Teenagers leaving a party crashed their car through our living room a little before 2am. My husband had his headphones in and was painting at the time. He got bruised on the leg, but luckily everyone is OK. We were supposed to have a open house next weekend, and put the place on the market. Guess that’ll have to wait...

now install a bay window for half the price

I hope those teens really get it... so much damage and this kind of behavior could get worse

Wow! They just drove up the price with that new open concept bay window!

American stick and cardboard houses continue to amaze me. I know it's economical and time-tested but still... Can't wrap my head around it.

Glad everyone’s okay! And on the bright side you’ll definitely have more natural lighting, buyers love that!

Now you can remodel and get rid of that hideous chimney breast.

As an insurance adjuster: God damnit people...

Did they just back out and leave?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Firemen backed it out and cops had it towed.

I love the open concept.

Bloody heck! I’m glad to hear that no one was badly injured. I hope everything turns out ok and isn’t too stressful for you and your family

Why did this get downvoted?

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 5

Probably because I said bloody? Maybe? IDK, it doesn’t matter anyway lol.

What are your walls made of? Papier mache?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

do you see bricks everywhere? let me guess you want to tell me how your 500 year old house in England is made of stone/concrete.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nah, my 6 y/o one in Spain is.

You greatly underestimate the force of 3000lbs in motion.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I think the car does it too... The wall barely scratched it.

Taking open concept to a whole new level.

Call me when you can do unscripted jumps from floor to floor of hi-rises

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A) what does that have to do with anything B) why are you getting defensive over a comment that wasn't directed at you, or at anyone at all?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not being defensive, it's just something I'd like to see.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Based on my observation that open concept floor plans don't typically include cars in the living room?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought you meant 'open world' by 'open concept', rather than the interior design term.

I like to think that the first picture was your husband right after the crash. Like he was texting and, "Oh. A car"

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He was trapped over there for a minute. Didn’t realize until afterward that I’d posted the pic with him in it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was there. That's what happened.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The only thing that survived in that room was the easela and me.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad the easel survived. Dunno what your wife would've done without it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Little bastards! Let's hope the car has insurance!

8 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 1

They supposedly have liability and we have home owners insurance. Im sure we’re in for an ordeal with that battle.

8 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 0

Best-case scenario: The insurance companies fight it out, and you don't have to do much.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All I could afford when I was a teenager was liability. But I was super super careful because of that. Heck I still am now, but anyway.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

If it does come down to a fight with the insurance, make sure to get a lawyer who deals with this sort of stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be fair, your house did get in the way of their car.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Brutal, how cold is it outside? Are you going to have to move out?

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

39 at the moment. I’ve got a space heater in another room right now. Not sure yet if we’ll head to a hotel or not.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

At 39 I'd be heading to the hotel behind my apartment.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I suspect the integrity of the structure is pretty well compromised. Insurance will ask you to vacate I would assume at this point.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

You're probably right, but most insurance covers the cost of a hotel/rental house till it's fixed. (With a Max you can spend of course)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really? I doubt that hole is enough to make the house structurally unsound. Especially if it's a ranch.
