Been in Turkey a lot, most of them are friendly folks. They do have some stand-out assholes of course but judging an entire people based on their worst specimens seems unfair.
Also strikes me that Kazakhstan *did* create the issue by insisting on bringing a ginormous flag in the first place to spread across the entire length of the podium instead of doing the more reasonable thing of bringing an individual smaller flag for each participant. Left no good place for the Turkish participant's flag.
