Well, who would have thought that the countries against which Trump launched the trade war would react like this.

I bet them all nintendo weebs who did not vote start caring now

Breaking News: Trump signs executive order instructing Nintendo to send a single Nintendo Switch 2 system with Mario Kart World to the White House.

Not in Canada eh!!

Strap in for a rough ride - If this was truly about improving the economy, he would of worked to get legislation passed that disallowed the offshoring of support staff. We have a surplus of actually qualified and talented IT individuals who are out of work due to offshoring. Bringing those jobs back /would/ allow for more tax revenue, help the average person, and also make contacting tech support a better experience. Nothing against foreigners, but the accented English is hard to understand.

Is America Great Again, yet?

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If Americans can’t vote responsibly, we don’t get to have our toys. I’m good with that.

Have an emergency management meeting this week. If the tariffs hold we need to cut significantly from our budget to make things work. Medium sized family owned company. People likely going to lose their jobs. This is who these things hurt - the small companies.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

First they came for our automobile components, but I said nothing, because I was not planning to buy an automobile this year...

11 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Who cares? Nobody should "Pre-Order" any kind of consumer goods anyway, and I wasn't going to buy it in the first place. I care about the food, gas, and other necessities that are blowing up in price because of his stupid fucking ass. I can't wait for him to fucking drop dead! Naturally or not!

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Nintendo was going to up their prices anyway. The other publishers just let out a sigh of relief since Nintendo chose to be the first ones to do it, now they can blame it on the tariffs as a cover. They're also quintupling down on the whole "you don't own these now 80+ dollar games we rarely ever have a sale for"

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

So you won't be getting a Switch 2, you're saying?

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

MAGAts will probably claim Nintendo is “woke” and try to make their own gaming system that barely works (if at all).

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We have barely working (if at all) gaming system at home.

Good! Games will continue to be at a more reasonable price for a bit longer now. Fuck Nintendo and their shit-ass pricing for their subpar first-party titles!

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 13

All the big corpo nintendo simps don't care. They have their wallets and downvotes out. Fuck nintendo for what they did to Palworld, and fuck them for upping their prices with or without tariffs.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm afraid that if the tarifs are higher than they expected, that means the prices are likely to be higher, not lower.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Honestly good though, they should retaliate, companies like Nintendo have a lot of power to put pressure on Trump and on Republicans and on our government in general to put a stop this shit.

11 months ago | Likes 303 Dislikes 1

the trump/gop tariffs r costing more than media reports. every business has to allocate employee time to figure out what the tariff's will do to their business models. take this times every business in the world it's wasting i'd guess $5 trillion in employee/labor/resources. Seeder interview it has nothing to do with "tariffs" in the first place. https://www.youtube.com/live/0hEWc5ahzjU?si=YjtLQtQMJEIQx-GM&t=1355

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It’s less about putting pressure on trump, and more about not knowing their costs. They can’t sell consoles for $449, and then discover that they can’t actually import them and make a profit. They want to know that any console they sell will be at a price that pays for tariffs at the time they import them.

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

This isn't retaliation. It's a company that expected maybe 20% tariffs at worst on Vietnam and instead got 49% and are now trying to figure out how the numbers work out.

11 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

The only thing worth putting pressure on Trump and his goons is a hydraulic press. Squish them into paste

11 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Sure… Nintendo… Let’s hope Nintendo will stop Trump project 2025…

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

By how ? Not selling consoles isnt going to hurt the us as much as you might think and as far as i know most Nintendo employees life and work in Japan...

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think it's less about putting pressure and more about needing time to plan their business approach, especially as Trump is being very volatile. They need to balance the MSRP so retailers can make a profit, while keeping sales high enough. If the tariffs change, so do the retailers' profit margins.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

*put a stop to this shit

This comment made my day.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ha, do you think Trump cares? Actually... do you even think Trump knows what video games are? Trump is a oversized toddler, as far as he is concerned existence starts and stops at things he wants or cares about.

11 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 4

But all the blinking lights and moving colours will 100% distract him, while shadow-president Elon and VP Grok gets their evil madness done.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

To be fair Muskie Is gamer (and a cheater too), so I bet he cares, let's see how this plays out

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Trump genuinely believes "well we'll just make an American Switch 2 here in America with American workers and American silicon".

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It's not about what DementoDon thinks. Its about the Nintendo will lose a lot of money if they don't. The presales was made on the assumption that the president wouldn't increase the price out of the blue. Trump wanted higher price, so that's what they get

11 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

No, I think wealthy capitalists care about losing money, and can use political pressure to get what they want, which is money and power. A different faction of wealthy people put an oversized toddler in the white house in the first place because an oversized toddler is easy to control and they wanted to use him to make money and consolidate power. They may not understand this, but that plan only works if there's a functioning economy left that still works to their benefit, which isn't guaranteed

11 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

The point of a pump and dump is to tank the economy as hard as possible so they can buy low.

I struggle between two responses in those cases. Ignore or ask once. I usually ask one question, usually get ignored and go on. Just not really sure which is the better way regarding the fuckwits.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Since I’m always ready for a good internet fight, I would try the second option. I would rather take my anger out on strangers than on people I know in real life.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fair enough! And I think asking a question can be done in different ways too. Maybe you know the other is not acting in good faith or maybe you are just genuinely curious and want clarification. Can be a bit hard to formulate an opinion with 500 characters.

Live in Mexico as an expat and definitely seeing the fallout. Massive delays for any product shipped to me from US, delays for travelers and tariff fallout for import/export.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What’s the difference between an expat and an immigrant?

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a great question. Expats generally keep their initial citizenship and may or may not seek dual citizenship, but generally not required. Immigrants are generally seeking asylum from their original country. Lot more but that's basic

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So do you have like a visa or something?

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Mexican Residency now. Visas are initially good for 6 mo and then you need to leave for a day, then renew. Residency gives you unlimited stay in country and after five years never needs to be renewed. Initial residency requires update first three years.

In this case, fuck'em both- the Switch 2 really ramps up the "you don't really own this" vibe Nintendo loves so much. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c78j64dqj2qo

11 months ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 24

What are you talking about? Physical games are still very much a thing, and you DO own those, wholly and entirely. Even the game cartridges that technically only contain a download code (which seems to apply to exactly zero first party games), you can loan out or sell, just as you would with a physical game, no issues. And their game sharing functionality, either locally with any game, or remotely with games you have downloaded, are on par with the most consumer friendly in the business.

11 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 20

From what I heard, the cartridge has a download code and also has a key in it so that you can't play the game without the cartridge in. Aka, if the cartridge breaks, the game ceases to work even though it's installed.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You mean, basically the way a regular game cartridge works? Oh, no! Moreover, just like a regular game cartridge, you can loan it out or sell it second hand without issues. As an alternative to game-code-in-a-box, it is approximately 420% better.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Physical cart DON'T MEAN SHIT when you have to be not just connected to the Internet, but have an active monthly paid account to play your game. You just don't get it yet do you?

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But that's not the case for Nintendo games. Never has been, and won't be for the foreseeable future. Unless, of course, the gameplay itself online multiplayer.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are reasons to hate Nintendo. Their business model for all the retro games on Switch 1/2, for instance? Stupid as shit. Their attitude and actions against vibrant communities surrounding their games, such as modding or competitive tournaments? Abhorrent at times. But this ain't it.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I guess you don't have all the information. The new "physical copy" is going to just be a dongle that downloads the game for you. The game will not be on the physical medium. You will not own the game.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess you don't have all the information. This is a possibility that Nintendo has given third party developers as a substitute for game boxes with a piece of paper with a download code on it. This way the game can actually be loaned out or sold second-hand. There is not a single indication that Nintendo is going this route with their own games. They will be fully contained on the cartridge. As will many third-party games, at least from the bigger studios, such as Cyberpunk 2077.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah you "own" that download, until the second the servers go off or the company arbitrarily decides that your license expired and you can no longer download it. As opposed to a cartridge with data on it you have, physically, and can plug and play without internet connectivity regardless of what the servers are doing. Like I enjoy Nintendo games too, but don't try and defend downloads as being pro consumer when it gives basically all the power to the company.

11 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Nintendo hasn't shown any signs of doing that with their own games, though. They still have fully physical cartridges. The download-code cartridges is literally an option Nintendo has given to third-party developers who want to distribute it in a second-hand-market friendly way yet doesn't quite have the resources to make compete cartridges. It is literally a total improvement in almost every way compared to the dowload-code-on-paper-in-a-box that many other developers do.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

No it's not. You don't need those still plugged in to play.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Right? Which game was....The Crew? I think? That when they decided to kill the servers and such, they literally had the game removed from people's game libraries? I seem to recall something like that..

11 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The Crew was an online game. When they took down the servers, the game became literally unplayable (which is its own issue, see https://www.stopkillinggames.com if you happen to be an EU citizen and want to help stop it). That's not the discussion here. The discussion here is about download codes and how they have an inherent unknown expiration date. Not the game, mind you. Just the ability to use the code to download the game.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If physical games are still an option for those who don't like downloads, is it a problem that those of us not interested in physical copies can use downloads? Not trying to argue against you, but trying to understand your own argument.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

That's the thing. Physical games are not an option anymore. The cartridges don't contain the games anymore.

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

They do, though. That's literally what Nintendo still does with their own games.

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

That is straight up a lie. The Switch 2 is still using regular game cards. The new game keys thay have no data are basically an attempt to replace the Switch 1 system some devs used where you had a digital code in a box with something you can actually trade like a physical game. Also sorry about repeatedly deleting my comment, kept posting early by accident.

3 different attempts, every attempt failed. Almost like americans are terrible shots lol

11 months ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 4

Too much action hero bullshit in US culture, there are plenty of ways to ensure you kill your target no matter how well protected; you only need two things, patience and a willingness to sell your life for theirs. Anyone who tries to assassinate a presidential candidate at that range is hoping to be arrested and achieve fame via eternal infamy. A basic explosive would have been a superior choice, as would a high powered pistol at point blank range, or any concealable fully automatic like a 1/

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Mac10 or Tec9 or Uzi. Each attempt has gone for the Hollywood shot, which completely ignores the man's biggest weakness; we know alot about him. At his age with his health conditions at his weight; you didn't need a perfect shot. You just needed to do enough damage that saving him was impossible. 5 shots or a hail of shrapnel to the torso and his own poor lifestyle will finish the job regardless of your skill with a weapon. 2
