Cat tax. Many beautiful cats live at my school.

#10 I think that people finding non-human justification to do bad things will predate the concept of 'God'.

#1 Is this technically possible? Buy your own debt for cents on the dollar and forgive it? Probably something blocking it but it sounds possible...

#1 To forgive is divine.

#6 Always. Upvote. Pratchett.

Start of quote:
It was much better to imagine men in some smokey room somewhere, made mad and cynical by privilege and power, plotting over brandy. You had to cling to this sort of image, because if you didn't then you might have to face the fact that bad things happened because ordinary people, the kind who brushed the dog and told the children bed time stories, were capable of then going out and doing horrible things to other ordinary people.

#9 then wouldn't you still be "in prison," just somewhere else?

#18 ironic that this would be the quote attributed to "E. E. Cummings" and not how he would have put it, "e e cummings"
buddhanature
My first thought, but when I went to cite him in re-writing, evidence suggested he mostly did the lowercase business on the spines of books, and in the poetry. I couldn't find when he started signing it lower case.
In any event, when I re-shared it, I wrote it in lower case... it just looks right. I also typed his poem in lower case instead of capitalized... i hope he doesn't sue me.

Beat me to it.
The capitalization is almost presidential.

You'd think he would be worried about the "cummings" part, rather than the "e. e." part

#5 Being present in a world that rewards being in survival mode is an act of rebellion.
ladyjigglebutt
I wish I could figure out how to get out of survival mode. Hell, I wish I knew what not being in survival mode even feels like. I've been in survival mode for 2/3rds of my life at this point and I can't remember how it felt before. My life is the short bits of semi-calm that happen between traumatic events.

I hear you. My nervous system was WRECKED from all the cortisol production. Look into the vagus/vagal nerve (it's commonly called both). Learning how to diaphragmically breathe (it's our autonomic method that basically gets scared out of us) will at least help. It will feel hard and even scary at first bc you aren't used to those feel good hormones flowing...and your nervous system will be like *wtf is that!?* Resist the resistance if you can. Message me if you want tips to calm your system

Great quotes, I only have one that I can remember by heart and always say out loud whenever a friend leaves a discord call.. although it is a bit silly.

That, and I always have kind of a problem with this type of "inspirational" quote. My room IS a prison because I work nine hours a day to afford it, which means I'm usually too tired to do anything when I get home to it, and I live in a city where they've kind of TAKEN the outside away unless you're spending money to do anything out there. Which I can't. Because I've spent all my money on my "prison".

I'm openly trans and have a .gov email. I'm pretty sure I'm fucked anyway.
That reminds me, I need to put my pronouns in my signature.
