Heath is beyond comparison with his role here. Watching it again is shocking because of the perfection of performance and out of obvious nowhere in the most isolated dark role he ever did. Before and of course, sadly, never after. Long live the legend.

Great movie brought down by its third act.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like how Michael Caine had lines in the party crash scene but was in awe of Ledger during the scene he just let him go at it.

6 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

An Oscar well deserved

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It is still one of my top 3 all-time favorite movies. Seen it more times than I will ever admit (in theaters too)

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

He made that movie, if it wasn't for his portrayal of the joker it wouldn't of been half as gripping

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP makes a statement, yet obviously hasn't seen Candy

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If he's beyond comparison, i really wish some would stop comparing newer actors to him and let them do their own thing.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Leto's Joker was a well acted rendition of what a modern-day, hipster base Joker could be like. Fight me.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

never watched it

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unpopular opinion: Heath Ledger was good in this role, not great. He just stands out in the film because everyone else is so flat and dull.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Maggie Gyllenhaal is probably the worst thing about TDK.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I still love him in that other knight movie too

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Fucking great movie! "A man can change his stars"

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A Knights Tale!

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Saw it twice it theaters..bought it as soon it came out on bluray. Cant wait to get it on 4k. One of my favs.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

"Popular thing is popular"

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

joaquin phoenix has impossibly large shoes to fill. If you gotta go, at least it was the greatest comic related cinematic performance ever

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I honestly think Phoenix is gonna nail it. He is such an incredible actor and definitely has the chops to play someone so insane.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

10 things I hate about Batman

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

He earned his stars..

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Fucking. Legend.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The Dark Knight is 10 years old?!?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*Technically* yes, it turns 11 on July 18th.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whelp gotta go watch them again

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Go ahead and downvote, but in my opinion it was an okay performance in a standard film venerated just because he died. If he didn’t, well...

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's the same thing nearly that happened with Brandon Lee and The Crow.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Heath was amazing but the entire movie was a masterpiece

I love unedumacated tumblr twits

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I scrolled down for this.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It freaks me out that when I watch that I don't see "Heath Ledger" I see The Joker.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Agreed his is one of my favorite rendition of the joker. He was the embodiment of a desperate man willing to dive to any depth of darkness.

6 years ago | Likes 191 Dislikes 13

He was hardly desperate. More like an actual demon than anything. In fact, so like one that I can just point his performance and say, "Yeah>

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

, that right there. That's how a demon would act if they ever existed."

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Acting like a addict to anarchy, shortcircuiting a whole system, that already is doing a perpetum mobile dance.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That video with the guy, "LOOK AT ME!". The camera gets still for those 2 seconds then goes back to his sporadic manner

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sure you've already heard it, but those handheld shots were all Ledger; he said he had an idea and Nolan told him to go for it.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep, first one was with Nolan's supervision, the other as all Ledger.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man I also just watched this today. Great film.

6 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 4

I urge you to watch it at least four more times. I've seen it countless times, and each time I discovered something new

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Bro, just watch it in slow motion and you won't miss a thing!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The books are better than the movies!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Worth watching some of Heath's older stuff as well. 10 things I hate about you and A knights tale are both fantastic

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And Brokeback

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 things I hate about you is weird to watch now though since Robin helping Batman get laid by the Catwoman :p

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Those 2 are among my all time favorites. Will watch them every time the tv puts them on

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just bought 10 things for a dollar at the library. Snagged some awesome titles at this clearance sale

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We will never know how he really got those scars

6 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 6

Eating too many zooper doopers!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

A bong exploded in his face

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He opened some plastic bag with his teeth

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's part of his Joker, the origin is not important, just the mission of proving the world is as crazy as he is

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Never open a bag of chips with a chainsaw

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously? He literally himself explains it in the movie!!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 17

Watch. It. Again.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Several times. Each different stories. None may have been the truth.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Or all of them

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seems legit

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I always chose to believe he did it to himself

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same. I think he did it because he idolized the black dahlia murder.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe he dueled in fencing in the 1930s, apparently that was a common injury.

6 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Mensur, and those injuries, is still a thing these days.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He left some legendary actors standing around like fucking extras in that film.

6 years ago | Likes 1485 Dislikes 10

This is a perfect description of it...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Michael Cain even forgot his line when he first saw him in the Joker outfit, he was left speechless and in awe.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

And some ppl have the audacity to say he got Oscar only because he died...

6 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 4

I like how you said Oscar, like he got a person.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Still a 9 on IMDB after a decade. Impressive.

6 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 5

20 yrs from now, after Justice League is forgotten, after people lost interest in MCU, I think it's Nolan's trilogy that will be remembered.

6 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 4

Definitely for me, cause i never even saw any of the other movies.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea I enjoy MCU but most of them are pretty forgettable

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And most of them rely heavily on CGI, which may look outdated in the future.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Number 3 was so average though. Imo 2,1 then 3

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 4

#3 was a tragedy of it's production date. It's basically a "We're in a depression so lets fantasize about killing wallstreet" flick.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

True, but how did they let all the crap about the stockmarket stay in the final cut. So much of it just doesn't make any sense.

Can't upvote enough

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wasn't he actually really sick while filming that which just added to the realism of his character being sick

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was a goddamn legend in that one.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not disagreeing but lots of good acting in Tombstone. One of my faves

6 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

That's why Christian Bale said he wished to have done a better job to be at the level of Heath

6 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 4

Admittedly, it's a bit hard when you're playing Batman.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I felt Chris Nolan intentionally gave Joker the spotlight, since we already knew what Batman was like from Begins.

6 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Of course, modern Batman is all about the villains. It's still impressive to leave legends looking like amateurs in comparison.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Honestly, he was just fine. I always liked Bale's performance.

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Did he? Source?

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Agreed. Just told a friend, no one did bad in that movie, Heath just fucking owned the room. Incredible.

Thank you for your comment. It has been noted.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I'm sorry, Maggue Gyllenhaal was terrible.

6 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 4

God yes.

8 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The switch of a a new actress to the character didn't help either

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I can’t stand her. She’s a bad actress and her face freaks me out.

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

And her voice is like if American Ferrera and Sarah Silverman both had laryngitis while gargling actual chalkboards and nails.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

HAHAHAH that’s a perfect description.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

It's funny that people are freaking out over Robert Pattinson being cast as Batman. People did the same thing when Heath was cast as Joker.

6 years ago | Likes 491 Dislikes 15

Didnt knew. Fuckin 'ell twilight cuck aaaargh

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 11

I actually love Robert Pattinson as an actor, imo his acting was the only good part of Twlight

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was one of those over reactors, and was so blown away that I will NEVER do that again for any actor in any role for as long as I live.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you guys seen him in "Good Time"? He's a pretty good actor!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People flip their shot whenever someone is cast, Keaton as Batman for example he might not the BEST but he’s definitely a great Batman

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People is stupid

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you've seen either Robert Pattenson or Kristen Stewart you know they're both great at their profession.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly what I said - not that fanboys shitting the bed over casting choices they later furiously masturbated to was new even then.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

and Burtons call to cast Michael Keaton ruffled some feathers as well. Even now the idea seems odd but the guy did good.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I'm more worried about the director and the script writer than the choice of actor. It would be amazing if they did a Batman Beyond movie.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And have Robert play terry mgginis and get Michael Keaton to return as old man wayne.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I literally just posted that on someones fb post. Worst case the movie is bad, doesnt ruin movies of the past

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna wait for the trailer to make an opinion, it might be surprisingly good.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I mean if he channels all that depression and rage from doing the twilight series he will nail the role

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

It's funny because it's true!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Im hoping its batman beyond and hes cast as the young version, I think that would be incredible tbh. But I have no idea what it is

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was one of them, I scoffed at Heath Ledger being cast. Was very happy to eat crow, fing unreal.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I mean, look at the most recent previous Jokers - Mark Hamill's voice and Jack fucking Nicholson. Heath Ledger (of Brokeback Mountain) was->

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

not an obvious choice at that time. Of course it turned out great, but you can see how a critic at that time would have been skeptical.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

C'mon dude Robert has proved himself as an actor , over and over again

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Im just wondering why we need another batman movie.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

exactly, I dont care about any Burton Batman movies before The Trilogy and I dont care about anything coming after.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 100 Dislikes 3

I’m ok with this

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now that is something worth throwing my money at

6 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Amen! What are the chances ?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I just posted about this! Do it !

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I thought I copied the original link when you paste a favourite. It doesn’t...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think he'll do a good job. Robert Pattinson always got a bum rap. He hated the Twilight bullshit more than anyone.

6 years ago | Likes 186 Dislikes 3

This means wonder women, the only good dc series, is gone. He's too young so everything has to be redone for him

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Except for hes been terrible in every role hes played besides twilight. He just does that damn serious whisper talk way too much.

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 36

Which is pretty much how Batman talks so it might be OK

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That means he should be fine as batman

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Please watch The Rover so you can fix your wrong opinion.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Seems like very mixed reviews on this movie, probably a b film at best, I'll check it out, but I doubt I'll be impressed.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's probably the most impressive part of it. Certainly his best performance that I've seen.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That seems a fairly subjective opinion. I thought he did quite well in Lost City of Z, the last movie I remember watching of his.

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I think hes a much better musician, his acting is very meh, I also thought Lost City of Z was a meh movie though and his acting did nothing

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 7

To improve the movie at all. Of course everyone has their own opinions, and while I think he has the look for batman's apprentice, I just

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

I think using noises in place of adjectives is lazy.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I'm not going to say whether or not he'll be good. But wait for the goddamn movie before you make a judgment call.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Personally I’m not thrilled about it, but I’m ok with being proven wrong.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow. I didn't know he was cast as BM. Wtf and is there a preview? I have been happily surprised once. Just once.

6 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 4

He would be a great Terry McGinnis in a Batman Beyond adaptation if they went that route.

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

Go watch Good Time and are how good he is. He’s a truly great actor. I didn’t respect him until I saw that. Also: it’s dark fyi

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I vote dwayne Johnson as batman.. anyone will do if is just tormented enough in his life, problem is that most are just to old.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Dwayne Johnson as Bane

But Peter dinklage as batman, that would be fun..

I didin’t know the abbreviation for batman was BM

I can’t stop reading it as bowel movement.

BM also short for BatManuel. SM gets tricky due to Spider Man, Super Man, Super Mario, Spud Man, Spunky Monkey, Sick Memes and BDSM.
