It is extremely different from Chan's usual fare. He himself said, "I just wanted to do something different."

Martin Campbell directed and he also did Casino Royale, so you can expect some visceral fight scenes, quick, dirty, and to the point.

Chan commands the screen in every scene he's in, but this is not an action/comedy, unless you think the word "fuck" is funny sounding in an Irish accent (I do). This is a solid action/crime drama, gritty and shockingly brutal. you can think of it as "The Dark Knight" of Jackie Chan movies.

You know how he never seems to kill anyone in his martial arts films? Well the martial arts kind of takes a backseat in many action scenes. He certainly shows his moves. He's still got it. But he actually fucking kills people in this one.

I give it a solid 3 out of 4 stars. Definitely worth your time.

My first reaction upon hearing the synopsis was "So it's John Wick, but with Jackie Chan and his daughter instead of a dog." Instantly want.

Solid 5/7

Saw it myself and thought it was really great, he played the role very well; total bad ass!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The past 10 years he has a lot of serious movies in his filmography "Shinjuku Incident" is pretty brutal too. He's not comedy actor only.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's in a glass case of emotion.

Can't wait to see Not Gerry Adams, get rekt by Jackie

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I saw the trailer. Is it or is it not basically Taken, with Jackie instead of Liam? (and a dead girl instead of a rescue)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kind of? The biggest difference is that the bad guys are more relatable and there is a story instead of "They took my daughter"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The makeup crew had to make him look older for the role, he was 63 at the time.

I'd give it all stars no matter the grading system. Believeable. A must see. Must own

Welp, I'm gonna be the guy who boycotts Chan's movies for his support of the Chinese Communist Party. The CCP be denying Hong Konger rights.

Jackie chan vs the IRA. I really want to see this.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you converted that score to 5ths we talking 3/5 or 4/5?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It's a completely random person's opinion, I don't think a precise scoring system is quite needed here.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For those who aren't aliens and rate on the five-star system: 3.75/5.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I was wondering why they'd use a 4 star rating system. Aliens explains that. Thank you.

New police story was pretty serious and darker then 97% of his movies. if its anything like that ill probably like it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What about Shinjuku Incident?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

New Police Story is so different to other JC movies. Seems so underrated for me. Dark, serious and just little bit humour. Great movie.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have always wondered what it would look like if Jackie unleashed his dark side

8 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 6

This movie is it!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Police Story was somewhat dark.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I was disappointed when I found out Jackie didn't even voice his own character in that show.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man, I want more Jackie Chan animated show episodes.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Best start collecting those Dragon Balls then, eh sport?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thats why everyone like him. he is light side. A jedi master if u will

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I saw him do it once in a Chinese movie that was playing at 1am. I was shocked. Shocked, I say!

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

But what does the other guy say?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who the fuck rates something out of four lmao

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

OP just did.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

People that rate stuff and whatnot.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do.. do people not remember how movies are rated in professional reviews? A 4 star scale is the most common grading system used for film.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Never seen a four star rating system, ive only ever seen 4 or 10 for movies. Hell, IMDB is out of 10 rofl

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IMDB hasn't always been there, you used to have to get your movie reviews from newspapers. Ehhhh..!! Shonny!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why 3/4? Can we just use the standard 5 please people

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

3/4 is 75%. 4/5 is 80% and 3/5 is 60%. I guess it's to be accurate?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5/7 is 100% and a perfect score.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5/7

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Around here 10 is standard when judging things. We should standardise all standards! I propose 11.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Round here it's actually out of 7, 5 being the highest achievable rating

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Who uses a four star scale

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

"I loved it. I give it a solid 75%."

Ebert did

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_(classification)#Films You're welcome to not trust film critics, but 1-4 stars is the standard.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A movie starring Jackie Chan & Pierce Brosnan called "The Foreigner". . . . Who is the foreigner?

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

That would depend on the location, wouldn't it?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Depends on your PoV. The vast majority of American movies star only foreigners from mine :) http://www.imdb.com/list/ls070772970/

If it were last week, it would have been only 23 as the last actress just appeared in the new Blade Runner. =)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

With that low amount of Finns involved, it's always super weird to hear Finnish spoken in foreign movies. "Wait, what? Did I just hear...?"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well it takes place in the UK so you tell me

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Given that Pierce Brosnan is Irish, I still have no clue.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same! I grew up on his films, will be excellent to see him in something gritty, similar to the Shinjuku Incident. That was not comedic!

Same here! I thought it was really great, completely different than his usual movies but he KILLED it!
