Goodnight, sweet prince

Today I lost my best friend of 14 years. A friendship like ours deserves a tribute post so here goes. I still remember vividly the first time I saw you when I received you on my 8th birthday. You were standing and staring at the wall of the cardboard box you were in like the doofus you always were. I'll never forget how you looked at me the first time, and how you looked at me the same way just before passing. I'm not a religious man, but I truly hope that I'm wrong and one day you'll be looking at me with those handsome eyes once again. Saying goodbye to you was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but as hard as it was I'm so glad I was there to keep you comfortable as you passed on. You would have done the same for me. Goodnight, my sweet prince. I love you, and hope this isn't a goodbye but just a see you later.
