#1 Whatever Rosamund Pike did for “Gone Girl” was worth it. That movie still messes with my head. Such an amazing film.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Had a cousin that use to be a Black Jack dealer on a river boat. Not the first time I've heard of MJs tips.

Wow, what a story Mark

Literally my first thought when I saw the title

It bums me out that Michael Jordan is a douche bag based on many fan stories.

Don't you dare demanding citation on internet facts! Internet facts are more facts than any facts are. That's a fact!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Can confirm that these facts are factual. Source: I'm from the Internet.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sounds like an indie band, The Hot Pink Slugs!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Abrams isn't the only tank that can do that. The leopard 2 also does that.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Multifuel engines are requirement for tank design for decades. Even good old WWII T-34 was run on gas mixed with oil when they had no better

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Abrams uses a multi-fuel engine design, a similar engine has been in use since the '50s. Gasoline requires motor oil to be added.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If I compare the same HP engine in the Leopard 2, it uses about half the fuel, is not so loud and hot and can even run on vodka.. so..

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The American M1 Abrams' engine can be fueled on alcohol alone. The Russian T-90's crew can be fueled on alcohol alone.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Multi fuel engines in military vehicles are not rare. Many trucks have them too, in many nations

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fun fact the M1 runs off of a gas turbine engine! Gas turbines have huge power to weight ratios so these applications are great for them

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I know some of them are. Perpetual stews were a thing, the third wave thing is real and so is the one about the M1 Abrams.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They actually are all taken from r/TodayILearned. Next week we'll have Tic Tacs, Lynyrd Skynyrd, send Canola oil.

#6 An “extinct” volcano? So...it no longer around anymore? It has died off never to be heard from again? Or maybe “inactive” volcano??

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 8

Dormant?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All those 'facts' and it's the definition of an extinct volcano that gets you! (It's one that hasn't erupted for 10,000 years I think)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can't speak to the source, but "extinct" is a very specific term in volcanology. Basically the magma chamber solidified, it's dead.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Ahhh.... thank you. I am in computers and cryptography. Volcanology is out of my league. However, Vulcanology is right up my alley!

#2 Modern tanks are pretty much all multifuel. That's a very logical requirement. And not that hard to do with gas turbine engine.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And other diesel aircraft engines.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I cannot think of modern diesel aircraft engine, actually. Maybe there are some, but not much.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know Continental Motors makes diesel piston engines for general aviation aircraft.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They do indeed. Though the solution is not that popular. Most of piston aircraft are still gas, ain't they?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup.

Isn't kerosene jet fuel in itself?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

They are each one step away from the other in the refining process, ie: change in viscosity/volatility, except gasoline which is higher.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The composition is slightly different. Though these are pretty close.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jet fuel, kerosene, and diesel are all the same fuel prepared slightly differently. I'd be surprised if the same engine that runs them -

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

- would also run regular unleaded without issue, though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it is a turbine engine, it would run on ferret carcases if you blended them

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Soo now i know what i should try one day

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It might take a few thousand ferrets though

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

What I don’t understand is how would it not boil out? Cast iron pot over fire? I’d think it’d be bone dry in a couple hours

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well if you keep the temperature lower it'll stay warm but not boil out, then you'd heat it when you add ingredients so they cook properly

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Plus you add ingredients as you have them so adding water to it everyday to keep it from boiling out is something that's doable.

I heard that Michael Jordan is an absolute cheap ass. He won't spend his money on anything.

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 4

Damn you people, tipping shouldn't even exist. The restaurant/casino should pay for it's own waiters.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But that's a pretty common theme among incredibly wealthy people. You don't stay rich by spending that shit lol

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

But tipping a $20 wouldn't break him, and would be appropes. Jordan is one of the richest pro sports players of all time. Worth $1 billion.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm not American, so I don't quite get the whole tipping thing, but isn't a $5 tip for bringing one drink a pretty decent amount?

8 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 2

$5 for a single drink is above and beyond. That usually gets you attention from the bartender for the rest of the night.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It would be but they were both very rich men and the point of Vegas for rich people is to show off extravagantly.

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 6

Also they are likely in the high roller area. Waitresses would be specified for that area as pro servers, tipping $5 would be an insult.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

$5 for one drink is a lot. I'm pro tipping and I think expecting more than 20% is rude on the servers part, I don't care how wealthy the

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Patron is. Even in Vegas that drink is max $20. $5 tip is more than enough.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That wasn't my point. All I'm stating is Michael Jordan is a cheap ass. He won't spend his money anywhere.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Anywhere else, probably, but in Vegas the drink would be ridiculously overpriced. Might be accurate tip rate.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Normally drinks are free in casinos if you're gambling.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

hunerd buks fur a drank? Sounds not free to me. But it Was someone else's Johnny Cash, so yeah, free!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They bring you the drinks for free the tip was entirely for the waitress not to pay for the drink.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah I think so. I don’t tip that much for a $20 meal

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

If the service is spectacular and friendly...I would...and I ain't rich.

Practically mandatory in Germany.

And in Denmark... That ending tho

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

The image here is a still from the German remake, which is quite good.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Its wrong to call it a remake, its just based on the same experiment and same novel. Its not a remake of a previous movie.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wouldnt call peter jacksons tolkien movies "remakes" either.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So, was the original in English? Because my dim memories say it was English, but ppl here are talking about a German version. Are there 2?

Oh so he must be a democrat.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have heard of him not tipping at all

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Good, because tipping is as retarded as the imperial measurement system.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 15

The system may be fucked, but not tipping won’t change that and people who work those jobs can make less than minimum wage without tips

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

https://www.dol.gov/whd/minwage/q-a.htm Legally they can't be paid less than minimum wage.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ah but was it in vegas?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Today I learned you don't know how to math.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Although it is fair to point out that Jordan is known in NBA circles as very miserly toward service

8 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 2

Also, massive gambling debts and a cheapskate in general

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Black people

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 13

Well $5 for a drink is like nicer than I could afford

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the restaurant biz the servers refer to black people as Canadians.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Real talk, as a server, some stereotypes are that for a reason. I still try not to prejudge a table though and provide the best care I can.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

In my 3 years of pizza delivery I no shit only had 1 black dude tip me. Definitely a true stereotype.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Did he lube up before plowing your ass?

I’d have slapped him “that’s how we deal with people who take a hundred dollars from us, Wayne”

I hope you like Dave Semenko because he'd decimate you

Then Marty McSorley would have come running to beat you to a pulp.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Any Wayne is Mr. Wayne to me.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Alfred? Is that you?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds like this is Mr Lucius Fox to me, Alfred would usually refer to him as Master Wayne

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I stand corrected.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So for #1, is there a reason they couldn't shoot all the skinny scenes THEN shoot all the fat scenes? Or vice versa?

8 years ago | Likes 896 Dislikes 1

Yes, many of these are absolute bullshit.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Probably because scheduling is maneuvering the whole team and not just her.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Read #1. Immediate up vote for Rosamund Pike. No need to read rest of post.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I didn't notice her weight difference at all in the movie..

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

Me neither. I was too focused on how batshit insane she was.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Or use prosthetics at least

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Gonna be honest, I’ve seen the movie a few times and didn’t realize she had a weight difference

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Piss poor planning probably.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

5 miles in 42 minutes? SHe could max an Army PT test....

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For those swearing it's not true, easily verifiable by a interview articles via google: https://www.healthista.com/rosamund-pike-gone-girl/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So she essentially was a high school wrestler for a year

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But still used a body double for shots of her ass.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Most movies are shot out of sequence. Some of the best directors shoot along the script’s timeline to get the best performance possible.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All that effort and I didn't eveb notice

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fat suits also exist, but actors and actresses crave attention

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Or there were nude scenes. Or the director demanded authenticity.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

She's also not that fasf

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also 13lbs? Motherfucker I fluctuate that much in waterweight over a dry weekend.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never noticed she changed size at all during the movie tbh

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Hmmm .... oh that's how we should have done...."

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'd think she'd just keep the weight (she looked amazing in the movie, haven't watched it but I just looked at pictures of Amy) on for >
