That's not how you're supposed to use that, but we also did this to develop more fast twitch in the final weeks of track season (shot putter)

Raised heels helps putting force into the ground, thats why lifting shoes are a thing. Reverse hack squats are indeed a thing and designed into the machine, just like you can do pec and back flys in the same machine

we used them to develop calfs for the final push throwing a 12 pound metal ball.

Ah we have a machine called perfect squat for that, it's similar, but easier to place your feet on the back edge of the foot plate and move up and down by hingeing your ankles full range of motion from getting on your toes to deep stretching your calves
