Well, Mars is technically international waters...

That'd make a great Tesla ad. Scene from the movie "What does that kind of isolation do to a man?" Cut to Damon on Mars doing donuts

That was terrifying.

I still dont quite understanf why this movie was so popular

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Because it was really good, and people like to watch good movies.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because it was inspirational, the main character was easy to root for, and because it looked fantastic.

...they overshot Mars orbit with the third-stage burn. We don't know where it'll end up at this time.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

... it was never planned to put the roadster anywhere near mars orbit. All that was planned was a fly-by.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't think anyone thought a Tesla was going to soft-land on Mars.

This guys newest book Artemis is just as good as the Martian. Def recommend it if you liked the martian

It wasn't as good as the Martian. Not enough science, the story didn't make whole sense at times and he seemed obsessed with her sexuality.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

thanks for the suggestion. will buy it! :)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks. I was wondering if it was worth buying. Guess I'm going shopping now.

Wife got it for me for xmas, read it fairly quickly then immediately re-read to catch all the stuff I glossed over on the first read. Great!

Major plot holes. Most huge one is the population is way, way too small for all the domes and levels.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I personally found it was like an entire town of Andy Weirs that don't get along well with each other.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I liked it but I found that the main character's personality to be lacking in originality

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I didn't like it nearly as much as the Martian. It felt like there were a lot of sub plots that were just left unfinished. I don't know.

He already has a new boom out? To the book store!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait, boom? Well I'm already committed to it. Now I must always refer to books as booms.

Guys, if you've read the Martian, prepare to be underwhelmed by Artemis. The premise and world building are great, and so are a few of the1/

Characters, but the action was, to me, generally underwhelming and predictable. By the end, I was really slogging through it. 2/

If you buy it, I genuinely hope you like it more than I did. 3/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's it about?

Aluminium welding, mostly.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pfft more like aluminum smelting.

Its really well thought out and a really fun read.

The audiobook is a good listen, too. Narrated by Rosario Dawson.

Read your comment as Rosie O'Donnell. Idk why... was super confused though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw that. I would almost picture her playing jazz as well.
