I walked in to see my pitbull, Akasha, who has never had puppies, is now nursing a 4 week old feral kitten I saved.. nature is amazing!

I rescued a feral kitten from the middle of the street in front of my work after watching 2 cars run over it.. luckily it was between the wheels and didn't get hit.
Anyways, I brought it home and it has been with me and my pitbull, Akasha. My dog has never had pups, but I walked in and saw that she is now nursing this 4 week old kitten out of nowhere.. nature is amazing!

When humans do this it's called a wet nurse.

This is fucking awesome. Both you and the dog.

I once had a female yorkie, fixed, who fed two 8 week kittens like this. The vet said if all three were happy, to leave them to it.

My dog did this. Kitten didn't need milk, but was comforted by the gesture

I literally ran "over" three fox pups who were sunning themselves in the lane. When I looked back, they had disappeared.

You need to bottle feed that kitten ASAP!!! The kitten is just suckling as an instinct because it's hungry, your dog is not producing milk.

Is producing milk. And is eating dry food already. Doesn't do this always.

The kitten is old enough to NOT need milk, the kitten just needs kitten food now. Milk is unnecessary.

I don't understand some people. Who just lets a stray animal into their home freely? Vet FIRST. What if it's sick/fleas/ bad introduction?

So if you find a stray kitten or puppy on the side of the road in need after hours/on a weekend, it's just SOL for it then, huh?

Female mammals can produce milk from suckling.

Thank you! You're dead on with where I got the name too lol love the vampire chronicles

Can totally happen to humans, moms who adopt babies can in rare occasions produce milk. Milk happens from pituitary hormones

I really hope you realise that the kitten is 100% old enough to eat solid food and that even if your dog IS producing milk, it's not (1)

100 percent is producing milk. But kitten has ate regular food since I got it, it's not like this is it's main nourishment lol

enough for the kitty anymore, he needs food :) also, are you sure your dog is actually producing milk?

She is 100 percent producing milk, I had to lay the blanket out because she is wetting the couch up just by sitting on them
