Meanwhile there is a pilot sitting as a passenger who thinking "phew.. I really don't feel like working on my vacation"

You know planes now days can fly themselves.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They practically fly themselves.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*crashing a jumbo jet

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What if we can actually fly the plane?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not being able to see the other engine makes me uncomfortable.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does the radio still work? I can take directions from the tower.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You yell out, "I CAN!" and then whisper very quietly, "try"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've played enough flight simulator and watched executive decision like 9 times. I think I could wing it....

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think I could figure it out.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mythbusters did an episode, If a passenger could land a plane safely. Adam and Jamie landed the plane safely with the help of air traffic co

*No video was ever provided*

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd be like 'hell yea" but then I'd bust out my bad ass nunchucks with a dragon on 'em that Bruce Lee drew and fly the plane with them.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of when I got to use a flight sim at a base & I did better with it than anyone, including a kid who just got his pilot's license

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, you won't be flying. You're going to be radio bitch for the non-incapacitated pilot. If they are both uncapped, no announcement is made.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

id probably still volunteer for that >_>

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can fly a plane... landing is another question entirely

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If Hulk can land plane, I can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmYsrBE8EF0 Fond memries from my youth.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can 100% guarantee I could get that thing on the ground. Maybe not in one piece, but I digress...

10 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

or in the water...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have great coverage.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

After playing Microsoft Flight Simulator for years the odds of me landing the plane have increased by at least a few percent.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same. I know whatever the flaps are at, they should be at something else. Also, the landing gear is the same thing as the taking off gear.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I once saw a 360° video, filmed in a cockpit, which showed takeoff and the landing. I feel I could land one of those bad boys

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

With the right amount of luck of course

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Let me google it! Yes I can! I'm pilot, I can fly.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You want dozens of passengers to volunteer to fly a plane? Because that's how you get them.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Do you want ants? Because that's how you get ants!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The mile high brawl.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There are dozens of us!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I could fly the plane all the way to the scene of the crash.

10 years ago | Likes 242 Dislikes 0

Omg, this reference.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which is pretty handy cause that's we here we're headed

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bet we beat the paramedics there by half an hour

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would you get passed by a kite?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well that good because that's where we're going.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

and call yourself tater salad?

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I bet you'd beat the paramedics there by at least a half hour.

10 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 2

fuck i cant remember what this was from!! Halp!?!?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

RON FUCKING WHITE!! THANK you!! I KNEW i knew it from something...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep! @dNa87 thx for picking up my slack, life called.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Dude the pizza boy beats me to my house before the cops and ambulance

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Shouldn't flight attendants have a basic knowledge of flight?

10 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 8

They are the sky equivalent to your convenience store clerk

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

IIRC some planes can land automatically at certain airports. The autopilot should be able to detect non-responsiveness and send out a mayday

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

describing which airport it's chosen to land at.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This may be a stupid question.. But can auto pilot land a plane???

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On some aircraft with CAT III autoland, yes.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes but it needs to be setup to do so. A pilot doesn't program the autopilot before takeoff and then it does it all from start to finish.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have a basic knowledge of flight. In the air = flying. Not in the air = not flying.

10 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

There's also falling...with style.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

some may call it... flying

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nic Cage's face with weird expression and "You Don't Say?" as the caption .gif.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been doing it all wrong

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I have a high school understanding of 2D projectile physics. I believe I'm more qualified.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They do not, airlines will not pay to flight train flight attendants.

10 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

They barely pay for the pilots

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

Uhhh the captains in the majors like united, delta, american, fedex, ups, ect. Make freaking BANK! Talking $200,000-$300,000 a year.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The problem is that it's hard to break into the majors: http://www.economist.com/blogs/gulliver/2016/03/pilot-light

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, there's a huge pilot shortage. The smaller airlines are being hit the worst. It's a great time to start flight school.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There has never actually been a single event where both the pilot and Co pilot have been unable to fly for whatever reason

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

*Pilot and FIrst Officer.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pilot and copilot aren't allowed to have the same meal to prevent poisoning of both.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

German wings pilot who flew right into a mointain?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Copilot flew the plane

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Italy? there was, the whole plane feel asleep due to lack of oxygen and flew on autopilot until

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Something similar happened in the US, on a small private plane. It kept going until the fuel ran out.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

wasn't that an NCIS episode?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Might have been, but it was based on something that really happened.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They ran out of fuel. They sent up a fighter plane to see what was going on but there was nothing they could do.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

autopilot should be able to predict fuel shortage and trace ground for open fields/water to emergency land :\

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This was years ago. :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think that was Greece. Either way, if the pilots are both incapacitated by hypoxia or smoke, odds are everyone else is too.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

9/11?

10 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 4

HA

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lol

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Why is that funny?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

I am a UAV pilot, so I will fly it from the back of the plane.

10 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 0

I've put in at least 800 hours on Flight Simulator 2014. I feel like I could get it on the ground in one piece.

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

If you're flying a PMDG plane I bet you could, but the radios may be a trip for you. From FSX to Private License, radios are the hardest.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I imagine if you could raise anyone, though, they could help you learn to operate the radio.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's an FS2014??

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

P3D or if you load FSX with accu-feel and a few other addons it feels like a completely new game.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or get X-Plane

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Sometimes I forget x-plane. It has some of the best physics in the sim world, but I just happen to be a P3D guy.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

P3D?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i've always been curious, how exactly do you go from, say, having graduated school to flying unmanned vehicles? like what's the path to take

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The easiest is to join the military, all services have UAV programs though you better nail the ASVAB only the high scorers get the cool jobs

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i see. thanks for the response.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

what do you fly for the military? genuinely interested. getting a double major in flight and UAS currently

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

same. UND?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lewis U

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey! I'm UND too!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

haha what a small world! I probably see you around Odegard.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Early on flew the P-3 and S-3, when I made Chief Petty Officer, moved to UAV's and flew the RQ-7B Shadow.
