Paid a man in beer to take me back to my flooded apartment on his jet ski so I could pick up a few things. On the way there he asked me if I wanted to see some shit, so here it is.

All I can think of is how much mold there will be once all the water recedes.

I'm surprised at how well it turned out. I took the picture with my S6.

If it wasn't on purpose I couldn't imagine coming back to everything burned and in water :( it's like a double middle finger.

I love the tree though !

The quality of the photo is astonishing

There is a video floating around in here of a boat using the motor to spray water on it while it was burning.

But don't insurance companies do extensive investigations to weed out fraudulent claims?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy shit I wish I had a live oak in my yard too.

The world is fucked when you can't tell the difference between 3D and reality anymore. This looks like a 3D rendering.

Is that an Imgur Giraffe at the bottom right!? Wtf

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So is no one really gonna talk about the giraffe in the right bottom corner (in the water)?

'Paid a man in beer' It's nice to see the barter system still works.

Wow I mean just wow

that house was the one put out by a boat.

I just watched them put out that fire with a bass boat. Lifted the motor and used the prop to blast the water onto the roof.

Creativity in tough times at its best!

That gif is currently right above your statement.

If i was rebuilding i'd be rebuilding on three meter stands. Why? Because I'm not paranoid if it does happen again.

At least build two story homes with all the good stuff on the upper floor. Leave ground level for play rooms and storage...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Could use the underside for like 'open' patio style areas and misc storage you don't care about too

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the same house as this gif

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

The colors are weird in that video.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are they using a speedboat mother to put out the fire?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Welcome to Houston.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not a speedboat, just a rescue boat with an outboard motor

Isnt it possible to recover flood damage? Sure, it'll cost a lot of money, but when the insurance company declares it intentional, >>

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then he really won't have a house.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The area had experienced flooding in the past, but nobody anticipated the catastrophic scale of destruction this time. Likely not covered.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

During the 1906 quake in SF, people weren't covered by earthquake insurance so they burned their houses. (1)

(2) Some historians think the great fire that followed the quake would have been much smaller if it weren't for all the arson.

Hehe, sad but true.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously? Hadn't heard that.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Oh wow! I love SF history - didn't know this one! I do know that the fire was way bigger than the Chicago fire.
