Could it just be that the two black guys were Freshmen while the woman had been there for longer?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They did *SPIRIT FINGERS*. Jazz is for coloreds.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Classic GOP priorities; ignore the dead children and focus on the black legislators, the real problem.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

"for speaking out of turn" GOP: "These uppity n*****s..." What a fucking disgrace to humanity.

Superdeeduper racist double underline and PROUD of it, they are.

Tennessee Republicans celebrating after expelling two black men:

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I know for a fact that on some hotel chains in Tennessee you can get a discount if you're a member of the KKK. So, no surprise there.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure why this is surprising to anyone. Are there different levels of GQP racism? Nothing is shocking anymore. Thanks GQP.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

TNGQP accidentally did a racism whilst doing a fascism

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The GOP is full blown Nazi now. They don't care who knows or how they win. Only that they win at any cost. Everyone needs to fight back with everything they have and nothing is off the table when fighting Nazis.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

And the GOP lawmakers who voted not to expel Johnson gave the lamest fucking reasons. We should mail every Tennessee GOP politician a fitted white robe and pointed hood.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As if they don't already have a closet full of them

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nobody should be surprised. The fascisti aren't playing the same game that they were up until Obamas 2nd term, they aren't trying for the veneer of legitimacy any more, it's just a naked power grab. This kind of formal, visible bigotry establishes "cred" with their base. It's *on purpose*, and it's going to get worse.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think Tennessee is too red for them to see any repercussions for this, but I can't help but hope that this continues to push more and more moderates away from the republican party, allowing dems to expand their foothold in more purple parts of the country.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Moderates in the GOP is a small number I would guess, Few years ago it was probably more. But they knew what they had with Trump the second election and he still had a huge number of votes. And quite frankly they don't want much to do with the far far left of the Democrat party. So here we are both sides digging in.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Of course you found a way to turn expelling two people from the TN general assembly because they're black into a "both sides" fever dream.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be fair, It looked like the white women could beat the shit out of the whole rest of them.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

Hey now, conservatives should only be called cons after they've been properly "rewarded" by the jury.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What do you expect in Tennessee? Everyone’s acting like it’s a first world country.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I gotta point out that the White woman showed up with a lawyer who pointed out some legal flaws in the bill to expel her. The black politicians did not show up with lawyers. Result, blacks expelled, whites retained. I actually don't know the details, but I suspect the same flaws that saved the white woman also existed in the bills to expel the blacks.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

They were all doing the same thing so why would the rules and questions equally? This is backfilling.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

If you and I get a bullshit ticket for running the same red light and I show up to court to fight it and you don't, mine can get thrown out while you have to pay yours.

Statement:

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The south is America's cancer. The only good thing about the south is their food, and a majority of said food was created by minorities/slaves. Beyond that, the south has no redeeming qualities.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Let's try to remember that even in the reddest of red states in the south, there's still a good 40% who come out regularly and vote democrat. Hell, Georgia managed to go purple even with the heavy, heavy gerrymandering. Yes, it sucks that the south has fucked up politics, but those fucked up governments and reps are also holding a large segment of their populace hostage.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That doesn't render the other statement false. In fact, it proves it even more. The south is a horrid place. So is any republican held area at this point. "We want all the perks of government but none of the downsides like taxes, oh also make sure to oppress people we don't like." Is the entirety of republican ideology.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Same. I thought they were all 3 gone for sure. When it was just the two black men and the white woman stayed? It was a new low. Such naked bigotry. But they did it because they know--no matter how obvious it was--they'll get away with it. Even now it doesn't feel like the rage is at the level it should be. If the streets of Nashville aren't full of a 100,000 protestors surrounding the capitol building tomorrow...it'll show we still aren't mad enough.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

How about Mississippi Gov signing law into place banning teaching of black history while also extending the practice of Confederacy Heritage month? I think that's pretty high up there on the Racist scale.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The thing that’s remarkable to me is the entire body of work the Republicans seem to be creating. Just when I think that they couldn’t possibly get even more fascist/racist/oppressive, they pick the shovel back up and dig in a little deeper. They’re on their way down to the depths of political Hell and they don’t even see it.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

You really are naïve r don't know what fascism/nazism is. This is just a taste what they have in store for you when they remove all opposition.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

That isnt even the scary part. The most frightening aspect of this is that THERES FUCKING PEOPLE VOTING FOR THEM.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ignoring the insane racism for a second. This stunt of expelling them is gonna cost a ton for the special elections. Just to have them be reelected. Good job party of financial conservatism. You played yourself. Side note can we vote out both Blackbern and the other asshole that represents Tennessee in the senate.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

No special elections. In both cases local councils just name replacements. Likely both will be named to their vacant seats so nothing will change.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah thank you.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think they care about wasting taxpayer money.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There's no longer a "quiet part" that they don't say out loud in the GQP.

3 years ago | Likes 557 Dislikes 9

You only need a quiet part if you fear repercussions or backlash. The current GOP does what they want, because no one is stopping them.

3 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

Well, I think I agree with the general sentiment, but they've been losing red strongholds for like 5 years now...

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

and their voters often reward them for saying the quiet part as loudly as possible

3 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

"they say what they mean! They're honest!"

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Loud, ignorant, and hateful. It's the GOP way.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Makes them feel relieved. "Hey we can now say the N word freely, be ourselves! We can act like an animal and it's God's work or nature's instincts". Trump and the GOP have made it not only ok, but prideful to be a racist scumbag.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That 36° 30' line is a hell of a border.

3 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 3

Really? Racism can't go north of the Mason-Dixon line? Go to Ohio, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Northern Idaho, or Eastern Oregon. Idiocy and evil are pervasive.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

It's a rural vs urban thing more. If you interact with people that don't look like you on a regular basis, you realize everyone is a person. It's really damn frustrating to go to the suburbs & deal with constant low key racism & looks. Yet another minority tax is that living outside major metropolitan areas (which tend to be expensive) leads to this constant extra anxiety (chronic actually causes physical issues) or if you're really unlucky, jail or death.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Let me assure you there are racist people in western Oregon and southern Idaho. Unless you’re saying racism can’t go west of the Cascades? Or south of McCall?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a liberal Idahoan I can confirm racism is prevalent. In the town of Kuna there's a place called Kuna Kave Kids. A daycare for children. Not far from our capital. And nobody has protested against the not so subtle name.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Seems like a stretch I guess. Had to read this a few times to realize what could be wrong with it. Unless I’m just racist..?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, the fact that you can't immediately see the three Ks in a comment about racism leads me to doubt your cognitive abilities. It was intentional in small town Idaho, and accepted by the community.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Kuna sounds like the name of a bear or something

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

really hoping this is pissing off young people.

3 years ago | Likes 349 Dislikes 6

really hope this pisses them off enough to *actually* vote

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Twitter warriors need to get off the couch and protest

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

I wonder who feeds and shelters the protestors, or is there an organized protesting union? Like i hear this whistleblowers kids been kidnapped/arrested over some anti-police crap said in some snapchat group and i want to throw my pitchfork in with the rest... but im a world away and spending almost my entire monthly income on my rent. Thoughts and prayers are all i have. I guess i could work more hours but if im honest if theres more money in my pocket ill just buy panda and jjs instead of cook

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I want it to piss of ALL people, because we can't rely on the young to fight all our fights. They need to live as well

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

All the old people are set in their ways, and as they get older, slowly turn republican.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

They were already pissed off. They peacefully "stormed" the capital to protest. And conservatives had the unmitigated gall to call THAT an insurrection, but January 6th was a peaceful tour through the capitol. I can't begin to convey how much I despise the Republican Party.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

So you are about 20 feet old?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It sb passing us all off royally. Cuz stopping these racists & fascists will take major collective effort!!!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hear they walked out the other day over dying tryin to go to school. Are they still on that? Or did we get any reform? I heard the french are on it about a forced increase in retirement age, i wonder how thats goin? Someone killed someone else for not wearing correct headdress and it looked for a minute like they might topple the government. I see hopeful videos of 🇺🇦 resisting. I think the bell riots are here

3 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 3

They walked out after Sandy Hook. And Uvalde. And Newtown. Repubs don’t care (they’ve literally said as much) and Dems don’t have the backbone to push.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Only 18 months early... timeline's still pretty stable I guess.

3 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

There's another protest planned for Monday (4/10) down at the TN state capital. We will know then. My gut says this will lead TN into a more purple hue. Fingers crossed of course

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

lol better be a armed one. Pigs are gonna attack it.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

it's actually a good thing - basically guarantees they'll have no workable defense for the lawsuit.

3 years ago | Likes 1379 Dislikes 10

Did you forget about uncle Clarence and his hate for his own race?

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

He is a hypocrite and a slave. He is slave to the whites as a puppet. He is paid off to make I'm believe he is better than other blacks.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Unfortunately, there was a similar case in Florida. DeSantis fired an elected DA. The courts ruled out was illegal but they did not have the power to reinstate the DA or punish DeSantis.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This would probably end the same way.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the best defense was the fact that that house did not, years ago, expel a white guy who took a piss in the seat, or chair, of another member. but i dont think it was actually in that chamber, but an office or some other type of room. but i may be wrong it could have been in that same chamber

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Silver linings I guess

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not banning the woman is probably the defence "look we didnt ban ALL the democrats we kept the civil white one"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Look at this commenter. They still have hope. They still believe in a better system. It's cute

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The lawsuit with the far-right judge?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The problem arises the case would be tried in Tenessee .

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Love this response:)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You must not know many asshole republicans

3 years ago | Likes 349 Dislikes 2

It was founded on/with racism.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I believe this relies on the assumption that the justice department is interested in doing its actual job

3 years ago | Likes 284 Dislikes 3

I concur. And, Biden commenting about this racism soon.

3 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

I doubt the DoJ will get involved at all. It's a state level issue and Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution may not apply.

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Iirc there's a precedent for something like this happening before and getting reversed because it's a 1A violation

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't feel 1A would apply here. This is a state legislature internal action regarding perceived decorum violations. They'll just argue that it wasn't about what the representatives were saying, but about how they went about saying it. In that light, they were expelled because they violated conduct rules. Good luck fighting that in court. See ya in a few years (if a judge would even approve the case). Easier for them to run again, which is what they plan on doing.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bold of you to assume people still abide by the Constitution these days. Just look at Florida.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Assume what? Article IV is really the only basis for the DoJ to investigate and I don't think the DoJ would think it sufficiently applicable. Given SCOTUS leaning heavily towards states' rights, I doubt Garland would choose to wade into such murky waters at this time with everything else the DoJ has going on.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure that Federal law prevents racism. The shit in TN was 100% about racism.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Pretty sure the DoJ would have a tough time proving beyond a reasonable doubt to a court that the state reps acted with concerted racism. Sure, it may seem obvious, but proving it legally is an entirely different matter. We'll see, but I'm willing to bet the DoJ declines to pursue any investigation on it and the current SCOTUS would likely consider it a 'states' rights' issue and not something that can be pursued at the federal level.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What lawsuit? As horrible as that is, I am not sure that they broke any laws or even breached any constitutional rights. I would love to wrong.

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

I think that I read that they did nothing *legally wrong, per TN constitution*. Morally it's looking extra fucked up.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You just described gerrymandering, voter suppression....

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh shit! Let me educate you on how. 1. When someone says they don't understand something, explain it. People LOVE that. 2. When they ask an ambiguous question, answer the least likely part. 3. Shit. I'm some Autistic. Ignore my advice. <^>(O-o)<^>

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

LOL. I appreciate this.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Voting has consequences. If young people vote we can keep pushing left.

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

And that affects scotus in the next 20 years how?

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Supreme court CAN (and probably should) be expanded, Biden doesn't seem interested, but he's old as fuck and won't be around forever.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's politically dicey is why. We'll see how that goes over the next several years.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He would expand it if the house and Senate weren't republican controlled. The senate is only 3 seats away from becoming republican
