Nickel-iron meteorite? People pay big $$ for them. Example http://www.ecrater.com/p/23041372/natural-genuine-gibeon-iron-nickel

would be nice if it were a nickel-iron meteorite. part of it looks like it's been artificially formed though. not sure what it is

It's the kind of rock that isn't a tiny turtle retracting its head into its shell, as I expected from the thumbnail. They're very rare.

My first thought was a round from primitive ammunition towers. Then I saw more and thought old false tooth.

@OP, it looks like there's marks where it's deformed like it's ductile. Have you taken a knife or razor to it to see if it's ductile at all?

I ask because it looks like a lead-tin alloy to me.

Looks like lead ball or maybe a conical type of round for blackpowder firearms. Seen a few like this in my sandpit.

Could be iron pyrite

You'd know if it was a pyrite straight off if it smells of rum

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've never noticed pyrite to smell of anything. How interesting.

I was thinking it kind of had a gold shine to it, its very heavy and sturdy.

That fits with pyrite

But iron pyrite has a density ~5g/cc so I'd only expect it to feel slightly heavier than normal.

Forget the rock. Lets talk about your hand there.
