I think people will be happy for others but also feel as if they're slighted by having paid full tuition and struggled. The cancer argument makes it seem like theyd be mad about tuition ending... doubtful because loads of people would love to return to study but a masters costs an extortionate amount and many industries are non-commensurate with qualifications
In Trumpworld, nobody will have to worry about student loans because the only people allowed to go to college are the sons of the ultra-wealthy, and the only curriculum will be how to use extreme wealth to fuck over everyone else.
More like, "I beat cancer, and spent ten years living on canned tuna and crackers, beans and rice, and skipping meals paying off my bills. If they suddenly tell me that since I'm no longer paying my bills off, now I'm required to pay off other peoples' bills, while a senile sack of shit shill for the credit card industry takes credit for paying their bills, I'm gonna be so mad!"
And I'm IN FAVOR of student loan repayment. Think about what the people who aren't feel about it.
You could probably cure most cancers if people cared enough. First of all, there is shit support for knowledegable stem majors. Influential colleges routinely say they don't care if you have a 4.0., for them it's about legacy status or personal characteristics they shouldn't be allowed to use to discriminate. Second, even if you became a doctor studying organic chem, you are at the mercy of the rich as to who wants research done, i.e. oil companies and shallow as fk profit centers.
I’m all for student loan forgiveness. But this comparison doesn’t work. Student loans are systematic, they’re in our control to change or eliminate. Cancer is evolution, biology that we’re trying to control.
You can be fit while fighting cancer. You can also be a fat fuck that doesn't lose weight or appetite. Ask me how I know.
Spoiler, you don't have to ask: it's me, the fat fuck. I beat cancer's ass. I gained ten pounds while doing so. I saw plenty of folks that were fit while in treatment. Not all treatments are the same, not all bodies deal with them the same. Also, he could be many months past treatment. It's probably the last thing.
I'd like to say that teacher is most likely wrong...as someone going through chemo right now, I would've been dead a few years ago. Treatments have been advancing tremendously. Is it easy? Of course not. But the other option is not living...
Oh I know, it was the level of absolute dumbassery that astounded me. I just thought I'd share, but apparently I've triggered some folks so I've already been downvoted into the abyss. Oh well.
Hey man...you just repeated a horrible lie that could get people killed with no commentary or judgement. Downvotes are the correct result. I'm glad you say you don't believe that stupid, ignorant bullshit, but the fact that you're now complaining about people being triggered actually gives me some doubts.
Sadly that's one of the missing key vitamins. But there's plenty of F-18 and F-35C vitamins. You can check if the package is expired if the old F-14 vitamin is in there.
Trade schools exist, as does communal living. Needing college to succeed at life is a huge myth that for some reason just won’t go away. That reason I suspect is a cultural snobbery. A degree has become a mark of superiority to a lot of people, and they are absolutely desperate to feel better than others. Only roughly 1/3rd of the u.s population has a BA or above. 2/3rds of the country aren’t in poverty. Unless you’re one of those spoiled rich kids that’s definition of poverty is skewed.
If you want to say that everyone deserves an education then that’s fine. But posts like this misses that mark and come off as tone deaf. What this post says is that some people feel massively entitled, and not having that pedigree is somehow the equivalent to cancer. It’s actually really freakin obnoxious.
Living in a country where more people have access to higher education like medical professionals and engineers will always be a good thing. Put more thought into your beliefs ass hole.
I agree with you there. But we need to climb that obstacle one step at a time. Not everyone is cut out to be a doctor or engineer. And while it’s important to give everyone that opportunity, I’d argue it’s even more important and beneficial for society that every adult be taught how to properly budget and plan for their retirement.
No. There is no "but". I'm right. More engineers and more doctors. That's it. Make these free. Make trades free. I dont care if everyone is cutout for that. They will try. Some will fail. But thats why we have tests to get into college. I'm not saying make it free and also take everyone who applies. As for your point about it being more important to teach budgeting and retirement, cool? Doesnt matter if thats more important or not because we don't have to pick on or the other.
Ok, i agree with you that’s not good, but living from paycheck to paycheck is not the same thing as being in poverty. Making-ramen-in-a-coffee-pot poor hits differently than someone choosing subscription services and eating out over growing their emergency funds. Lots of people technically make enough money to be secure in their lives but don’t have the fiscal skills to make that happen. It’s not entirely their fault, high school is failing to prepare us for adulthood.

Ok but really I WOULD be mad, but that anger is directed at my own stupid timing

Fairly certain there has been a cure for a few cancers for a while that will never, EVER see the light of day.
emu314159127001
So beating cancer means you just have cancer in remission and are waiting to eventually die from it? Asking for a friend

“There’s no money in the cure!”- Chris Rock.

I can understand being annoyed. Or even mad. I'd be pretty mad that they didnt eliminate student loans earlier, too.

Bidens SAVE program was also shut down due to republican AL'S in different states shopped for a Republican grand jury to end it.
If the argument is "what about those that are responsible and paid off theirs?" Then offer a refund. But it isn't about that now is it?
FaithfulPuppy316
My husband paid off his student loans without assistance and he has 0 problems with helping other people pay off theirs
4bRigger
Fun side note; most cancer is probably caused by environmental hazards; we have the cure, it's called: a pollution free environment.
nomoralcompasss
In fact, you will be so mad at them finding a cure for cancer, you will want cancer to infect the ones that are in remission.
Fjorkvar
If you take out a loan, you should have to pay it back.
That being said, something needs to be done about the exorbitant price gouging our college institutions place on students.

They have had a cure for cancer for the last 50 years sadly it’s not profitable. Capitalism is the societal cancer. Deny, Defend , Depose. St. Luigi!

lol no money in cures

This is the exact argument I used on my father who thought it was unfair to forgive student loans.
maeta
Did it change anything?

I don't support forgiving student loans. Post-secondary education should be free.

It's not about the student loans. Or about the cancer. It's about human nature. It's about why we need a federal government.

Well according to my nieces teacher (public), it isn't the cancer that does you in anyways, it's the treatment like chemo and radiation.

But college doesn’t teach those basic financial skills either. They assume we already have it by that point.
