Never thought I would make it this far

You'll like the paycheck. And no that's not what it's all about, but I imagine it's nice.

What kind of engineering? I know engineers that I graduated with that now have nothing to do with engineering but love their jobs.

On the upside, you're probably be one of the last people to lose their job to robots.

My fiancé just said yesterday that an engineering degree is a degree in reliability and work ethic. Put THAT to work for you!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People hire engineers sometimes because they're smart, and because the degree is such hard work. You will be fine, @OP

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Engineering sucks the biggest donkey penis while you're in school. You'll love the 60+salary and typical work schedule while others struggle

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dude, story of my life. I only have one semester left though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm an electrical eng and I hate engineering. Worked 7yrs as a tutor, lecturer, and unit coord at my uni. Students and I loved it. ☺️

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Engineering is a doorway. Not a destination. Do it your way.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You hate engineering school, actually making things after you understand it rather than before may well be different

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

An engineering education is simply a way to prove to the world that you can think through problems logically and get things done.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am in the exact same situation, just not with engineering. Fortunately my diploma will make me wanted elsewhere, too. Yours will too. :)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ay congrats

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What major?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd offer you a beer and a hug, if I could. Been there, pushed through the last shitty exams, was worth it. Stay strong.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP Did a mech. eng. degree & hated it, now I mix bands for a living & love it! It's not a life-ending mistake. Good luck :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No joke 4 months left still hate it but realized I hated it 3 yeaars in..too late

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots of related jobs you can look for. Or use it to get into med school

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Or law school, patent lawyers clean up because not many people have engineering and law backgrounds

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where I live you need really good grades to get into med school, and it's tough to get that high an average in engineering.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Having the same problem

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What discipline?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dad studied mechanical engineering in college. His job title now is sales director for latinamerica for Doosan.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh my god! I'm right there with you! I'm 3 years in... money is good so I'll stay for a while haha

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fact that you felt the need to say you're a girl I'm engineering probably means you're not cut out for it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Still, the skills you've learned will be super useful in a lot of other fields and will differentiate you a lot.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh man I understand you sooooo well !! And moreover I have such bad grades now!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Getting an engineering degree doesn't limit you to engineering jobs. Friend experiences say it opens up other opportunities.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

This! Also having degree doesn't prevent from getting another once you find the thing your looking for. -B.E. in IT

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots of places will hire you just because they need an engineer to sogn off on things. Doesn't even need to be in the same field as degree

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Same thing here, didn't want to be an engineer. But you can still do something else with the diploma. I became teacher.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Exactly what I am planning to do with my vet's diploma when I finally graduate!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I find the money to be good enough to put up with what engineering in the real world actually is

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife has an education degree and I have a BS in chemistry. She's a seamstress and I'm a QC tech (no chemistry involved, sadly)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What kind of teacher,

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not all jobs that want engineers is a direct use of engineering. So um, good luck ladybro!

9 years ago | Likes 268 Dislikes 2

Yeah, a woman i talked to went to Princeton for engineering and ended up working on software for Goldman Sachs

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a recent computer engineering undergraduate who now works in a totally different field, you can do it!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Packaging Engineer. Seriously, do it. You'll be bored out of your intelligent little mind but you'll be set for life.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

engineer here working in oil industry. don't use anything l learned in college. they just teach me all I do... worth it!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My CEO is an engineer! (And he makes 10 mil/year!)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Damn, man. Should have been an engineer...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's got a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA to be fair, so there is kind of that... but he's an engineer nonetheless!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad's an EE and literally has always been in sales.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, 5th year electrical engineering, hate the course, but now I'm working with Sales Operations, and I have found my calling. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I feel like engineering show how hard you can work, and how much you can learn. Good luck!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

True dat. Take my uncle for example, he has a degree in robotic engineering but works as a strip dancer.

9 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 0

I'll take him!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you sure he didn't built a bunch of robot clones of himself and let them work various professions while he sit back and relax?

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Biomed Engineer that just landed an awesome job as a business dev specialist. Engineering is just a way to get an awesome foot in the door.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

For better understanding, speak in imgurian:you're three fiddy ofthe way done,at 30 speed you'll finish soon, and everything in banana scale.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 8

The cringe is unreal

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Saw only 2 out 10 engineers doing the engineer's work , especially in the case of electrical.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

When I worked as a welder, mostly our engineer would complain about us and vice versa.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I took electrical engineering. Ended up in software dev and now I'm in the business side of product development. Good degree to have though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey... Me too. Wierd.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The way you spell weird is weird. ;)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This how I was with it...now I just want to be a Project manager but would then need more certs/schooling. Gotta keep on keepin on..

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you can get some vaguely project related experience and then get a PMP you should be able to enter in to it

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I guess I have the basic exp, just need the PMP?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've been in the field for 5 years now, 3 of which was a Pm, scrum master and lvl3 tech support smashed under the title "Production Support"

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Shit dude, how are you not a project manager yet? Yeah, 2nd hand, I've heard that PMP does help. Apply all over too!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hmm, I guess I need to just get on my shit. I already started throwing the gears of changes at my work now.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Took a t1 job to get me by (same pay as other old job to put in perspective of how fucked I was getting right out of school)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most people get fucked right out of school these days. Sigh. Amp up your resume, and you may need to move, but shit, I'm optimistic.
