Dog worried his buddy isn't moving (he was anesthetized)

That sad whine made me cry a lil bit...

Most of us would react the same way if we thought we'd just lost our best friend.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know that dog means well, but surely letting it constantly nudge and bustle around their KO'd friend is a shit idea.

We call these “sad whale noises.” My parents’ dog does them when he’s particularly moved by music. Maybe he’s telling us he hates it lol.

These kind of videos stress me out so much and I feel my eyes well up with tears.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is immesely sad to me. We just said goodbye to our oldest furbaby at home. The youngest said goodbye too.

I think the shepherd is distressed from being still under effect of his own anaesthesia, plus his pal unconscious. We need closure!

Now they have a preview of what is to come if the gsd outlives his friend.

Why freak out the poor boy?

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Another comment said both dogs are waking up from anesthesia, but its wearing off faster for the bigger dog

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You monster, post a follow up where doggo is happy because friend is awake.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My damn chest

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Both dogs are waking up. Just the Shepard is bigger and is burning it off quicker. That’s why he is not getting up.

6 years ago | Likes 367 Dislikes 1

It’s dosed appropriately for the weight of the animal, I don’t think they received the exact same.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you. I was really wondering why these dogs were allowed to be together in such a distressing situation in the first place.

6 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 0

Plus ketamine is a bitch. Was wild in my high school days.

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Yea that’s a road I ain’t ever going down again either

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea. And some dogs whine while they wake up. This happens frequently.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I also whine when I wake up after drugs.

At the Humane Society, you can volunteer as a surgery snuggler, who cuddles animals coming out of surgery so they’re not scared

6 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Is this really a thing?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At the one in Tampa, it is. Can’t speak for other ones but I imagine anyone with a surgery center would do the same.

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Oh, my sweet summer child....

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I never thought I'd see a German Shepherd having a panic attack. But here we are. Such a sweet dog.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ok... this is the second time I have seen this video and neither one has the joy the dog has when his best bud wakes up!1/2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2/2 I don't want the pain without the joy!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just for folks freaking out; Anethetized = sleeping/recovering. Euthanized = goner

I honestly thought OP just misspelled or thought that's how it was pronounced and spelled. What do I know.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Same. Either way I wasn’t “freaking out “ just sad for the dog

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can you translate please? Thanks

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Both dogs had anesthesia the GS wwas waking up and freaking out his buddy was still out. People are just saying “it’s ok buddy, he’s fine”

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poor guy. I hope when the time does come he goes first. He obviously would not take it well otherwise.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I've heard that they might recognize when a companion is dead from their smell, and understand it on some level. In which case, the 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

distress in the gif might be concern that the sleeping dog is actively in danger. 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The German was probably disoriented af and just sees his buddy not waking up, they were both anesthesized and the German woke up first.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh no! I want to believe he is just sleeping.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I think he's drugged up for a procedure, and the german shepherd is mistaking that for serious illness

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(like, the shepherd ISN'T smelling an indication that the other dog is dead, so is just really confused about it all)
