I remember seeing this kinda thing during a partial eclipse, sometime in the early 90s. So strange!

It looks like someone took a stamp tool and spammed it in photoshop

Just search eclipse + tree, lots of examples there. The url is too long to copy/paste here. Now I'm planning to check tree shadows for it.

Thank you! Last time I saw this was 94. I've been telling people about this exact effect.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me too!! But no one knew what I was talking about. And now I know I am not crazy!

The reflection of the sun makes it look like that house is on fire.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Luckily I live in one of the best spots for it, eastern Idaho

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You sure it's not on fire?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A treeclipse you say?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Underrated.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thought it was a painting at first then realized it was the Camera obscura action that created all this beauty.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, that is certainly not what that is

Are these those solar snakes we see during eclipses?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought those were the souls of he deceased.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Small holes between tree leaves letting sunlight hit the white shed wall are just a replica of multiple shoebox-pinhole cameras.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ohhhhh so that explains the eclipsed moon shapes! Been wondering that for 25 years!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Give more Fakes!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's crazy how fire does that

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what we in the cable industry call a pole job

August 21st and 22nd Imgur will be inundated with eclipse photos. It will probably take up half the front page.

I'll post pictures of the first and last riot occurring in small town with waaaayyyyy too many people for it to handle. And the cult deaths.

They're even throwing a festival called Moonstock with artist such as Ozzy and Five Dinger Deathpunch.

Look directly at the sun during an eclipse to get the full effect

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every time I've had a chance to see an eclipse in person...

8 years ago | Likes 1375 Dislikes 0

Got special glasses for the Venus transit. Overcast.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what I was thinking

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup. Meteor shower? Clouds. Solar eclipse? Clouds. Aliens attacking? Clouds.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aug 21st, Charleston, S. Carolina, crossing my fingers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw an awesome one in person... but I can't prove it because I stuffed up the solar filter for my camera and all my pictures were streaky.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I was hyping up a trip to see the upcoming full one, and the idea that clouds could ruin the whole thing never crossed my mind...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes every damn time

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Once. I saw it for real once. No clouds, nothing. Perfect day. Every other phenomenon (comets, aurora, meteor showers etc) - ALWAYS clouds.

Really hoping Oregon is sunny on Aug 21. I have work off to go see it and everything.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Going to South Carolina for it. I'm hoping for good weather.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Got one coming to the Mid West on August 21st. Fingers crossed!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually it's going to go through several states, from Oregon to South Carolina. Missouri to Tennesee it will be the longest period. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We drove 500 km in South Africa to see the full eclipse in 2002 ... Damn clouds.

8 years ago | Likes 125 Dislikes 0

how far is that in MericaMiles?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Multiply km x .62 to get miles. Ex: 100km = 62miles

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Or the sun.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

City light pollution probably doesn't help

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same thing a few hours down- everyone gets so excited for solar events and I never understand why, because we can NEVER see them.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When I moved to chicago my brain was confused when it would be freezing cold yet it was sunny. I'm used to sunny = 2 months of summer.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It took me a moment to understand what you meant by that, since people have done such a great job of ruining that word.
