I dont think its "trying to look like barbie" - I think its an in-group sign of submission to mutilation. Most of the men in this group are afraid of or unable to genuinely interact with women. So in order to mitigate that, both the women elect, and the men subject them to this uniformification of themselves to make them distinct from the class of "woman" and instead some class of "acceptable" and "in the know" that makes them both more docile and more approachable

My 2 cents - rather than turning this into another political jab … how about discussing the actual real issue we’ve got here in the US? Another in a long line of “steps backwards” this nation has taken. Treating women as objects rather than humans. Plenty of Democrat women are also swarming to the plastic surgeon because they feel insecure and inadequate. Countless other things the six above can be criticized for - but appearance? Meh. It's less about the aesthetics and more about how MAL face is well into uncanny valley. Like you can consciously recognize it as human, but it's so different from the default human face that the "lizard" part of your brain is screaming "not human, but trying to imitate human".
The MAL face (to me) looks like a poor-fitting rubber mask glued to someone's face. Or Chucky. Not ugly, but not quite "living human"
