The textbook racket has evolvedĀ

Sep 14, 2017 4:07 PM

Now professors can register for online syllabuses created by textbook websites. You can only get the registration ID by buying the book, and you can only keep up with the class with the newest edition.

You're no longer virgin as life fucks you in the butt daily. Damn those capitalist pig.

If ever possible, I always wait at least a week or even 2 before buying it. They love recommending books I won't even use

Textbooks are an even bigger scam than the universities themselves.

That's why you never buy textbooks before the first class. Always wait to see what the prof and syllabus actually require for the class.

I'm going to start a course on how to make money, it will have 15 textbooks that are irrelevant to the course and on grad day 1/2

I'll give everyone a note that just says "I hope you learned a lesson"

Thankfully, this isn't going to last much longer. OER is the next big thing in HigherEd and most young professors I know are buying in.

The best professors are the ones that make their own printouts for the coursework, and allow multiple versions for the reading. 1/2

I've even had professors photocopy and upload the new book's problems so students could purchase the old version and save money.

I've had that but there are some copyright issues that the universities sometimes crack down on because of

That's perfectly fair though. If you want to use the more advanced services you pay for them.

"advanced"

if they arn't useful don't use them

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

We need to use them for the class. The class is usually required for the major.

then it's the uni that's robbing you

I agree, but today's job market requires secondary education, and all universities have classes that need paid online codes.
