Someone flagged up in the comments that they feel uncomfortable when they see traits of their relative that they don't get on with appearing in their face as they age. For anyone else out there feeling like that, or for someone in the position like me, of finding yourself resembling a family member who has abused you, I just wanted to share what my therapist told me when I experienced this: "She got her face from genetics, just like you. That nose may be your great-great-grandmother's! Your eyebrows might be your great-aunt's! You don't know where all your genetics come from, but your mother certainly didn't invent them, and she doesn't have a monopoly on them. Enjoy your face and body, they are YOURS, and they are gifts from many people, not just one." It really helped me to hear that, and I hope it helps anyone else out there too!
