It's amazing how many customers think "the back" is a magical land full of hopes and dreams
coolfriendlynicebuddyguy
I work at a golf corse and relate to these..
ChrisHemsworthsBulge
I remember my days in retail
Psychosdonotexplodewhensunlighthitthem
The most bizarre from my years of retails was customers asking for directions and 9 times out 10 going the opposite way i told them.

I had 2 trial shifts for a restaurant job, front of house staff. Before the second I have never, in my life, so badly wanted to get...

on the wrong train going nowhere in particular. I have since accepted the job. It's not going to be fun.
Appel99
Yes, it's going to be the laziest coworker complaining about having to hard too hard, who else would it be?

#10 working at the spirit halloween store and hearing time warp from rocky horror for the billionth time

A lot of these apply to the veterinary field as well. Pet owners are the worst.
thepatioheater
The same 25 Christmas songs for over 2 months. All the obscure, awful ones. Makes me sad inside remembering that.

*Distant laughing from restaurant workers

"YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THE PANCAKES HAD FLOUR IN THEM! I'M LACTOSE INTOLERANT AND CAN'T HAVE ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS OR SUGAR AND WHERE'S MY-"
Lierofox
I have so much patience for restaurant workers and always give them a 20-25% tip.
EmmanuelPerez1775
Did a few months in a restaurant as a server for a little side job. From that point on I put my stuff in a pile and always cleaned my area.
Lierofox
Same, I grab and stack everyone's menus, clean up after myself and stack my dishes.

I'm right with the customer looking the other way when you bug them. I HATE being bothered in shops. I'll ask for help as and when I need it
boingclashboom
Yea but I have to say hi to you, I promise that I don't want to talk to you either. Don't be an asshole.
MikaMikaMika
I agree. Unfortunately most employees are required to talk to every customer. We would gt a write up if we failed to do so. There are 1/2
skipweasel
Yeah - but as a customer I don't give a flying fuck, I just want to be left alone. There are shops I won't go into because they pester me.
MikaMikaMika
customers who write bad reviews if we do not talk to them immediately or ask to see a manager b/c no one asked if they need help. 2/2

I just got hired to my first job. I can't wait to live these.
Heartomaton
You poor, poor bastard.

Almost all of these apply similarly to working in the restaurant business. I'm convinced retail and serving 2 of the worst jobs ever
vivalamatequilla
It also applies to vendors except we don't work at the retail store and no one understands that.
PULLMAN464
It also applies to law enforcement. I've had the great pleasure of working all three. Food service and retail are way tougher sometimes.
ufgatorfan
Serving is amazing. Got me through college with no loans.

Absolutely. I did it for 7 years, through high school and most of college

Scientific studies say that waiters have the biggest chance of getting cancer. Fyi.

Forget retail & serving... even worse than fast food? Opticians Office/Eye Doctor.
Meggr0nTheDestruct0r
Worked as an office manager at a Family Practice for like 5 years. Can confirm. But have also worked fast food and retail just as long and/
Meggr0nTheDestruct0r
/people treat you like you are super stupid way more often at ffood/retail. People get irrationally angry at doctors office most often

Seriously? Do tell
Montrose1100
Imagine the insanity and audacity of the worst people of retail, combined with the rudeness and temper of the worst tables.
