D and D guys I need you're help!!

Nov 15, 2023 2:31 PM

I got a guy at my work who plays as my secret Santa.

I've never played myself but see a lot of memes and references on here.

I'd like to get him something D&D related but have no idea what to get.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what I could get? Would like it to be something serious he could use but if there's some in joke item he would understand that would be cool to.

The Dungeons and Dragons cookbook.

Everyone will suggest dice, Books and Supplements are 'iffy' unless you know what they already have. But anyways, Secret Santa is about doing something special. Etsy is a good idea, but look for a nice tooled leather bag that could store dice or something fantasy related, you can't go wrong with a nice two handed sword.. Erh okays, thats a little large, but a pewter tankard, skull candle holder, dragon statue, leather book cover or evern some 'Dwarf Bread' (See Terry Pratchett)

I absolutely love DnD. The one item that I would REALLY love would be a gift card for Hero Forge. Their basic plastic custom minis are $19.99 or around £16. Etsy has lots of cool DnD items.

Dice are always good, but I would also recommend maybe a gift card to Hero Forge so they can get a custom model for one of their characters. Any sort of fantasy art print or a favorite book could also work. Best of luck friend, lots of good suggestions in the comments here

Dice towers and trays are pretty safe imo, and you can find some really creative ones for $20 or less. If you have a board game store near you they can help you pick something out. Plus, you'll support a local business!

A nice dice set or a dice rolling tower. Or both, depending on budget. If nothing helps a giant bag of snacks for his next evening. (Ideally stuff he can share)

Animated Spell Cards from Hit Point Press - https://hitpointpress.com/animated-spells - I gave these to my dungeon master as a gift and it was a big hit. You can get them just one or many depending on the dollar amount.

they also have conditions and other status, character, action card sets. also if you get them like the 1st level spells deck, then they might collect the rest on their own.

Depends on how much you are looking to spend. Now at the expensive end you have D&D source books the trick there is that they are pricey and their quality varies from title to title. Some don’t offer much others offer really cool campaigns and content but you also have to know what they already own. On the cheaper side of things you can always buy them minis you can always opt for a large one or maybe one or two smaller ones as your budget fits. The other thing I could recommend is getting>

Depending on budget, custom dice from Etsy usually makes my players VERY happy.

I got 12 piece dice sets for myself and my players and they absolutely love them. Has a unique D4 shape that's easier to pick up over the usual pyramid shaped ones. Lots of pretty options and decent prices. https://role4initiative.com

Correction, 15 piece with arched D4. https://role4initiative.com/products/set-of-fc-opaque

Most people are going to say dice, but as someone who roleplays I have sooo much dice already. There are also some sweet dice roller towers, character sheet boards/DM screens, miniatures, and art out there. Also a fancy tankard or goblet to drink from while gaming might work.

After the other suggestions I've been looking and there's so many, any in particular that people always like? Like the metal ones?

Metal ones are cool. If you look on amazon there are offers for all kinds of dice sets. Search for "dragon dice" find one you think that they will like or which price point you prefer.

Thank you

Getting a set of some nifty-looking dice is always a safe bet (a "set" of D&D dice is a d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20). Beyond that, look up places like Elderwood Academy and Wyrmwood Gaming; they make high quality accessories like dice rolling trays and gaming kits. You could also just browse something like Etsy for D&D stuff.

Amazing, thank you very much! Dice has been mentioned a few times but I had no idea which ones so cheers for listing them

Honestly, any. Get the moose poop set from artisan dice. Yes pricey, but who else has poop dice? Also, I would avoid wrymwood. Can't go wrong with anything dnd themed. Models, coasters, DM screen.

Poop dice you say...... Interesting

Why avoid wyrmwood? Did I miss something they did?

In a few of their blogs a few years ago, when they were restructuring, the CEO was very much against worker safety. To the inspector was saying he doesn't mind if workers wear unsafe Bluetooth earbuds(didn't care if they were rated for work or not), didn't care if they were listening to music on them when using heavy dangerous equipment, and didn't care to make employees take and document safety requirements. Didn't care about employees cause it costs money.

Ugh, gross. That's unfortunate.
