I've got this pack from 1999 and the anticipation is killing me. I'll leave the decision to open it up to you people. Is it better off to remain sealed? Or open it and possibly be saddened by 11 caterpies?

If enough people choose to open it then I'll do so, vice versa to staying packaged.

Open that shit

Just imagine if there was a little black Triangle in the bottom corner. Those sell for a ton!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

i bought one off the internet and opened it the other day, it felt so good, the smell of the cards brings you right back.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't open it!

Save it and let the anticipation kill your grandchildren's grandchildren

I will never surrender it to them. I will open it or be burried with it. Haha

Don't Dead Open Inside

9 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 3

As a former collector, open it. These are the '99 version. They're not worth as much as the '95 version (which are shadowless).

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

DON'T YOU FUCKING OPEN IT

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

If I were you, I'd open it. But I open everything as soon as I get it. Mail, cookies, chips, 1999 Pokemon cards. Everything

Go see what the sealed pack price is and buy yourself something nice

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

They really aren't worth that much. Clearly he isn't hurting for money or he'd have sold it by now. Just $30-$50

Call the number and ask the dude, official people have better opinions then the sheep like us.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Option 1) Don't open it and sell it. Option 2) Don't sell it and open it. Depends on if you plan on selling it, imo.

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

There is also the chance that if opened, the cards inside could be worth a lot more than the unopened pack. Unopened pack is worth $20-30.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

Open it. It's nothing more than a conversation piece otherwise.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'd personally open it.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 7

Same. But monetarily speaking, I'm ok. Not great, but ok. Also, what's the point of having a toy if you don't play with it?

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

I have one unopened too. Yeah...you shouldn't

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Open it! What good is an unopened deck of playing cards??

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 7

It's monetary value

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

$200 if 1st edition / $20 if 2nd.. it's barely go out for a nice dinner money.

I like Taco Bell, so those are good numbers for me.

9 years ago | Likes 397 Dislikes 14

Worth about 40 bucks and value is depreciating not escalating

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

No it's definitely going up. Especially if it's not opened. The only thing that would be more expensive is a Pikachu or a Charizard print

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Whyyyy?

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

It is worth a whole lot more unopened.

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 5

With so many things that started out collectible they're worth hardly anything. I have silver coins from the 40s basically worth their...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Metal value because people know they were collectible and every collector has thee or four of them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's the beauty of an unopened pack, though. Nobody knows what is in it. So it could be a lot of Commons or it could be several

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eh, like 30 bucks. Worth probably nothing open, but eh.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

what if theres a charizard in there

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

It's worth 40 bucks, you're full of shit.

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 3

Only $40?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They're on ebay for as little as 20.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Open it. You could get a blue eyes white dragon

9 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 6

Could I get all parts of exodus too???

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

I hear the Moses card is pretty tight

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have 5 unopened packs of 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee hockey cards. Could contain a Wayne Gretzky rookie card worth $500K. Tempting? Damn right.

9 years ago | Likes 424 Dislikes 3

WTF bro, open that shit. Would you buy lottery tickets, then wait for them to expire?

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 13

The packs are worth about $5K each based on the odds of finding one. I'm too afraid to sell. And the value increases every year.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Man that is wild.

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Sell those. Reinvest the money. Profit.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Here's what you do. Save your game. Open them, then if there isn't one, reload.

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

Haha nice one.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Then open again to see if a randomizer was programmed. If not reload again. And then hate life. What is life without randomness?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

BE A MAN, FRANK! GOD DAMNIT!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My old baseball coach got his kids to collect as many as they could at school. Back then they weren't worth a lot but coach was hopeful.

9 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 1

He ended up with almost a 100 of them. Put 20 each for his 3 kids in a safety deposit box and didn't touch them until Gretzky retired.

9 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 3

Coach has died since but his kids are all wealthy now. Wish I hadn't traded all my Gretzky cards for Stan Smyl cards.

9 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

What do you gain by leaving it unopened, is it really worth more to collectors unopened than the combined value of the cards inside?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

99% likely to be yes. Only a few cards from the base set would be worth more than an unopened pack.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Correct - very few cards are worth more than a few cents. I have a 1 in 5.7% chance of finding a card, and there's no guarantee it's mint.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DO NOT OPEN THAT!

9 years ago | Likes 1914 Dislikes 46

Fucking moron so its worth a certain amount sealed but if he pulls a fucking shiny charizard then yes confirmed you a moron

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 18

FUCK THAT! OPEN THAT BITCH!

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

No

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

They aren't rare, you can get them on eBay. I picked up 20 last year and opened them all just because I wanted to

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But why doe?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How much is it worth ?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I did the math and this worth approximately $1.27 + $2.23

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Judging from the comments around $40.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I REPEAT!!!!! "DO NOT OPEN THAT!"

9 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 6

Why?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It's actually more valuable closed

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It's $20 on ebay, and there's a decent enough chance @OP can get a rare enough card to make that back selling them on ebay

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I REPEAT AGAIN!!!!! "DO NOT OPEN THAT!"

What, think about their decisions?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the local game shops around me does this and takes those packs out to open themselves. Yeah, I've stopped going to them forever.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do this.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Unless it contains a first edition charizard, opening costs value

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How's being smart working out for you?

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

Didn't every pack have at least one holo?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not not in the original packs

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not back then.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can confirm that not every pack I bought had a holo

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But mooooommmm!

9 years ago | Likes 424 Dislikes 5

Dude it's worth $40 at most. The nostalgia of opening it is priceless. Fuck these mint-condition purists

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

It's not worth all that much. Open it. It's not shadowless or first edition. I bought 3 for 30 not long ago

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sell it, it might be worth a pretty penny.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your children can sell it when your dead for tons of moneys

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Open the shit out of that and love every god damn moment of it!!!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Mom joke?

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

No just been hanging out with dad too much probably

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Open it. Post pics

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Put that in a trophy box or something, years from now like 2045 it might be worth thousands.

9 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 1

if you kept it for 46 years I dont think you would like to sell it for thousands, nostalgia its a hell of a drug

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And in 2045 thousands might be worth... hundreds!!!!

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Or like tree fiddy

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

About tree fiddy, no more, no less

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It's worth way more money closed!!! People spend over 500-1000 on these sometimes.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

This packs are shadowless first edition packs. This is called an unlimited pack that is worth around 35-40 dollars

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I didn't know this! Thank you for the info!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like that you know more than most, but this pack isn't worth more than 20$ I'd say

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those* packs (as in the 500 to 1000 dollars packs)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lemme tell you i got a sealed box of 36 of those badboys innit. Its tempting to sell but the nostalgia...

9 years ago | Likes 233 Dislikes 2

Dude, you sell that to someone else's nostalgia, right now!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How much? :)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But are they 1st edition?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A 1st edition English base set booster box is worth 10 gs

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a German base set though

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

In German! Makes my nostalgia hit even harder!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

*sauerkrat high-five*

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Duuuuude. I want.

9 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Y'all are making me want to go buy some, a temptation I've been resisting a couple months now

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Give into it, its worth it. I look at and grab my Display almost every day. Im proud of myself, not having it opened until now

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

396 potential Caterpies ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

9 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

That bear! Agh! Koala?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely sell it. You could get minimum 1300 and max around 1500. It all depends on the condition of the box. I'd open it tho. Just me tho

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

Sealed product is almost always worth more, best you can do for opening from this box would be a grade-able charizard

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not even English. Wouldn't get half that amount for them

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, what would a German want with an English Set though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably nothing. They can get a complete German set for much cheaper than an English one though

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very true I didn't see that first. I would say around 1000 still.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whats it worth in 10+ years though... what would also be fun: open it with add. 2-3 guys, build decks from it and just play, like old times

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

That'd be cool, wait until you're like 70 and during breakfast in the nursing home be like "hey who remembers when pokemon released?"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That sounds awesome, but can I wait that long?! I still know doing the "Gym-Challenges" in the card shop as a 10 year old. Sigh...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That sounds awesome, but please use sleeves if you do!
