I work for a credit card processor company ask me anything and I'll try to answer

At least you have pockets.

I always end up taking my wallet back out to make sure I got my card back.

I do this while waiting for my change. Than just shove the change in my front pocket and sort it later.

Are you hiring in Central Mass?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, we're literally just below the Mason Dixon line

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never happened to me, not once. I pay with my card 4-5 times per day.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I put the card in my cell phone pocket, the phone case's edge pulls it next time I pull out my phone and throws it on the ground.

Why aren't card/chip readers standardized?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They're supposed to be. A biz auto loses a chargeback if the card had chip but biz didnt have chip reader. No one cares

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It costs a fair amount of money to change readers to recognize the data/message request to card issuers

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is why I hate the chip. I had a system. Swipe, put away, swipe another day. Now I have to wait (and make the line wait too)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doesn't matter, if your card passes LUHN validation and actually exists, well, you're paying the bill

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get my card out of my wallet beforehand to prepare then put it back in my wallet without thinking and put the wallet back in my pocket

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@OP: what's your take on the equifax hack? any suggestions on what to do if compromised that you haven't heard people talking a lot about?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's after a payment is made/approved. My suggestion is to change all passwords to login websites and ask for a new CC#

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I put my wallet back and then put the card in the pocket outside the wallet so I end up losing the card when I change pants

Omg mine too! It's so annoying!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same... that and my ID when I go out.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve done this at least 7 times in the last 5 years... I’m a slow learner.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gotta pump those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...I fucking KNEW I couldn't be the only one that does this!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My husband does this but then he'll just stick his card in his pocket or wherever and it gets lost. He does it constantly.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a good habit to have. It makes you less likely to lose your wallet.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dont do that.... sounds unnecessary.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same here!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that's why I use tap

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Buggered if I'd hand my card over to anyone. It stays firmly in my hand.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you in programming, manufacturing, sales? Do you know any stats on hacking/business fraud?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stats; no. But I do know PHP and Javascript and support API for a CC payment gateway

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a question. Any way to stop my purchase from appearing on my statement, you know, after I have purchased an item? my stomach thanks u

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's up to the business. They have to initiate the transaction

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, don't initiate the purchase at all.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We are conditioned to keep wallet sheathed at all times....

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i do this every single time

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why is the fee for businesses higher when the card is manually entered vs swiped/chiped?

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Because they have to do it manually?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Higher risk of fraud because they may not physically have the card? recoup costs of the extra risk.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

This guy gets it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's card not present versus card present. Track data helps show the issuer it was not a stolen/invalid card

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Thank you!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did this the other day and instantly confirmed my idiocy with an audible, “What the fuck is wrong with me?!” There were stares. Face red.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank god, I was afraid I was the only one who did shit this stupid.

8 years ago | Likes 271 Dislikes 2

Don't worry man, we're all doing dumb ass shit all the time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This actually worked out for me REALLY well one time in Vegas. Lost my wallet after a long night, but ended up with my license in my pocket!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All. The. Time.

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

"A man should not lend his wife nor his gun, ever; and should keep his wallet & keys at pockets all the time." Fool is you lose any.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you drive if your keys are in your pocket? There seems to be some logistical problems with this theory.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always do this when I'm really drunk. So when I wake up with my card in another pocket than my wallet. I know I spent to much money.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now I just hold my wallet out and open all awkwardly

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I feel like you're trying to make a joke of some sort... but nobody gets it.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I don't even understand your view troll

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

in canada you 'swipe' your own credit card, because they all have chip/pin. that way nobody can steal it

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Oh my sweet summer child..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

in the US you almost always swipe/insert your own card, with the exception of sit-down restaurants.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's almost a standard in the US. That's why it's EMV, EURO, Mastercard/Visa = EMV

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lol at "standard".

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WHAT is ISO?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
