But really, the guy who killed most local businesses in many countries, who killed small businesses online by stealing their custormers, who doesn't pay a living wage exploting his workers and preventing unions, that guy surprises anyone of not being a supporter of free press and democracy?
krotuskang
Unpopular opinion I guess.... Id rather news outlets not endorse candidates period.

Delete your Amazon account — no money for fascist collaborators.
SortOfAverage
Boycott each and every one of the fucking pricks. Stop buying from Amazon. Stop buying from Tesla. Stop buying from Starlink. Cancel your subscription. Hit them where it hurts them most.
EvilScallywag
I deleted my Amazon account this morning.

The WaPo "He's a fascist" Then in comes Traitor Bezos, "you can't publish that"

its like watching a superhero film, but the villain wins.

It's not dying. It's actively being murdered. Donald Trump and the GOP are in the middle of the street, stabbing it repeatedly while at least half the nation looks on in horror, and the other half cheers them.
GeneralPrower
Democracy gets lynched.
onlymostofthetime
cancelled my prime subscription today. Never did subscribe to the Washington Post.
Pikkupanda
A long-time friend works for Amazon and thus I have had my membership since 2000. Early adopter.
I’m canceling it today.

Save the planet. Kill a billionaire.
Parad0xia
More billionaires need to stop aliving.

This is what bullies and cowards do. They’re afraid to allow equal discourse because they know they’re wrong, but still want things their way - to the detriment of others. Fuck them.
sleepinggreenidea
It's what corporations do. It's what they've always done. Expecting for-profit entities to be objective and unbiased was always delusional.
Leaps
He did it because he is afraid of another retaliation by Trump. Like what happened last time when Trump was elected.

I cancelled my WP after 20+ yrs. Fuck billionaires trying to influence my vote.

Democracy dies in darkness, eh? It’s you Bezos’ puppets turning off the lights. Fuck the Washington Post.

Cancel Prime, if you haven't already.

tbh prime hasn't been worth it in years

Come on renegades! I know there is some on the staff, print the headline! Vote Blue!
PeaceBaby
Some on the staff have pushed back. One wrote an opinion piece on how f--ked the Post is. A cartoonist also took it on. https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/washington-post-endorses-fascism

Fuck that dickhead. And fuck this country for doing nothing about monopolies, abuse of labor, employee wage theft, and the massive carbon footprint this company is responsible for.
VikingsAreNinjaPirates
Hey, at least this Nazi sympathizer also killed off a plethora of local small businesses that propped up communities and provided resources and stability for those desperate for them. I wonder if Amazon sells guillotines?
Itslukus
Just straight up over capitalism and being in this country and planet
KleptoKea
It's The People of that country who had and still have the power to confront and change. Unfortunately Americans have proven to be a lethally complacent People. Evil prevails when good people do nothing.
defensivebackhair
So that's probably what this is about, the FTC IS doing something about monopolies, and Amazon is the target. Last year, Khan issued a suite against Amazon for predatory, monopolistic practices. If Trump wins, Khan gets sacked. Lobby-favoring puppet is new FTC. Amazon wins. Monopolies win. These are dark times ahead

The billionaires bought the government. The people had bbq's on Memorial Day, bought instapots and Ford F150's, took voting for granted and regarded it as an option, and simply bitched about their government instead of remembering that democracy is a contact sport, not a movie. Vote, but you can't stop there. GET INVOLVED.
xeilua
Get involved *how*?! What is the average person supposed to be doing while working a full time job?
rubypilgrim
If you have a half hour or more on a weekend, you can make calls to undecided voters, or voters who need help getting to the polls on behalf of a politician you support. Have a like-minded spouse, family, neighbors, friends, colleagues? call up a potluck and have a phonebank contest. The campaign will give you everything you need, even the phones if you call from their local office. Those calls matter more than you know, and it's rewarding once you get started.
ROGUEdenied
volunteer for campaigns that you support. There are many things you can do like, phone banks, walking your neighborhood with literature, stuffing envelopes, posting online and more small tasks. They always need help. Find something you like that fits in your time.

Ngl, I didn’t even realize papers endorse candidates. I always thought they pretend to be impartial politically.
spool32
The editorial board publishes opinions and makes endorsements. The news section is, in theory, an impartial report of the news.
Babomonkey
Traditionally the news section was impartial, the editorial section was not. Newspapers have always had both.
GuitarBobMonterey
Have you really read newspapers?
Lepidopterous
Not regularly, no. But Apple News is kind of an amalgam of newspapers. I know they all have their biases, but never knew they officially endorsed.
GuitarBobMonterey
Y'r right, most don't I suppose. Really like a local rag here...except for the owner's weekly editorials. Always skewing Right.

He's afraid of losing money. I have to find my new amazon.
Geistbar
Buy from manufacturer. Most of the time if it's over $50 you get free shipping that's faster than Amazon's non-Prime free shipping. If it's under $50 you can go to other retailers to get a similar result. Most of which have some kind of rewards program that will save you a bit of money, too.
There's a lot of kitchen stuff I've bought lately. Buying direct from manufacturer wouldn't get me to free shipping, but I picked a kitchen store & bought there (not named to avoid being an ad for them).
MatrimBloodyCauthon
I generally just use ebay. I tried getting my mom to cancel prime but she said we get it for super cheap since we don't make a lot of money, maybe I'll try again
qwertdeep
Don’t make your mother’s life harder for political reasons if you guys are short on cash. Boycotts are the privilege of those who can afford them unfortunately. You can direct your energy towards local protests and campaigning instead
MatrimBloodyCauthon
I appreciate that.
ItispronouncedGIFwithahardG
Is ebay actually reliable these days? I quit using it a while back when it started looking super scammy and I didn't feel like I could trust anyone there any more.
MatrimBloodyCauthon
You just need to pick people with good seller ratings, in my experience. :)
ItispronouncedGIFwithahardG
Hm, maybe I'll try it for xmas gits this year. I just purchased a bday gift for someone last week, wanted a physical copy of a game and ebay was the only place I could actually find it (I bought the digital copy instead, but I would have preferred not to).
