A folk metal band from Finland. While other folk metal bands began with metal before adding folk music, Korpiklaani started with folk music before turning metal.

Turisas

A Finnish metal band from Hämeenlinna. They were founded in 1997 by Mathias Nygård and Jussi Wickström, and named after an ancient Finnish God of war. Turisas are a folk metal band, incorporating elements of power metal and symphonic metal along with frequent harsh vocals.

Alestorm is a power/heavy metal band from Perth, Scotland. Their music is characterized by a pirate theme, and as a result they have been dubbed a "pirate metal" band by many critics and their fanbase.

Sabaton

Sabaton is a power metal band from Falun, Sweden formed in 1999. The band's main lyrical themes are based on war and historical battles. This is heard in the albums Primo Victoria, Attero Dominatus, Coat of Arms, Carolus Rex and Heroes, in which all of the songs contain these motifs, except final tracks which are tribute songs to influential heavy metal bands. Lyrical content drawn from World War I, World War II and other conflicts is prevalent and includes songs about battles and leaders on all sides of said conflicts.

Eluveitie

Eluveitie describe themselves as "The new wave of folk metal". The band's style incorporates characteristics of melodic death metal combined with the melodies of traditional Celtic music. They use traditional European instruments, including the hurdy-gurdy and bagpipes, amidst guitars and both clean and harsh vocals. Their lyrics include references to Celtic mythology, particularly the Celtic Gaul village. The lyrics are often in the extinct ancient language Gaulish.

Týr

Týr is a Faroese heavy metal/folk metal band. Their subject matter revolves almost entirely around Viking lore, mythology, and history, taking their name from the Norse god of law and justice.

Seen Sabaton, Eluveitie and Korpiklaani live, guess I liked Sabaton best. At home, I love Eluveitie's Helvetios - real emotional stuff.
