To be fair, the word "conservative" has been coopted to mean fascist. A conservative is someone who simply believes in slow incremental change or preservation of traditions or institutions. Republicans are probably less conservative than Democrats where Republicans want to change institutions to prior years which is a regressive value or want to undermine or remove democracy, again not conservative stance. There are many ways to be conservative that even the most progressive can agree on.

I voted for McCain. I will say Obama was the most charismatic president since Kennedy and I very much wish the environmental projects he pushed had greater success. Also his election proved how racist a lot of Republicans were, just better at hiding it til then. Those politics really seem so quaint now, except equal access to marriage.
