up is hard and scary sometimes. Makes me more empathetic with the littles when they are having big feelings sometimes
I love that when they made Stickbird, the producers or whoever asked the creator if there's anything wrong happening in this life. They were concerned, aaaw
I've been criticized for watching a 'kids show' as a 39 year old man (and I did watch MLP as well) and I'm sorry that I'm watching a cartoon that *checks notes* teaches you things and has a positive message, and not one of the 400 reality TV shows that teaches me to hate 'House Wives of "
I've never watched it, but as an Australian I'm so fucken proud that there are now American toddlers developing Australian accents because of this show.
Sorry mate, considering the population of India, you are significantly outnumbered by those of us that love cricket. Here's a tip, stinking hot day in an Aussie summer, test cricket is on the telly, the barby is going, the beer is cold, sit back an enjoy.
I like the theory that it's a writer-insert moment. "When you put something beautiful into the world, it's not really yours anymore", referring to something even as special as Bluey getting its own share of toxic criticism or maybe even inappropriate fans.
That, or it's a bit of existentialism from his kids growing up. I'm not too sure about the idea that it has to do with archaeology.
I mean, uh, what? What sort of children's cartoon is this? I'm a grown ass man!
So seems like it's a bit of both. Inspired by his own creative frustrations but he left it vague so it could be our insert too and to make the point of not ruminating over life's challenges.
My money is on some sort of health scare. The one with the yard sale and his weight, the vitamins at the convenience store. Makes more sense to me than work related theories I've seen floated.
Eh, I think it's more likely the health issue is age related so surfing is getting back to youth. But yes thank you, I forgot that was one of my reference points too.
Only way I see them going fairly dark with it would be if they do death, or mental decline of Bandits rarely seen father or something. Which could tie into his own health and mortality, (Wants to be around for his kids longer, sort of thing.) Seems unlikely though, but then they have dealt with miscarriage's and such, so who knows.
It's not a theory. Joe Brumm literally mentioned this in the bluey podcast. He had been getting a lot of notes on the writing and that was a bit frustrating for him
Also looking into the quotes now he specifically said "“It’s not important what [Bandit’s] worrying about,” Brumm said. “I mean, take your pick, right? … it could be a health thing, it could be a work thing, it could be a relationship thing, it could be something with the kids..." Yes inspired by his real life creative troubles but specifically left vague to be relatable.
Feel like people were floating the career related idea when those episodes first came out, if he says otherwise then Ok good to know. Doesn't seem to add up with all the other stuff going on in that part of the season. but that's fine, it's his show and it's generally spectacularly well made and it's not hurting the product as a whole.

It's a good show and it occasionally does the episode with a message targeted at the parents more than the kids. (looking at you, Stickbird)

Looking at you Early Baby.

Apparently the creator explained it in a recent Bluey behind-the-scenes podcast episode

Sleepytime is one of the most beautifully conceived things I've ever seen. The message at the end wrecks me every time.

I am starting to watch this with our kiddo, and there's definitely been a few moments here and there that are lessons for us olds.

Cricket was good, Very spiderman. With Great power comes great responsibility.

Baby race was so sweet. Made my sister watch it

Cricket was a great episode.

Cricket is actually the one bad episode of the show. It's irresponsible to pretend cricket is a real sport that people understand.
