Omg, farscape...... Used to love that shit.

Farscape is fantastic and people should watch it... but by 4 and onwards you're just hunting for similarity, those characters are not alike.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

But where is the living space ship?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

turns out when you describe someone by their most vague characteristics, they can cover multiple people.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That last episode with Dargo... ;_;

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Very sad , but they named their son D’argo which for me was just awesome

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ahh Scorpius, you and you obsession with breeding women and stretching out people's eyeballs to plant devices behind them..

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Look...The crakers. Don't. Matter!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You can't compare Rygel to Rocket though, not really. Rocket at least has skills and gets shit done. And man, who can forget Chiana!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Rigel is not exactly a weapon specialist, except if you include his farts.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

and his piss occasionally

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Farscape <3

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Except for one tiny detail- Farscape is a four-year long meditation on insanity which devolves into mind-crushing madness. 5/7, will rewatch

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Claudia Black...Sweet Christmas!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

there's a reason ben browder has a cameo in GoTG 2. he even does his super horrible peacekeeper voice it's wonderful

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

You noticed too!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Loved it. Hell, I love the Sovereign altogether. Bunch of hoity-toity tightasses that actually have fun. Never figured that was possible.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Chiana? Where's she?

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Well, maybe she's Nebula without the raging sibling rivalry complex.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wait, Dark Matter kinda fits this trope as well. Shit.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Farscape stomps the shit out of all other scyfis I have seen. Fuck Star Wars and fuck Star Trek. This show was amazing.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

I watch a LOT of tv. Its not the best show ever, but Farscape is my favorite show ever.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember reading somewhere that the reboot Guardians comic book was actually inspired by Farscape.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It bothered me so much that they just brought them onto Stargate SG-1. I feel like a crossover would have been more fun. A Stargate is 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

basically just a controlled wormhole. How hilarious would it be to have their team just kind of pop into Cheyenne Mountain. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wasn't star gate from SG an atom-sized, one way wormhole that you got squeezed through by dismantling and reassembling you? With strict 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

size limit? 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll watch all of 'Farscape' one day, but man, was it weird as fuck. Australia, what the hell? At least I got Ben/Claudia in 'SG-1' \m/

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Which one is the sex addled hemaphrodite in Guardians or the Galaxy?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Sex addled what now? I can only think of one hermaphrodite from the show and it was only in one episode.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That may or may not have been Moonstone. She's a comic only character though.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I see Farscape, I upvote.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I've watched Farscape only once and have fond memories of it; not sure if it's a good idea to watch it again.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Smart. Sometimes it's best to just let good memories lie.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It holds up, but first half of first season is pretty weak.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, then, who's Harvey?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Mary Poppins obviously.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now I'm imagining Wayne Pygram shouting that line with his prim proper british accent. v

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mind frelling blown

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Used to watch this with my dad A LOT when I was growing up. Still try to get people to watch it. Sad they stopped it

8 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 0

I miss this show too! My dad actually directed this show - Andrew Prowse

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same exact story. Watched it with my dad on the Sci-Fi channel I think.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same here! You also watch Lex?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The irony being that SG1 is the reason it got cancelled. SciFi picked SG1 over Farscape.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I fell off due to work conflicts, caught the last bits of the final regular episode. Not the greatest of timing, to be sure. But it did >

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

> get me to watch the Peacekeeper War

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here you go, first 30 seconds is a recap. https://youtu.be/VA7amBLzLSw

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best recap ever!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it on Netflix or any other streaming service?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

for a while, it comes back every now and again, so you'll have to keep an eye on it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It used to be on Canadian Netflix a few years ago, they’ve removed a fair bit of shows.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They have it on YouTube for free but its like formatted oddly

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

at least it has an ending

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

"You two make peace or watch the galaxy get destroyed by the singularity I created" - one heck of a threat

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I prefer the ending: "This, this is your playground"

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wasn't a comic book made for the ending?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you are mistaking this for stargate universe.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no, a whole movie: the peacekeeper wars

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I still have a crush on Claudia Black.

8 years ago | Likes 336 Dislikes 4

Can't stand her. In anything. Dunno why, she grates on me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

One of the reasons I romanced Morrigan in Dragon Age: Origins since she voiced her in the game.

8 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

Chloe over Elena any day of the week and 3.50 on Sundays.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ohhh.... Ms. Black.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She does voice acting in a couple of video games and holy hell her voice is so sensual

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Her german voice is the same as Bart Simpson. Very disturbing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Destiny 1 & 2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chloe from the Uncharted series <3

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

and Morrigan in the Dragon Age series.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tali's treason mission scene in ME3 has her as Admiral Xen, and Avasara from The Expanse! 2 very different but unique voices.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Having gone from 'SG-1' to kinda sorta not really 'Farscape' to 'Mass Effect', she was great to hear. But man, that casting was epic, anyway

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Diablo 3, Cydaea. "Oh, the things I am going to do to you..." "Shhhhh... I eat you now."

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who doesn't?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I have a crush on her voice. Her face not so much.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Play Destiny and Destiny 2. Claudia Black is the voice of Tess Everis.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shame that she hasn't done anything really worthwhile since Farscape (didn't like how they just copy&pasted Ben and Claudia to SG1).

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Tons of voicework for video games. She was the lead in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which was a great little game.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Considering all the voice acting she's doing right now, I think she's doing alright.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ermm... Pitchblack?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah, well it was published at the same time as FS s2 ;)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I could never tell how old she was on SG-1. Like is she 50 and looks real good or 30 and really doesn't?

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

It's the cheekbones. They throw you off every time.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She was born in 72, so she was around her 30s. And here i was thinking i was starting to mature for beginning to like older women...

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Never realized she was older than me, Rawr.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

She ain't bad but Gigi is da bomb.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I met her once at a con. She's freakin' adorable.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Have been lucky enough to meet her enough times she actually remembers my name.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah Chiana makeup was so hot :) But John & Aeryn is the best love story in a Scifi series so far.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The best thing ever, is when Ben and Claudia went from Farscape to SG-1, and basically exchanged character sheets like it was no big deal.

8 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 0

episode 200 where Vala pitches Farscape to the studio guy and he just gives her this blank look. "Never heard of it".

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

That 4th wall just *exploded* lol!

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That particular episode took down all the walls. All of them.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"...Have we met?"

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I lost it at that Wormhole Xtreme-episode :D

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Which one was that?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well, Wormhole X-treme! :P https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wormhole_X-Treme!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hstdINH9Lk0 <--- that building in the beginning is well known from MacGyver :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guardians was a comic book before farscape was a TV show.

8 years ago | Likes 1111 Dislikes 48

No it wasn't

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

v

8 years ago | Likes 330 Dislikes 2

We need more Farscape reaction gifs

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And they all follow the same make-up of countless influences before it. D&D, Star Wars, LOTR, and folk heroes like Robin Hood, Jason, etc.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

More accurately, these are archetypes that work, and they are modified to fit scifi/fantasy etc with some popculture tweaks

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, good ol Drax from the comics https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/99/Captain_Marvel_Drax.jpg

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Facts?! How dare you!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I was hoping someone had already made this point! Thank you!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I was about to say...don't be telling a former comic book/sci fi nerd that BS. Lol

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

But original guardians didn't have the same cast.

8 years ago | Likes 184 Dislikes 5

but the current popular cast still debuted way the fuck before Farscape was even an idea Rockne S. O'Bannon came up with as he took a shit.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

True, but all characters of the 2008 line-up made their comic book debut in 1976 or earlier (Gamora in '75, Drax in '73, Groot in '60).

8 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 0

Seriously, I love your ability to recall this kind of information but....

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 4

And they were extremely different characters than what you get from the Guardians. Come on.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 22

And that proves Ronan the Accuser (1967, for what it's worth) was modeled after the bad guy of some obscure sci-fantasy show? Come on indeed

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but Ronan the fucking accuser isn’t even a bad guy to the Guardians in the comics. He’s not really a bad guy.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

The original guardians - Yondu, Starhawk, Charlie-27, Vance Astro, Martinex. The movie makes them the leaders of the Ravagers.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ving Rhames, Charlies 27. Sylvester Stallone, Stakar Ogord / Starhawk. Michael Rosenbaum, Martinex. Michael Rooker, Yondu.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not those Guardians. The Lanning/Abnett Guardians team was published in 2008. Farscape had ended five years prior.

8 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 4

And I gotta say I love Abnett’s take on them.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Check the creation dates of the individual characters of the current line-up.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

What’s your point? They were not together then, and the Groot, Star-Lord, even Rocket of old are completely different characters.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

"Extremely different" is an overstatement. Groot was a walking tree then & he is one now. If anything, he was inspired by Tolkien's Ents.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

They were different characters. Written differently. Did you read the comics or are you just pulling shit out of the Internet?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

To think his modern version was inspired by Farscape's female empath (not very original btw; think TNG's Deanna Troi) seems far-fetched.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Groot was a monster from Planet X who spoke in fully formed sentences. And was bad. And appeared sporadically through the decades. Wtf.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Farscape was '99. The Guardians comics the movies are based on started in '08. True story.

8 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 18

First appearanceMarvel Super-Heroes #18 (January 1969)

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

Old school Guardians was a very different team. Though some of those characters have had cameos or supporting roles in the films (Yondu).

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Rocket raccoon 1976, Star Lord 1976, Drax 1973, Groot 1960, Gamora 1975

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 4

Are you callin' me a liar?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

(1/2) They're talking about the big Annihilation revival that reimagined a lot of Marvel's cosmic characters. The MCU version takes a lot

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

(2/2) from that iteration.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I call your BS with the facts stated by others.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 6

Peter Quill first appeared in 1976, as did Rocket. Gamora has been around since 1975, Drax since 73. Groot goes all the way back to 1960.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

So Farscape had the idea to put them all together before Marvel, then. The post still makes sense!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Farscape put all these Marvel characters together?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It's true that these characters weren't a team until 2008, but they all predate the TV show by several decades.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

The characters as such are not very unique, but the combination rather is.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A gun-toting, explosives-loving sapient raccoon w.enhanced strength & intelligence who is also a brilliant spaceship engineer is not unique?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And what this character has in common with Farscape's muppet Rygel XVI besides size is beyond me.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used to watch this, Stargate sg1, and The Lexx on Friday nights. Then late Saturday, I'd watch reruns of X-files, ds9, and xena. Oh 90's..

8 years ago | Likes 502 Dislikes 1

Oh the Lexx I was so hot for Michael McManus rawr.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was the golden age of television my friend.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

im watching all of the xfiles and DS9 right now :D Loving it all.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Give Babylon 5 a go, I think you'll like it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just don't judge it by the shitty cgi

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hells yeah! Hercules and Xena on Saturdays, Sundays night also had The Outer Limits

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The early 90's were when it all happened. Sci-fi became *mainstream*.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Watching ds9 on Netflix having last seen it about 15 years ago. It’s so good!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same. On the last season now. I still prefer Voyager, but DS9 is the shit!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m watching voyager after, but rediscovering Jadzia who was my childhood hero has made me so happy

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I named my Doberman Dax after her :D

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When I was much younger my imaginary magical kingdom was called KeznDax after my favourite Star Trek ladies

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good old late night TV here in the UK, was like that too - Lexx, Space Above and Beyond, La Femme Nikita... (I know there was more......)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Then every once in a while Monkey Magic would grace your screen as you're flicking between the 4 channels.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And then they added the 5th Channel in 1997... I miss the late night US motorsports they used to show on there (Indycar/NASCAR etc.)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Space Above and Beyond was/is amazing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good choices. Babylon 5 was my absolute must-see. I about lost my shit one night when my local cable failed to shut off their damn >

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

B5 had some of the best written characters I've ever seen to this day.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Still my favorite sci-fi show today. Too bad so many actors died tragically :(

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

> commercial override, where they pre-empted the network ads with their own. Just in time for the next show to start.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Babylon 5 was amazing for its time. Today we have better shows, but none one them could be possible without Babylon 5.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

In the end, it would hold, because what is built endures. And what is loved endures. And Babylon 5... Babylon 5 endures.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What constitutes a better show? If you are judging merely by special effects, you are missing a lot.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

BSG, Stargate SG-1, Expanse

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And btw for its time Babylon 5 had amazing VFX.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
