I like to think Bowie and Iggy are used to that from people

I love finding out which icons worship which icons- especially when they talk about MEETING their heroes. Their stories are like a peek behind their public façade. A glimpse of the human behind the “brand”.

Love Henry

I like David Bowie as a wacky wonderful person, more than I like his music. He is like in 80th place as far as musicians for me, but number 2 behind Freddie Mercury as a celebrity.

David Bowie, the guy who fucked underage girls and cosplayed as a Nazi? That David Bowie?

So happy to upvote this.

I don't have to feel guilty for liking him so much. A lot of "celebrities" are complete assholes when they can get away with it
kmikl
When he was young, he was into that sort of thing, and then he found out how badly he got scammed, he grew up and started helping others up.
SavageDrums
I haven't been able to find it in years, but Henry Rollins talking about meeting Iggy Pop is one of the funniest videos I've ever seen.

Bowie was a fabulous artist. Some of the first albums I ever bought for myself when I got a job. Have you ever seen him in 'The Prestige'? Great film, great part.
johnblood616
Boy, Imgur looove to hate pedos like Dump and Nazi cosplayers unless they have some kick ass albums.

If I recall correctly, this is something you can encounter in Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.

Oh, no... no no no nonono.. David Bowie isn't dead. He's moved on to make another plane of existence much cooler, and left us to keep doing the work.

Look up here…

I've been listening to his album Station to Station pretty much on repeat for the last month. Puts me in a good mood
AntaNce
In my top 3 Bowie albums! 'Once there were mountains on mountains-And once there were sun birds to soar with-And once I could never be down'
TerribleAwful
thanks, now "Golden Years" is in my head. appreciative, it puts me in a good mood too!

As a Henry Rollins fanatic, complete with Black Flag tattoos, I must say that his music saved me!
Icetech3
I listen to who's got the 10 and a half weekly at work.... Spoiler: kira's got the 10 and a half!
KingOfTheImgurians
Yup, Rollins and his words were a poultice to my angsty soul as a kid.

I get a striped logo deckle for my van but would have to compete for Ink Spots from the Husker Du logo
nihil777
Black Flag definitely kept me sane through my teenage years. Well, maybe not sane, but still upright. It also may be the cause of me raising a tiny anarchist. Not sure
thatwoodguy
His books did the same for me in my twenties. Especially heartwarming was The Autobiography on his friend Joel Cole with she finished up and published, Planet Joe.
FortifiedWhine
Well, all tiny humans are basically pure anarchy.
bigleciezki
Have you heard, that after nearly 20 years absence from music, he went back into the studio, to record a 4 song EP with his old pal Ian MacKaye ( Minor Threat, Fugazi ) ?
LateNightBunnyParty
Man, I was so into the whole straight edge punk scene. Played in a band. SO much fun back in the day.
MarsIsAfire
That is totally false. It's not them, and it's not new. "Last week I told you that I went up to DC and mixed some tracks with Ian MacKaye at Inner Ear Studios .... The tracks we mixed were not a collaborative effort, besides the mixing itself. ... Neither of us are on the tape. What we were working on was a demo, recorded in 1979, by a legendary punk band that recently came into my possession." - https://www.henryrollins.com/on-the-radio-all/2025/11/7/radio-broadcast-866-11-0725
slidewhistlesymphony
I know now, and will be on the lookout for this new EP! It has been way too long for the hardcore punk community!
bigleciezki
Damn, sorry to dissapoint y'all, but now Henry has clarified that they didn't hit the studio to record new music, but to mix a demo from some unspecified old punk band from 1979 that he got his hands on. So no singing or playing by Henry and Ian on this one. : (
Icetech3
Kinda hoping it's soft jazz or something odd
Magnar1183
He drops an Owl City inspired EP. Lol
GravyEducation
I was sitting in a grocery store parking lot when I heard the news on the radio and then they played 3 bowie songs back to back. And I didn't get out of my car to get groceries until the songs were over. RIP Bowie, you rare egret
Snooj
Today out of nowhere the lyrics to Space Oddity came into my head. So of course I listened to it.
JemIsTrulyOutrageous
I woke up to texts from so many family members. I am a big Bowie fan and everyone was like checking in on me, I didn't even know what happened yet I had slept in. I went and bought his album Blackstar, I didn't listen to it for a few weeks. I couldn't knowing he knew his diagnosis when making it. Lazarus video had been playing a few weeks earlier, it didn't dawn on me it was a commentary, I just thought he was channeling David Lynch. I've only listened through it once. Its still too painful.
GravyEducation
Yep, Lazarus is to Bowie what Hurt is to Cash, it just gets associated with their final days
ROGUEdenied
He loved New Orleans and had ties here. We did a huge "second line" in NoLa for him, so many people came out. I will never forget it.
Polymathena
Supercool
kmikl
Is that like a funeral procession? I'm honestly curious.
New Orleans is one of my favourite cities, and I'm only sad it's in the US right now due to the current political situation. Prior to Nov. 2024 I was planning on spending a few months there, but... well, you know what happened.
ROGUEdenied
Here is a decent history of our beloved "Second Line" https://www.neworleans.com/things-to-do/music/history-and-traditions/second-lines/
kmikl
Thank you for this :)
I had thought this was something similar, but I'm glad to know a bit more about it now!
ROGUEdenied
Now come to New Orleans and experience one. They are magical.
