How about doing something about it?

Perhaps an important reminder is in order: This is for the primary, the Democratic Party has already chosen their nominee. The Republicans are headed to a runoff.

They fuck with every election they're involved in, at bare minimum.

Why do you people tolerate those fucking terrorists?!

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

After the treasonous slavers got their butts whipped in 1865, many of the traitors scurried off to Tejas so they wouldn't have to live with 'free' Blacks. They passed their bigotry down to every generation that came after. Politicians on the right have been threatening them with 'Black Massas' subjugating Whites and raping the White women if they don't get elected...

And believe that it is absolutely going to be a blueprint for the Midterms.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They've been fucking with the vote for years! I remember back in the 2010s talking to a political poll watcher, there's one democrat and one republican allowed to review the voter rolls and every two years this guy would sit down across from his Republican counterpart and watch them object to every single brown sounding voter name. Every. Single. One. For decades every brown vote has been double and triple checked because the truth is racist liars founded this country.

The turnout for the democratic primary in Texas was on par with the dem primary in 2008. That was a presidential race. This is a midterm. The turnout for the general election is gonna be crazy. Talarico won and I think he’s gonna win the Senate seat. The person replacing Jasmine in her district is a black preacher who seems super woke. Here he is:

As advice for future elections: VOTE EARLY. You have options as long as you vote in your county if you vote early.

And the expected *GASP* -Hands over mouth- "Nobody could have seen THAT happening!?!?!!!!?' Act goes on just as every other time before, seconds before every American continues as before. Ya'all gotta stand the fuck up if u wanna see actual fucking change. Wake up America. (I mean, whomever left there isn't a brain-rotted, Child raping, nazi shit clown worshiper, of which at this point I sorta doubt are any NOT of that kind left)

“If the districts were fair we’d never win another vote” -some GOP wonk, from Texas IIRC

Looks like it's going to a runoff in May https://apps.npr.org/primary-election-results-2026/states/TX.html

3 weeks ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I can't wait for the interparty mud slinging while Talerico just has to run against the GOP. I hope he has the fight in him to do so.

3 weeks ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It’s going to be like shooting fish in a barrel. MAGA may not care about electing a crook, but everyone else not so much. Also the Democrats primary is over while the GOP’s isn’t even half over. Corny will be doing all the heavy lifting and will still ultimately lose.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Corny spent $70M just to come up 2 points ahead. It’s going to be an even more uphill battle in a runoff because the turnout will likely be lower which will favor Paxton. Talarico vs Paxton is the nightmare scenario for the GOP

3 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Gov Abbott donated to Talarico’s opponent’s campaign. The entire TX GOP is scared of facing Talarico.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Their attorney general bragged Texas turned blue in 2020 until he got involved

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ken Paxton did, yes. He's the one who's running against Cornyn in the GOP primary and the person who benefits from this decision.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And is also the one who was trying to prevent votes after causing confusion at the polls by getting the Texas supreme court to stay the lower court's order to keep the polls open longer.

Yeah but look at it this way: if he’s going to get blown out if the water, he can’t rig it. He can either take the L or shut it down.

And if he shuts down voting, then there will be no more excuses left.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yh sure, now all we have to hope is that amerimorons, the people of West Israel, who live in a culture that worships wealth, fame, stupidity and itself, will actually bother to vote. I'm not holding my fking breath.

Stfu. There were no excuses left in fking 2016. Get a goddamn clue already.

Good news is it's "only" the primary. This is Republicans fighting Republicans at this point.

But people need to be prepared for this in November. Texas has early voting. Use it. Stop waiting until the last second to vote.

And check your registration frequently.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, it's just the primary... for now.

Texas is the most actively rigged state in the US. Politicians from every party use it as a template for what they can get away with to ensure they personally remain in power. Every modern Jim Crow law has been tweaked in Texas to refine its maximum effectiveness

American Exceptionalism as per usual.

Capitalism, keeping us isolated, afraid, and insecure, even when we're around people and acting friendly... Obey, consume, talk shit about others that aren't there to defend themselves.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it's incredible how seriously they think they are special, that what happens everywhere else can't happen in the US, and that somehow what works everywhere else can't work in the US too. It's pure brainwashing, a mix of propaganda, misplaced pride, poor education and stupidity.

3 weeks ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

Hey now, we don't all think that. But a large proportion do. Propaganda and ignorance as re a hell of a drug.

3 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

well, you are surrounded by media that very carefully homit to tell how life is outside the border, except if it's stereotypical and who simultaneously tells you that you're the bestest freeest country in the world (so you don't want to change what makes them money)

3 weeks ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Yes, that's the "propoganda and ignorance" that I referred to. We are just a cattle farm for labor, services and monetary cows for the elite.

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What are they doing

3 weeks ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

They screwed with the voting locations and made is unclear. People are driving to multiple locations to even try to vote. The courts extended it but Paxton (who is on the ticket) pushed to stop the extension (it was) and now we will have lawsuits over it. Any vote after 7 was placed in a different box and won't be counted unless they have to. Not sure if this was just a democrat thing or a republican.

3 weeks ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

This year, in Texas, the voting is split by party, which means you get to vote for Republican primary or Democrat primary, but not both. The whole thing is normal scummy behavior (Paxton has been indicted on fraud for years as the AG, yes years, yes reelected as AG). The vote time cutoff will affect both parties, but many R races are headed to runoff, including R Senate race with Paxton v Cornyn. You can see why Paxton might choose to be scummy about it.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know that the TX supreme court is throwing out all ballots for those who were not standing in line by 7. Guess who's ahead?

3 weeks ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

?

3 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Talarico. This is a primary. To me, either candidate is good in this election between he and Crockett. But paxton is picking the gops opponent when its the actual election in November. Too bad this is systematically pissing off voters and will radicalize more people for November to vote against the gop here.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

No, this is not about the democratic primary.

That is if you go to the right voting location. That is what Texas is screwing with. People driving to multiple locations to even try to vote. The courts extended it but Paxton (who is on the ticket) pushed to stop the extension (it was) and now we will have lawsuits over it.

Where the hell is my bliss? A bunch of billionaires and politicians took it!

Imagine being black in the US and being wrongly convicted of a crime and spending 45 years in prison for it. When you get out and sue the state, they give you the equivalent of $1.86 per hour for all the time of your life they wasted. (Richard Phillips)

That's dystopian

Standing in line for 2hrs, confusion over new gerrymandered polling stations. Must be real nice to fix your own primary by virtue of being the attorney general /gallery/ZFm1IfX

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Voters were surprised tbey couldn't vote at usual location, judge ordered the vote to be open 2h longer, AG Paxton asked the Texas Supreme Court to stay ("disable") the judges order, they did and ordered polls to keep votes that arrived in that extension separate (presumably to throw them out)

3 weeks ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

It’s because suddenly you had to vote in your precinct instead of just anywhere in your county like before. A lot of people got to the polls and were turned away because of this. By the time they figured it out and got to the right polling place, it was after 7pm. There was an order to allow the polls to stay open an extra 2hrs, but AG Paxton shut it down. This should be totally illegal since he’s on the ballot. Study up on everything you’ll need to vote because they WILL be pulling this shit.

3 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As someone from a country where (1) voting day is a holiday, (2) polls are open for 2 days, (3) you can vote in advance via mail a month before, (4) your state _reminds_ you there is an election and where the polling locations are and (5) you're automatically added to the voter register when you move places: Democracy is holy. Those who do not want you to vote shall get punished purely on that basis alone.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

AG Paxton went to the TX Supreme Court to stay the Dallas county judicial order keeping the voting open later because of GOP shenanigans

3 weeks ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

There’s also the part where AG Paxton is the candidate currently leading in the senate primary vote count.

3 weeks ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So it's the duty of everyone to skip work or take a longer pause. You have to cheat the system if the system cheats you. Would send a message to the companies as well.

3 weeks ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Seems like a good day to organize a National General Strike.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As OP says, fucking with it... other commenter gave the answer, they are attempting to dismiss polling hour regulations because blue votes show up towards the end of day. Dense urban populations take longer to count. The poorer people can't afford to take time off work so they go end of the day. That sort of thing. It's always happened and its only getting worse

3 weeks ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 5

Texas businesses are mandated by law to allow all employees two hours of paid time off on a voting day. Changing the voting locations should affect both parties equally. And Texas allows early voting for its elections, so if you're waiting until 7PM on election day to get in line, that's on you. Really, it's hard to justify this only being unfair to only one party unless you truly believe those voters aren't smart enough to vote.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 85

Texas Statutes 276.004 is what you're referring to, and it contains 276.004(b) which creates an exception if the polls are open for two consecutive hours outside the employee's scheduled work hours. Since polls are open for 12 hours, only people scheduled for at least a 10 hour shift will ever be entitled to the paid time off for voting.

3 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And anyone working under 10 hours will have 2 hours either before or after their shift to vote. That's ample time, and again, there's always early voting if same-day is inconvenient for you.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Until they start cutting off those avenues of early access. Until they start reducing polling places. USPS. Until they start reducing polling hours and taking away peoples rights that they're allowed to cast a vote if they're in line before polls close. Until they show up with guns at polling places... give em an inch they'll take the next inch, the next one, the next. I give people benny doubts on a lot of shit so I'm hoping I don't think you're cool with a clearly tactical disenfranchisement

3 weeks ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

Because 2 hours and you're in Texas? Your polling place could soon be 1.5 hr away.

3 weeks ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

Again, early voting has been an option in Texas for literally decades. You've got a two-week window (17 days before the election to 4 days before the election, if memory serves) to do early voting. If getting there on election day is such a hardship, and voting is so important to you, it's on you as an intelligent, informed, and intentional voter to cast your ballot in a manner that DOES work for you.

3 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 11

This right here is the main thing. 2 hours paid time off isnt even enough time for my small town in northern Indiana with a population around 14000, and thats WITHOUT city-like traffic and heat crazed drivers. Its obvious theyll continue their assault if this is allowed to stand also, as they've done every election cycle all across the country. Its unreal people refuse to acknowledge Republicans attempts to shut down voting every single time.
