Jumping spiders are the skittish kittens of the spider world. They are curious about what you're doing but have no desire to participate

How can Something so ugly be so adorable?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Big eyes .. creates neoteny.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think they're ugly at all. A very dapper looking animal.

I caught a jumping spider at work and named him Harvey. I've been feeding him for 3 weeks and he's been getting bigger and more colorful.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Where are photos of Harvey?!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

ID the spider, she might be a female.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think we're gonna need pics for proof.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

OK YES IT HELPS A LIL BUT WHY

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Do you think they use them for glasses?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They're so cute and terrifying.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sssssmoking!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Why?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Either because of rain or photographers with pipettes.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They don't really do this, the photographer admitted that he used a pipette to stage the photos.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

U made spiders interesting?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I think the spiders with water hats made spiders interesting

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spiders are super interesting.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

I showed my toddler a bunch of baby spiders living in this complex web today. It was the coolest!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The only spider that I can tolerate. Cute

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

For some reason the one with the "rainbow hat " looks so darn happy

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

That's my favourite. I'm sending these to my buddy sporadically over the weekend and saving that one til last.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#2 looks like Spider Mario

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Spiders are just shy roommates.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Yes, this makes me feel a bit better.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That last pic looks like hes on a nug.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I scrolled through until I found your comment! It really does, doesn’t it?? Would you still smoke it though??

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You bet your ass i would

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This does not trigger my arachnophobia.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Save the pictures for perspective?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Same. It's the 2 large main eyes and the hair. They cut through the normal fear. Other spider types can't be personified.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I used to have terrible arachnophobia. Now I just tell myself, "They didnt ask to be creepy af." and instead of squishingthemIputthemoutside

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I do that but my mum kills them on sight

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Characterlimitssuckdontthey?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Indeed

HOW DARE YOU SHOW ME AN ADORABLE VERSION OF THE THING I'M SCARED OF

8 years ago | Likes 576 Dislikes 2

Preeecisely!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spiders are your bros, they eat all the other crawling horrors

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Dem eyelashes

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Most jumping spiders are spider bros. They are passive to humans, and keep your house clear of other unwanted guests.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Haha! Agreed! First time I've looked at a spider and thought "awwww". It's just not right!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Even the more terrifying looking ones actually jump

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I take jumping spiders out of my home by catching them in a plastic cup and gently tossing them outside where they belong.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Ok that is just adorable

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He's loading his cannons

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I have overcome my fear of the jumping variety of spiders simply because of adorable imgur things

8 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

This.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never seen a jumping spider bigger than a ladybug. Never heard of one biting a human either. They eat gnats so I let them stay.

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

The bigger ones (black with green eyes) ive seen eat cockroaches

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was having a bad day. Now I think I might be ok.

8 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 1

Yes, just remember this when u feel like shit

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

you'll have a great day

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same:)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Do you need a ?

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This show needs a rewatch. It's been too long.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Surely that'd only slow them down?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, some chicks can run in high heels. Maybe they adapt?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah Ig, still though, that thing has to weigh atleast a 1/4 of their own body lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd say they knock it off before jumping. Probably serves as a canteen for now.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But why?

8 years ago | Likes 226 Dislikes 1

camoflage!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It actually looks like these are staged photographs. The artist puts the droplets on their head. No real biological impetus for the behavior

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They don't really do this, the photographer admitted that he used a pipette to create the photos

8 years ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 2

Fashion of course!

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's to catch particles in the air I would assume

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Maybe when the light hits the drop it shines and keeps birds away?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

I think birds are more likely to go after something shiny, I know crows do.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Google says they're staged. :(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Potentially as bait I'm thinking? Little buggo flies down for a thirst quenching, spidder gets free delivery!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

8 years ago | Likes 297 Dislikes 0

Trust me - I'm a jumping spider

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

He is. I trust him.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'll accept this explanation.

8 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

Dude you just about made me wake the house laughing! I had to stuff a dish towel in my face to muffle the sound. Priceless

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Im wondering if it could provide a 360 degree field of vision for the spider

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Probably, but everything would be blurry

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

probably but they can process information from 8 eyes so maybe they are able to make sense of it in some capacity

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They can't but I really like the theory so I'll just accept that they can.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Staged by photographer

8 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 5

We need to stop photographers from waterboarding spiders for the sake of a cute photo.

8 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 2

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Some do carry water around to drink. Just as others carry a bubble of air to breathe under water.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

The water droplets are staged by photographers, as salticids don’t place droplets on heads for storage or any other reason. It is cute tho..

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Well that's disappointing. It is cute though.
