Once had a carpenter show up for a bid, in his Porsche.

Taken from reddit then taken from the site that took it from reddit. Good job.

The last one is a risky one, I hear so many women say that, and then they want political correctness. It's just not how we roll.

Trades ROCK! No trades, no homes. You guys and gals are the best!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You DO need a piece of paper to work as an legally as an electrician-and a lot of training. But not a college degree.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i sold building electricity contracts, feedback from contractors was entertaining/frightening/horrifying (good price/break even/cutthroat)

I'll spend my whole life behind a computer. I have utmost respect for those who works with their hands.

3 things to always remember if you're a plumber: 1) hot on left, cold on right 2)water flows from high to low 3) never bite your fingernails

Why was there a picture of an African Tribesman for an electrician confession?

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

When you are first building a grid, they need electricians. Maybe they are an African electrician in a rural area???

If I were a carpenter and you were my lady...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some plumber take me on as an apprentice please

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Oz, they're known as 'cashed up bogans'. Tradies earn more money than any one!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd love to be an electrician. I'm 31 years old, high school drop out with no ability to attend college

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some of these are dumber than a bag of wet mice...

I don't even know where to begin with questioning that series of words but I laughed way too hard so +1

Tired of smelling like sweat? Stop eating onions

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate when guys think they haveto censor their speaking on jobs, or just straight up ignore me and act like i dont exisit.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I feel like the typical plumber stereotypes come from pornos lol

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

That explains the lady plumber who came by yesterday had a small wang

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd think porno-plumbers wouldn't be old, fat guys.

#11 Well, when you only have 2 minutes and 40 seconds to finish each job... But seriously, three cheers for muscle memory.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't need a paper, you need a drive.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't like a guy so I got him into legal trouble, haha I'm so funny.

9 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Yeah the implication there is that they framed their neighbors.....

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Yeah but its made up

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm an inspector and they all hate me

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My business started in a space previously rented by a hair salon. They'd jammed stuff in the breaker panel to keep the breakers from popping

I'm a marine mechanical fitter and... Kill me. Please kill me

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

There are DIY options for that, but I would STRONGLY suggest trying to find other work first.

When going through trade school for electrical, we called the plumbers at my school turd herders.

9 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Damn sparkies, welder here

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be fair, you would never want to lack a turd herder, shit could LITERALLY hit the fan.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Teacher would tell us to go be a turd herder if we couldn't handle electrical studies.

There's only 3 things you need to know. Shit rolls down hill, payday is every 2nd Friday, and every asshole is a potential customer.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'm leaving my desk job and going back for an electrical apprenticeship, can anyone with experience give me some tips/ day in the life

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Early mornings, late nights. Hot summers, cold winters in new construction. Hot attics and nasty crawl spaces in retro-fits.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But the satisfaction of a job well done makes it all worth while?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the paycheck after you're trained and established. Not a bad job, just not for the faint of heart.

As an HVAC tech, I was billing $105/hr, but certainly wasn't seeing anything near it!

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Do you have any idea that costs associated with running a business?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

As a pest control technician I charge around 95-130$ hourly, but hey, you know.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What does that mean? Not enough work? Taxes? Expenses?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Not only does the company have to make money but they have to pay for things like his truck, phone, insurance and their building etc.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Boss's cut is really big

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

At that job, we were told that our company didn't profit on our labor charge to customers. That simply paid for the truck, ins., overhead..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No it's that their employer billed for their time at a higher rate than hey were paid... Pretty standard as they don't have a masters 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

ahh. I see, thanks.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Colorado doesn't regulate HVAC professional licenses. City and County of Denver does, but not the state.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Interesting in Canada it's a nationally accredited trade (red seal). But the wages vary depending on where you live

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 so they cannot pull permits, and work under someone else's ability to pull a permit... Also greedy companies

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Also insurance.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Insurance is minor, usually it's other overhead, like the secretary and other office staff's salaries

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, on an 8-hour day, they might only have four billable hours. Plus a truck, usually.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I usually billed 8 hours a day. We billed windshield and warehouse time there. We had 15 minutes of admin each day, and billed the rest.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah usually that's covered on the initial call out cost, and then also charge for additional more KM over say 50k from their home base
