Have you any idea how hard it is to get ingredients for Caribbean cuisine in rural Finland?

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

😂😂 I would imagine quite difficult, but there are specific Caribbean websites that ship the Ingredients internationally

And grass?

That would be fresh thyme, where the leaves have boiled off into the stock leaving the stem.

I read the title in Hermes Conrad's voice lol. Also, we need a recipe! It's a cardinal sin to post delicious food without a recipe here on imgur!

I don’t have a recipe that has measurements, as I just sprinkle and taste. Here’s one I found online https://cooklikeajamaican.com/amp/new-recipe-jamaican-red-pea-soup/

Usually I don't struggle with cooking terms, but what does "ground provisions" mean?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yams, green bananas, carrots, pumpkin, pumpkin, sweet potatoes are considered food from the ground in Jamaica hence ground provisions

Oh! I was thinking ground as in ground spices. That makes much more sense then. Thank you!

Any chance you could share the recipe?

TIL! Thank you!

I googled it. Kidney beans?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, they are called red peas in Jamaica. This is also what they use to make rice and peas not to be confused with green garden peas.

Cool! Like black eyed peas are beans as well
