One guy made a short film that is better than a $300 million Hollywood movie. Give him some credit and love and go watch it. EDIT: Forgot to add the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoCcpMW8fSs&t=2s

I think this is the best thing I’ve seen in a very very long time. I couldn’t take my eyes off this. Fucking amazing.

amazing.

6 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Seven and a half minutes of absolute glory. This guy mopped the floor with every 'official' WH40K CGI that's ever existed.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The Emperor is pleased with the sacrifices made by this guy to bring us this glorious footage!

Just went and watched it. Wish it was a three hour epic movie. So good!

Netflix or amazon needs to pick this guy up so he can do the horus heresy

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I signed up as a 10 dorra patreon after seeing this, this guy could usher in a golden era of 40k films, we just need to support the guy!

Never bothered to look into Warhammer but thankyou imgur for introducing me to this video series.

We need a crowdfunded full movie.

Books you say? Where should I start?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Start with Eisenhorn-Xenos. It’s an excellent place to start.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Amazon was doing a kindle thing for the trilogy.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

YES!! Also glad he recovered from that bizarre sabotage.

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Please tell. Searching "astartes video sabotage" gave me nothing.

I'm not a religious guy at all, but every time I read Warhammer 40K lore I want to be in service of the Emperor of Mankind.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd watch 2hrs of this

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I really really want someone to pay him good money to get a full movie or series made. Also a sequel to the Space Marine game

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Weren't Astartes the like, best of the best, the cream of the genome crop? Wasn't Abaddon an Astartes?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The Inquisition would like to have a word with you...

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh shit, erm, look over there, it's the emperor! *Scarpers*

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well yes but actually no. Primarchs are the cream of the crop, then Custodes, then Thunder Warriors, then Primaris, then Astartes.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

However, there was rumours in the Great Crusade that Abbadon was actually Horus' clone.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thunder Warriors were proto Astatres so they should be worse than Astatres right?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In terms of strength they were described as being better, but it did come at the cost of long term instability with their implants.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ah, that makes sense.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looks like a Beksinski painting. https://imgur.com/ag6gYA6

I was just gonna say that. That picture is my favourite.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

In my understanding this is warhammer 40k. Could someone please tell me the lore of it in a nutshel? Tried googeling it but got so confused.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It looks like it was a peice of an old god that was corrupting everyone. Check out this thread: https://reddit.app.link/YzoqWJlwn5

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There is a lot but I'll do my best, I'm not expert. The Astartes are superhuman killing machines in a universe 40k years in the furture.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

https://youtu.be/-MeVxKZBOfM. Gives you an high level overview in a minute.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fucking no, not really.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

so you can get to know races, the world etc.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its like marvel I think, seperate universes and archs. The lore is extensive and deep

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Go watch Luetin09 and his The Emperor Of Mankind series. Start there, then continue down the rabbit hole.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Check out Luetin09 on YouTube, he has a lot of amazing videos about Warhammer 40K lore, everything from "in a nutshell" to detailed videos

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

FAR FUTURE. EVERYTHING BAD. CATHOLIC SPACE NAZIS ARE ALMOST GOOD GUYS. ELF ORGY TORE HOLE IN REALITY.

And everyone's going to be eaten by Tyranids.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Orks look forward to eternal battle against gribbly bitz. Orks vs. Nids forever.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Too much to quickly summarise but it's brutal military sci-fi at it's core crossed with supernatural elderitch horrors, + weird alien sci fi

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I would recommend checking out Warhammer 40k lore on YouTube, some good videos made for beginners to the lore there

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The cape on the other marine moves with the impact of the bolter rounds. That's some power behind those guns

6 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 0

Their “Bullets” are rocket powered grenades about the size of a soda can.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well they do fire rockets

6 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

God you have no idea. In the earlier episodes dudes were getting blown in half by them

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

3/4-inch HE micro-rockets, so yeah

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And some incredible attention to detail on the animator's part.

Serious question, what's that priest guy doing?

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

getting purged after being too friendly with them chaos fellas

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Succumbing to chaos. He was hearing whispers all throughout and then it was made clear he was no longer himself

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Intel gathering, either through tech interface or psychic powers, both of which can compromise the user if things go wrong (like this case).

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

That is how you deal with potential heresy :)

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This is how you exorcise in 40k.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can't possess a body if there's no body to possess.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If in doubt add more bolter rounds.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It sucks to be a psycker

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Wasn't this a Techpriest?

Inquisitor or Inquisitorial Acolyte. Check the symbol on his back.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(In the full video I mean)

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Any ideas about the canon history of that psychic sphere? Thing was Epic!

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Most likely Umbral. They are a sentient alien species that are psychically/warp sensitive. They are described as black spheres in the lore.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Either something he made or something obscure. Yu'Vath possibly? Maybe just Chaos being Chaos. Can't be Necrons, they hate the warp.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Probably a C'tan shard, both pieces of the Void Dragon. When the enemy ship one teleported it brought them to a dead necron world.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

it can't be a c'tan shard because they are EXTREMELY STRONG. the necrons use c'tan shards to power their fcking planetships :/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The guy says it’s his own creation. It honesty makes me think of an Umbral.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The YouTube comments say it likely is a chaos artefact and that it's likely Not khornate.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Probs The Emperors children, was lots of talk about “Perfection” which alines with them

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Could also be some sort of archeo tech from the golden age or just alien tech as well. With WH40K who knows.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I suspect after eating another two or three groups of investigators, they'll just nuke the planet and transport anything still solid into a

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

sun or something similar.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Depends if the Adeptus Mechanicus gets wind of it and it is alien tech. They do love studying it, especially necron tech.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don’t play 40k, haven’t read any of the books and don’t know much about it. But I would pay damn good money to have this on Blu-ray.

6 years ago | Likes 455 Dislikes 3

This^ but a 4K download for free

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eisenhorn or the Blood Ravens omnibus are great places to start off. Both cover a lot of ground with all the different factions.Ave Impertor

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

good news then! if you wanna donate go to his patreon linked in the video's description!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

'Helsreach' by Richard Boylan is another great series on a popular video streaming site - you might want to give that a try.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Forget the books. Start here: https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Imperium_of_Man . I recommend reading the intro part at the top, then 1/3

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

do the same for the Astronomicon and Immaterium pages, then read the Xenos, Space Marines, and Psyker pages. Open links in new tabs as 2/3

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you go and just lose yourself hundreds of pages of some of the greatest sci-fi lore in the history of mankind. 3/3

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I recommend if you like more down to terra man in the trenches stories go with Gaunt's Ghosts series or Ciaphas Cain series.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Gaunts Ghosts is sci fi Sharpe, Ciaphas Cain is sci fi Blackadder.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Look up luetin09 on YouTube. You might finish after coronavirus.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dot.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you just want to dive in, Eisenhorn is a great book series

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Eisenhorn is a good introduction the The Imperium itself as well.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Same, I've always been fascinated by WH40K, but my budget forbids it.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same here but the lore is great. There are a number of good YouTube channels that cover the lore in great detail.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Youtube channels for both the lore and tabletop so you know what's going on with it, as well as lore wikis as far as the eye can see.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Since you got book encouragement, recomend starting with Space Wolf it mildly explains abit about the Astartes and how some of them are made

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Another decent one is Dante. Less ripping and tearing and more grim dark teenage adventure.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And it’s just the best cos it’s Vlka Fenryka!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's not legally able to make any money off it, or the GW solicitors will be summoned in an unholy ritual.

6 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Fair point.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Would be nice though if gw hired him to finish it officially perhaps.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Well this chapter he says is finished and looks like there was a preview for a new one at the end of it.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They should hire him.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

GW is too busy to give the IP to every god damn mobile game firm there is to actually recognize true talent.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they would only taint him with their chaos

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Definitely give the books a try. There are a TON. Check out the Black Library collection

6 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

I suggest starting with Horus Heresy. First 3-4 books are definitely good.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Ive been looking for a good starting point, thank you!

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Or Eisenhorn. Has elements of most factions within the imperium and some of its inner politics.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Thats where I started and now ive been reading nothing but 40k for 2.5 years and own 50 books and have read 65% of the wiki lmao

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Horus Heresy is excellent series into wh40k history. If you want more recent, different omnibus collections are good choice.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I’ll be the naysayer here. Don’t start in HH. Marines are bitches in that series instead of the barely human demigods in 40k.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I suggest 15 Hours as the first 40k book. Then a trilogy series. Then when you learn the universe HH, because they are good but too human.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Keep in mind that the setting of the horus heresy is somewhat different from 40k, another good start is the Eisenhorn trilogy(imho).

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Eisenhorn for the win...you can skip Ravenor though.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just wanna get into the story. Its an extensive universe with a lot of books, I just have no idea where to start so Im not lost in lore.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

are the books any good?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Black Library can be a hit or miss, but Dan Abnett (Eisenhorn, Gaunt's Ghosts) and William King (Space Wolf) are safe bets in my opinion.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

thanks always wanted to get into it after a friend kept ranting to me about the lore, super facinating

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Horus Heresy is really good. Prospero Burns is a fantastic book in its own right, not just for 40k.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends on the author and what content appeals to you. I'm more of a fan of regular men besting the odds so read books on normal men.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Anything by Dan Abnett is usually pretty fantastic.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Big fan of Gaunt's Ghosts series.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me? I am Alpharius.
