Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

This is kind of cool and makes really good sense

This is ABSOLUTE genius. Who ever thinks this is stupid never had coworkers.

Dry run with a visual aid. This is smart and not childish at all. Good on them.

No one should call this stupid. Visual aids.

Some years ago me and some mates went on top of a hill to have some beers with a view, and I brought toy cars with me so we could play with them like we used to as kids. One of my mates crashed his toy car because "he was driving drunk."

This is exactly how car stunts are worked out.

"Okay, so Dave I'm going to dump my load in your back end."

That’s far smarter than wrecking your million dollar piece of equipment and losing a week’s worth of work

This is how I run my equipment training classes lmao

There's a fight for the dump truck control

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The excavator operator is showing the truck drivers how he wants them to back in to get loaded, experienced truck drivers can usually figure it out easily, especially if you show them with your bucket, others need you to park, climb down out of the machine and guide them in like those guys directing planes on aircraft carriers.

You can actually see the moment when the supervisor understands.

2 years ago | Likes 307 Dislikes 1

the supervisor earlier that day: "what do you mean that won't work? why can't you just do it how i want you to?" the guy trying to explain why what the supervisor wants is stupid: *sigh* "hey Tony, get the tonkas. yeah, he's not getting it, I've explained it three times already"

The bucket on one of those can fill a 40 yard (volume) dumpster in one go.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ok, I know the imperial system is fucked up, but last I checked, yard was a unit of distance, not volume.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

from context it'll be yard³ (yard-cubed or cubic yard), but that's still a stupid unit.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A yard is basically a meter. Yard can be distance and volume just like meter.

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

visualisation...instead of explaining 5 times like "left...no the other left" you show it once and then everyone knows what up...and why spent big bucks on software or whatever fancy tools when kids toys work just fine for it...

And if you're dealing with maybe two or more languages, props are handy.

Considering that excavator in the background probably costs a few hundred bucks in fuel and oil just to turn over and get to working temperature, definitely worth taking a few minutes to make sure everyone is on the same page.

2 years ago | Likes 224 Dislikes 0

Love the innocent thought that they're gonna let it get up to temperature before they use it.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

For sure not that much but I ca confirm that you will turn maybe ten bucks of diesel into smoke before it turns over.

2 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Since everyone loves to subcontract the stuff till no one speaks the same language => Visual aid helps a lot. (EU perspective)

They should've used that when building the Tower of Babel.
