Call me crazy, but I don't think something like disaster aid should be something that's arbitrarily decided by a single person. Trump's presidency has clearly demonstrated that the US would benefit from having the position wield less power. The fact that a single person can effectively hold things like federal funding as ransom literally at will honestly makes it feel more like a dictatorship than a democracy at its core. "Nice state you got there; it'd be a shame if something happened to it..."

After the Texas Winter Storm Crisis of 2021, gov. abbott R-TX went on fox news to blame: Biden, the Dems, Wind Power, Solar Power. TheGreenNewDeal; when in fact, gov. abbott himself was directly responsible because he was the TX AG who sued the federal gov't to block fed winterization rules, plus Wind/Solar performed exactly as expected, TheGreenNewDeal was just an idea at the time (not actual policy yet), and republicans (not Dems) have controlled TX now for 25 years.

I mean the one state was only $2 million though, you know, the cost of a round of golf for him. Red states now think how awesome this is but this year we didn't have major issues like a hurricane, come next year if we do and a red state gets a lot of destruction Trump in no way will fund them, he freaking CAMPAIGNED on eliminating FEMA letting states take care of themselves. I think the three red states this time only totaled like $40 million which is pennies.

Texas received $50-Billion from FEMA after Hurricane Harvey, but gov. abbott R-TX didn't allot any of that money to Houston even though Houston sustained 50% of the damage. Houston votes Dem, but abbott is so stupid he doesn't realize republicans in Houston were impacted by the storm, not just Dems. fvck the republican party.

My local Maga person spouts so much BS I said to them "just give me your best fact, with the best evidence and I'll look that up". They said that Biden didn't help red stars during a hurricane. So I went straight to what the Republican governors of those states said, all said they were really grateful to Biden, he'd rung then personally, and offered the government's help. As a Vermonter this is actually funny. We had massive flooding the past 2 years, some so bad that it required FEMA assistance, but it mostly affected the north east part of the state, which is DEEP RED MAGA country. I guess we got what we voted for!!! :-)

Not arguing. If the FEMA workers were being threatened, they needed to avoid getting hurt. It was a decision to protect the workers. They were getting doxed and threatened before this happened. Was it the correct ethical choice? I can't say, I wasn't there. But the way it's being claimed as political discrimination is definitely false. If democrats were assaulting FEMA then they would have been avoided, but they weren't so they weren't.
