What my new doctor said about testing my lymph nodes

Me: I am concerned about my lymph nodes.
New Doctor: Do you live with someone?
Me: Yes, I have a husband.
New Doctor: Good, you can feel his lymph nodes for comparison. If you lived alone, I would tell you to feel mine but you don't have to do that.
(She begins to explain lymph nodes and how they can change size based on infection...)
New Doctor: I want to explain how they work -- what is your background?
Me: I have a PhD in Cell Biology.
New Doctor: Okay, so I can use the real big words...
