Vote early (and only once)! If you must do an absentee ballot, try to skip the post office and drop it in your local ballot box. You can also send it via an express mail delivery service. If you vote in person, go early to your polling place, bring a folding chair and snacks, wear a mask of course, and assume you need to take the day off work because there may be very long lines.

You can register to vote within your state by contacting its board of elections. I’m told that some states make it hard to register to vote. If you go to vote.gov it will direct you to your state’s register to vote page. I know people who successfully used iwillvote.com to get to the right site and/or forms to download to register. (If asked for your email address you can use a burner email address to avoid any spam risk).

If you have already registered to vote, please double check with your state board of elections, vote.gov, or iwillvote.com to make sure that you have not been purged from voter rolls, as some states have been removing legally registered voters without informing them.
