Largest military budget by a factor of 4-8x in the world. Not even including US Intel, DHS paramilitaries, Mass incarceration, COIN warfare on US citizens adding another $250-500 billion The U.S. military budget is the largest in the world, totaling approximately $997b in 2024, which accounts for nearly 40% of global military expenditures. The U.S. spends more on defense than the next 9 to 10 countries combined. This expenditure is roughly three to four times higher than China's estimated $317b.

American history has pretty much been fucked up since the Puritans landed here, and from what we've seen the last couple hundred years hasn't changed a whole hell of a lot
Not really. Its had ups and downs. Like between 1944 and 1964 the rich had to pay 92% income tax which forced them to either invest in their workers or choose to pay tax to the government. Both of which options resulted in creating the golden age of america. Its been racing downhill since 1965.
He wasn't, he was a symptom. America has been a bollocks of an attempt at a country since it was stolen from the natives. At no point was America a good concept.
Puritans were such religious extremists no one in England listened to them. But yeah sure… they were fleeing religious oppression or so American history classes say. Remind you of US Christian nutjobs screaming about canceled christmases and wondering why they cant have brown slaves ?
The 'oppression' being that they weren't allowed to aggressively persecute others really just shows that that bully-playing-victim side of some people hasn't changed.

In most movies and books, you would say they are two dimensional villains and would only be villains for children's cartoons.

Almost every single day, I read something that makes me think, “Nah… he couldn’t have said something that stupid!” And yet he does. Every single day.

We all see it. They describe places they hate in terms of what's common in the USA. It's mass psychosis, if it's anything.

Yes. It comes to mind. It's depressing realizing three things since I became an adult.
1) I didn't give cartoon villains enough credit. I thought them absurd but Trump and crew have proved me wrong.
2) That satire loses meaning when people are so transparently absurd in their evil.
3) Realizing that the worst people in charge are willing to cannibalize everything and everyone in the nation for their shortsighted goals.

We went to space. I'd like to see the Mayflower accomplish that. This comment is meant as humour.

Was lucky enough to spend a couple Halloweens in Salem. A lot of fun. And yes, Puritans were (are) the absolute worst.
