MRW my aunt won’t sleep in the spare room because the router is in there.

Jul 20, 2018 12:20 AM

Enjoy the couch cause we ain’t moving the router.

Put in a few WAPS around the house to ensure that she never stays another night.

"But the router is just a device the government uses to brainwash you!" OR "I aint havin your little bro wake me up at 3am over fortnite"

I like the irony of using an image of a man who believe in Zenu.

She can hear the packets chattering. They keep her up at night. Buy her aluminum foil.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My sister in law is a lovely, intelligent woman... Who believes wifi is bad for you. She won't use a microwave either

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean they often have blinking lights. I'd be pretty pissed off if I had to sleep with one.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I could see the blinky lights being annoying. But covering it would be the response.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

and some folks find the flashing lights irksome. I know sure do.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does she also not vaccinate her kids?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Devil’s advocate, maybe the flashy lights bug her?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

unplug it when you go to bed

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s the light. I put electrical tape over my lights.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If it's a Cisco router and she's a sysadmin, I'd understand that. That would trigger some really bad nightmares for me.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't want that thing watching me sleep either

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

because of the blinky lights??

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Trying to work out my raspberry pi, I was deligeted there was an "LED lights off" option in the router settings.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was my thought, too. They can be creepy when you're trying to sleep in the dark.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I actually have my router in my bedroom, installed by the cable company. Have to throw a blanket over it to cover the lights so I can sleep.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some people need a pitch black room to sleep

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I am one of those people. But blinky lights are nothing a bit of electrical tape won't fix. Comes right off after with no gunk.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does she also believe in Korean fan death?

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

thats mostly a thing people say to not have to admit family and loved ones killed themselves.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's serious though. I heard a K-pop idol was killed by one of her fans.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Hey those things kill you... If you eat like 5.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Used to work FD at a hotel. Had a guest ask if we could move the routers near her room bc the 'waves' made her feel ill...

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That’s a mental illness.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Simple solution; rerouter!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should route her to a less modern room. Heheh or modem room...

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Nah but for real I know some weird people like this and it's not because "cancer/ government" it's because "it's not covered and looks bad"

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are twits out there who think that EMF can cause cancer simply because it is a digital waveform and digital is unnatural

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

BUT... is it organic?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We only have the farm to table frequencies in our house!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe she’s afraid your porn is gonna pass invisibly through her head while she sleeps.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Well, she wouldn't be wrong...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good old Wi-Fi porn osmosis.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my neighbour wanted the wifi to be turned off or to be in a different room because we share a wall, he even stopped my electricity once.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How does your neighbor stop your electricity?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

everyone has an electricity and gas "box" in the hallway

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Give her a tinfoil hat, and call it a night.

7 years ago | Likes 340 Dislikes 3

This all reminds me of the older brother in Better Call Saul.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wrap her whole head in tin foil, just to be safe

7 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Disassemble her and coat her innards work that stuff too - best protection for your family!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lots of layers to keep the wifi out? Add syran wrap, an 1/16 of an inch is bullet proof.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My thoughts exactly.. can’t even allow breathing holes or eye holes. Want 100% protection from radio waves

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Actually a tin foil hat would make that worse, I think it was "Because Science" or "Film Theorists" that covered that in an episode

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Not if it's sealed tightly enough.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That just makes the wave magnification more intensified

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The first scientists working with radioactive rocks used to carry them in their pockets. They got all sorts of cancer from it

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

I mean, Marie Curie's notes are kept in lead line boxes, so

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Look into the corralation between emf's and cancer and youll see theres been a lot of cases of these two have been highly corralated

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

Could you give me a link to start with? Because I’m not sure if you know this but both cancer and EMF are very broad categories...

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I assume you're wondering more about non-ionizing EM radiation. It's not completely harmless: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/emf/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Correlated* and correlation is not causation.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So it's possible that high cancer rates caused emf?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tell her it’s an air purifier. As if she’d know the difference.

7 years ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 2

If the lights start blinking a lot, it means it caught some bad germs in the air and totally not related to my late night internet activity.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Tell her it's a new kind of router that uses positive ions (from himalayan salt) instead of the negative ions used by harmful routers.

7 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

<3

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nothing makes me more angrier than those claims. I bought a salt lamp for the sole purpose of ambience and love it. Every other magical

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

claim is bullshit.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Me too. They’re awesome for that dimly lit, steady glow like a gentle, smooth campfire

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nothing makes me angrier than redundancy like "more angrier" because I'm a goddamn asshole, honestly. I have a problem.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Two attempts to make it a comparison. "More angry" or "angrier". Pick one.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You’re right, guys. I’m sorry. I’m the worst.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this a wood working router?

7 years ago | Likes 182 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't know why she can't sleep while I do some quick midnight quarter rounds.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wish. I need a good router... oh the woodworking variety.

7 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

I'm a routerless geologist as well. But steel and fire are more my medium, so router is low on wish list. Ewww trees.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is she actually complaining about the wifi existing in there, or the lights? My sister cant sleep with router lights blinkspamming

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Wifi causing cancer is my guess. You can just cover the lights.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah I bought some plastic covers since our router is under the TV. They even come in different shades. I like it dark enough it doesn't >

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

distract from the TV, but let out enough light that I can still see the status LEDs

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s because of the cancer thing... She has her notions.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Eeew, alrighty then.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doesn't she know the Wi-Fi signal goes through the whole house? And I doubt she's citing the inverse square law about being near the source.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel your pain, friend. At least she's not demanding it be turned off.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would direct her to the front door at that point
