Stayed at a place near Lake Havasu in Arizona last year in November... didn't drop below 100F the entire week we were there. If we weren't inside with the A/C we were outside in the pool.
Yeah, it's actually pointed that two siblings (the buff blonde and her brother, who is by the door in the first panel) are dating girls who look and act remarkably similar.
My youngest daughter made a song up when she was 5. Went a little something like "we live inside the pool, and everything is cool cool cool cool coolcoolcoolcoolcool" 🤌
Nortuet is the author of the comic. Nortverse.com is the website the comic is posted to. I'm not sure what the official name of the comic is. I know it as Tara and Beverly.

excellent. So when you going to give me the money needed to buy a house in the southern states. Why don't people in war zones just move?. Country in drought?? this guy says just dont live there.
I legit did this once when I was a kid like every Southern household we had three refrigerators in the garage that did absolutely nothing but hold beer and soda. One of them happened to be empty so I just kind of went inside of it and was like you know what this is pretty cool. I spent pretty much the whole day in there before my parents found me. I would open the door every 30 minutes or so to let fresh air in. I had my game boy color with its screen light addon some Doritos and a few sodas.lol
Considering some of the other stupid shit I've done I shouldn't be. I literally tried making a submarine out of fucking plywood. When I ended up making was basically a box that I tried to waterproof with duct tape. Unsuccessfully I might add. Of course I didn't have ballast so It just kind of floated until it started filling with water.... But thankfully I had the foresight to test it seeworthiness before I actually went inside of it and realized it was actually a dumb idea. Haba
Growing up, we had an old refrigerator that still used a door latch instead of the magnetic locks that modern fridges do. I used to have nightmares about getting locked inside it as my elders made sure to impress on me how kids have died in those kinds of fridges.
This is me. I just spent a few days with a friend who didn't tell me he didn't have AC. It was 90 at all times. I think I might have died a couple of times while I was there. Also he actually does have AC, he just doesn't use it. Fucking maniac.
Krillin x 18 is the ship we all love cause it gives hope to us losers that even if we feel like all we're destined for is to get blown up and treated like jokes that there might still be a bamf chick out there for us who'll give us a chance.
Krillin might be a better fighter than Uub. Uub has more potential due to being the reincarnation of Majin Buu, but that power only really gets cultivated after Dragon Ball Z ends.
The 400 year old house i grew up in did not have ac, midnight sun ment 24h of direct sunlight on the outer walls of my very big bedroom. And a steel roof to trap all heat. Hottest it ever got in there was 51C. Can't imagine what it is like there now when the heatwaves are getting hotter.
No, no you would not. I installed a heatpump (A/C that can also heat efficiently) a couple years ago. Best investment ever. Heating bill went down by at least half and I can stay nice and cool in summer. Bedroom is underneath the roof too so that used to get very uncomfortably hot as well. Not anymore! If I ever move to a house that doesn't already have it it will be at the top of my list to get it installed.
I have not had a home with AC in my adult life. It's not the end of the world. It turns out that I tolerate heat better than anyone else I know, and I've been living like this for ~25 years now. It's very possible to live that way.
I grew up without AC but the house we lived in was really well insulated. Summers were only about 30 degrees Celsius at their peak. It was very doable. Now all the places I've lived recently need AC because the houses are basically cardboard boxes with 0 shade. It's like an oven in them.
I grew up in South Texas without AC. We never had blankets, and you would go to sleep sweaty and wake up sweaty. The summers were in the 100’s and winters in the 70’s. But I never worried or complained about it. I got AC when I was older and I’ll never fucking go back to not having AC. It seems crazy now.
It was a luxury thing in much of Europe too, but then runaway global warming is giving them "unprecedented" heat waves every summer, so it's starting to become a necessity.
I can tell you from experience, my room is like a sauna day and night, but my brother's room? It's cold and cozy because he got the A/C. It is a huge difference with an A/C over using fans
Used to live in CA and didn't have it. Moved to Texas and I'd be dead of dehydration without it. People die here from heat stroke. No way would I be without it in TX. Elsewhere? Probably I'd be ok.
I grew up without AC. Eventually, I got a ceiling fan. When I moved out, central air ❤️. Keep the house around 75F in the summer and 72F in the winter. I used to feel guilty about it, but now I am just comfortable and happy.
I managed a couple years without a/c after having it in college dorms. Now that I've had window units for a solid decade - and have moved out of New England - couldn't imagine going without again.
I grew up in the midwest with central air. Then i moved to the pacific northwest which would have been fine.. But the last decade has had record highs, with 110+ the last few years. So I guess with new highs unless you live on the poles probably not.
In the coming years it's going to get to the point where A/C will not be optional. The US southeast is starting to reach wet bulb temperatures that are not human survivable without A/C. We are going to start seeing situations in poor areas where there will be hundred to thousands of deaths every time there's a heat wave.
But, why go back? Conditioning the air for your comfort is just better. It's like insisting that chopsticks are the best utensil -- no, spoons and forks and knives are far, far better. Having the ambient temperature and humidity set to *nearly* perfect conditions allows you to do so much more.
my grandmother and my wife's grandmother both live in houses without central AC (both in New England), and I've stayed at both. but even they have broken down and bought a couple of window units.
I grew up in a house without AC. Now, when ever I looked for apartments, anything that doesn't have AC gets thrown to the bottom of the list. (Heck, most of the ones without AC weren't even cheaper...)
I grew up in Alabama without A/C, we put fans in the windows to blow the heat out. I am fine with inside temperatures up to 90 degrees F now, but I don't know anyone else who can stand that. I like it hot! I prefer northern politics but southern weather :-(
I’m the exact opposite. Born and raised in Alaska and I like the cold very much. Like sleep with the window open in winter kind of cold. But I moved to Houston, TX about a year and a half ago for work and these summers are trying to kill me. The highest my AC ever goes to is 72 degrees and even that is warm to me. I start sweating as soon as I walk out the front door. LOL.
Wear SPF clothes if you do that, okay? And sunscreen/suntan lotion. And a wide brimmed hat. The sun is a massive ball of radiation that is trying to kill you- don’t let it win.
The fact that pretty much noone got AC here in Sweden is starting to become a slight problem, concrete buildings and buildings made to always trap heat are not ideal during heatwaves =_=
Same here in Denmark. Got AC installed a couple of years ago. Really been a lifesaver. We dont use it that often, but when the heat gets unbearable, its so nice to have.
germany here, yep, in my childhood summer temps of 30°C+ for a couple days/weeks were okay-ish as it was school break anyways and we would spend the time at a public pool or wherever, but last years were 40°C+ and im obviously a working adult now so no big summer breaks, its really annoying and exhausting to live with the heat...
You can get a decent used AC for like 200$ now. Even a brand new 10k BTU U shaped window unit cost me 500$. In Montreal we routinely get multiple days over 40°c (104°f) so AC is not an option
I grew up without it. Have one now. Instantly installed a programmable thermostat. Still run my house warmer than most with daytime being 80 and nights at 74
One of ours went out for 3 days in early June when Texas was clocking 100+ every day. Without completely overloading the 2nd one we could only get the house to the low 90s until we got the other unit replaced. It was miserable
Your body gets used to heat and cold after a while. Apparently, it's even good for you. But then again inside my house, it's currently 24 Celsius and outside it's 35. If it wasn't a rental, I'd add more insulation and add sunscreens on the outside. The problem with going back is probably that your income has gone down or other bad luck, and you'll feel sorry for yourself. You'll miss the luxury you treated yourself to. So probably no.
Where does it say 105+ with the heat index is good for you? I've been to the ER twice in the last few months because of our crazy heat and working outside. The humidity is so high that I simply don't sweat enough to cool off. I grew up in the heat and my body is telling me to fuck off with spending any more time in it.
I grew up with just a fan in my room. We installed an AC a couple months ago and I can't understand how I ever got through the past heatwaves without one
I cleaned pools in the black part for a couple years. Drank 30 bottles of water one day and used the bathroom once, at night after that shift. It was yellow...
shame about those maga strongholds being ricecookered to death, maybe if they had raked their christo fundy bullshit into the dumpster "god" wouldnt have turned it on or W/E. "laughs in commiefornian".
dude, you know innocent people live there, right? like, it's not just GOP wingnuts who don't believe in climate change? if you're gonna laugh about innocent people dying, you need to seriously do some introspection. and don't invoke the left; you'll make the rest of us look bad.
fully aware, and hope they can afford to relocate or install ac and solar. and i dont recall claiming claiming the voice for the left. all that said for the maga swarm yeah im laughing. ive no sympathy for the sort that would see me dead. likely should have made all that clear but eh better late then never.

But let's face it, it's also sort of because the artist is a bit same-face-y sometimes and this was a clever way to hang a lampshade on it.

With the materials available for proper or good insulation nowadays, you can build homes with like the same R value as a deep freezer, so you can basically heat your home with a candle and cool it with an ice cube. But I moved to Houston, TX about a year and a half ago for work and these summers are trying to kill me. The highest my AC ever goes to is 72 degrees and even that is warm to me. I start sweating as soon as I walk out the front door. LOL.
JudgementalMan
Im like a lizard sometimes, I want to lie on a warm rock in the sun and fall asleep.
KellyCrazyCatLadyinTraining
Wear SPF clothes if you do that, okay? And sunscreen/suntan lotion. And a wide brimmed hat. The sun is a massive ball of radiation that is trying to kill you- don’t let it win.
swedeonamoose
The fact that pretty much noone got AC here in Sweden is starting to become a slight problem, concrete buildings and buildings made to always trap heat are not ideal during heatwaves =_=
martineb72
A lot of people probably have AC only because they have a heat pump. Which is just an AC running in reverse.
Commander5AM
I'm in the UK, I feel your pain.
TaggerXA
Same here in Denmark. Got AC installed a couple of years ago. Really been a lifesaver. We dont use it that often, but when the heat gets unbearable, its so nice to have.
RecurringNightmare
germany here, yep, in my childhood summer temps of 30°C+ for a couple days/weeks were okay-ish as it was school break anyways and we would spend the time at a public pool or wherever, but last years were 40°C+ and im obviously a working adult now so no big summer breaks, its really annoying and exhausting to live with the heat...
spookyactionatadistance
You can get a decent used AC for like 200$ now. Even a brand new 10k BTU U shaped window unit cost me 500$. In Montreal we routinely get multiple days over 40°c (104°f) so AC is not an option
techwest
I grew up without it. Have one now. Instantly installed a programmable thermostat. Still run my house warmer than most with daytime being 80 and nights at 74

Temps in F
meauho
One of ours went out for 3 days in early June when Texas was clocking 100+ every day. Without completely overloading the 2nd one we could only get the house to the low 90s until we got the other unit replaced. It was miserable
7thor8thcaw
I would sleep in my car.
VitaminJay
I grew up in one. It's hell. Too hot outside and your parents send you out into it, then the house warms up all day so it's 100f at night.
xmaneds
your parents needed to install an Attic Fan to deal with that excess heat
JustSeinfeldQuotes
That's what we had, pure heaven feeling the outside air come pouring in.
VitaminJay
We rented. So that wasn't gonna happen.
xmaneds
oh shit, sorry to hear that, I understand. you have my retroactive condolences
VitaminJay
All good. It was 31+ years ago, now.
Hemelsblauw
Your body gets used to heat and cold after a while. Apparently, it's even good for you. But then again inside my house, it's currently 24 Celsius and outside it's 35. If it wasn't a rental, I'd add more insulation and add sunscreens on the outside. The problem with going back is probably that your income has gone down or other bad luck, and you'll feel sorry for yourself. You'll miss the luxury you treated yourself to. So probably no.
7thor8thcaw
Where does it say 105+ with the heat index is good for you? I've been to the ER twice in the last few months because of our crazy heat and working outside. The humidity is so high that I simply don't sweat enough to cool off. I grew up in the heat and my body is telling me to fuck off with spending any more time in it.
Hemelsblauw
Of course, there are limits to what your body can handle. 40 Celsius is just extremely hot.
SpitMatt
I grew up with just a fan in my room. We installed an AC a couple months ago and I can't understand how I ever got through the past heatwaves without one
Gestalt7
It's not just rose-tinted-glasses. The climate trends are becoming lethal without artificial cooling.
Kbantar
We have a small AC. Even with it, my GF and cats suffered heat exhaustion when it hit 111 here in Oregon a while back.

I live in the red...
QuantumBanker
I cleaned pools in the black part for a couple years. Drank 30 bottles of water one day and used the bathroom once, at night after that shift. It was yellow...
datphone777365
shame about those maga strongholds being ricecookered to death, maybe if they had raked their christo fundy bullshit into the dumpster "god" wouldnt have turned it on or W/E. "laughs in commiefornian".
Gestalt7
Unfortunately, it is those that live in the margins that will suffer the most as society crumbles and the climate cooks us.
datphone777365
thats why ya should fight tooth and nail. fuck the rich and their magagnats.
TheRockDude
dude, you know innocent people live there, right? like, it's not just GOP wingnuts who don't believe in climate change? if you're gonna laugh about innocent people dying, you need to seriously do some introspection. and don't invoke the left; you'll make the rest of us look bad.
datphone777365
fully aware, and hope they can afford to relocate or install ac and solar. and i dont recall claiming claiming the voice for the left. all that said for the maga swarm yeah im laughing. ive no sympathy for the sort that would see me dead. likely should have made all that clear but eh better late then never.
