Day 26 is the Seven Arm Octopus or Haliphron atlanticus. They actually have 8 arms but 1 of the males’ is very tiny and coiled beneath their right eye - the hectocotylus which is used for egg fertilization. This is the second largest octopus species after the Great Pacific octopus which can grow up to 20’; the largest Seven Arm discovered was 11.’ They have been found at depths around 3020’

Bonus fun fact courtesy of the EVNautilus Livestream: I recently found out that octopuses don’t have any tentacles because tentacles only have suctions on the tips. Today I found out that tentacles also only have one purpose - catching food - as opposed to arms which are multipurpose.
