You forgot the jackasses that complain about trade-in prices.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our gamestop isn’t set up for streetpasses :(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The biggest problem with every Gamestop I have gone to, none of the employees ever seem to know nearly as much as they should.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the guy whos there to hit on the girl workers because they are the easiest way to find girls who like video games. Not that i did that..

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's one poorly-aged 46 year old

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This will be reposted long enough for the PS5 guy to not look like a madman.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The parents that are there for 3 seconds to drop off their kids for the “free babysitting service.”

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got the new high tier membership, and it's been well worth it.. I get at least $10 off preowned stuff.. It's cheaper than online..

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm usually the guy griping about Nintendo being stingy shits on their used game prices.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah but no used means no renting either, renting saves me a fortune, keep for as long as I want for much less money.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

May I add myself. "Dumbfounded guy who goes there just to look and ends up leaving with three games because he found random gems for cheap."

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am willing to wager that most of these people do not exist, or are hardly even remotely common to be called "a type of gamestop people".

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What about the woman who is there to pre-order the new Zelda with the rolled-up change she's saved over the course of eight months?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah. Worked there for a year, nice job. Corporate blows, but what can you do. And no one smart expects full ROI on used games.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

No one expects to make money off old games, but to get 5% of the original price on a 4 year old game is a spit in the face.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

I suspect they screw you on the trade-ins because that second hand game is just going to take up shelf space forever and turn no profit.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I still refer to GameStop as FuncoLand, and this is not going to change any time soon.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In highschool I was the weeb discretely trying to pick up his preorder with the day one bonus edition daki cover while on lunch break.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What games came out with Daki covers??

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like how non-confused women are not represented here, because it is accurate that you will not see us at Gamestop.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

$50 for $600 worth of games? What, are they all gold plated??

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

meanwhile i don't waste time with physical games anymore. Digital Downloads are just way better

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Except they're a shitty way to give a gift, especially for older people.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

wait why would you use a game as present? gift cards or just plain money are far better because then you can choose what game to you want

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea fuck GameStop. I only buy second hand games

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about the non-gamer who just browses the threads, I mean store, to stay almost conversant on the lingo?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can someone explain the no used games thing?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When the XBone got announced they initially said that they would be tether copies of games to your console, so it would not work on any. . .

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Other, and couldn’t therefore be traded in or bought second hand.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What would be the point?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

To move away from used games where only retailers profit.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To force video games into the model that literally all other non-open source software markets work.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like to go in for used 360 and 3DS games since I don’t really have updated systems. And if they have any decent Pops. And to kill time.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I still buy games directly from gamestop. Is it cheaper to buy it digital? Sometimes. But do I prefer physical discs? Yeah.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I paid about $400 for 150 games on steam and about half of them are big AAA titles. Cheaper? Oh definitely.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Correction: I used humblebundle a lot back when it was better, not just steam.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But do they have Battletoads?

8 years ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 4

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

We did at my store. It wasn't for sale just for that call alone lol.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Manphibians?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. Rare Replay has it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That thing is fuckin packed with good shit!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're the same kid that still says stuff like "over 9000" and "the cake is a lie" huh?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Not so much, only when it's particularly appropriate.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ah yes, the beginning of the internet

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was hardly the beginning, youngster.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It was pretty close. I’m 27 lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm 40 lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Wait I used to work at GameStop and got calls about this all the time... why? I've always wondered if there was actually some reason...

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Unpopular opinion: The XBone game plan was actually superior, and people only bitched cause they didn't understand how it worked. (1/x >>>)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The only thing is you couldn't sell the games later. Which devs already block you from doing by locking you out with DLC/keys.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was also a good alternative to the PS4 approach, would have given people more choice than just 2 almost identical systems.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You were going to be able to share your games (incl. discs), for free, with your friends. Including DLC. (2/x)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could access your games from any xbox in the world just by logging in, even if they weren't digital downloads. (3/x)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would still greatly prefer that over the secondary market.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

$50 for $600 in games? were they having a double trade-in special?

8 years ago | Likes 385 Dislikes 2

I was thinking the same thing if he bought them all new and were AAA titles that is like 10 maybe 11 games so he got almost 5 bucks a game

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

(1/2) Bought a game at gamestop for 14$ it was shit so I went back to the store the day after to see how much I could get back - 17 cents!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That’s new vs used. GS policy is much more relax with used. As soon as you open a new game. You just lost at least 50% value.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2/2) said no thanks to the Gamestop-guy and threw it in the garbage bin when we returned home

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You couldn't just get a refund? I've done that before.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They put some kind of tape on the case to seal it. If you break the seal they won't give you a refund

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe it's your store. I remember playing games only to find that they're trash and they refunded me, albeit young me did it w/ store cred.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So maybe they'll give you that at least? I dunno. I rarely buy from GameStop nowadays.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the difference of new vs. pre owned

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No lie, Gamestop was having a Switch trade-in deal recently, and with My Super-Expert-Master-Pro Membership +$5 more per game, I was (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

able to trade in Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles, after beating both, for $94. I couldn't believe it. (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Because both are high demand games that can be hard to get a hold of. Low demand games no one wants will only get you a few bucks traded in

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

If you're in Seattle, look at Pink Gorilla instead of Gamestop.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

still better than the $25 they would normally give...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Which is just under half their retail price of 60. Which is how selling back works.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Must have been new releases

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unwrapped ones, perhaps

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not permitted to buy unwrapped games, as I recall. Because of the potential liability for receiving stolen goods.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That came out 30 minutes ago

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That you just bought 20 minutes ago and haven't even left the store with yet.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Allkeyshop all the games, but tbh I like having the game physically idk why but still if I want to buy a big game like FFXV, I want the disk

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

I'm ALL about physical media. Takes up less space, and there are some interesting editions out there

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I enjoy having a physical stack of games next to my tv. Makes me feel like I actually bought something

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The tinybuild post has been taken down, but please read up on why key shops are most often fraudulent (or encourage fraud).Indie devs suffer

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah just remember with greymarket that allkeyshop only scans for you, you need to do research on the website you choose. G2a, kinguin and

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Cdkeys.com I've never had issues with. A few of the others ive had issues with (as a g2a vendor i can guarentee you they're definitely

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The most trustworthy there. They rail vendors more than eBay)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I feel the same way. I'm going to physically buy the new God of War and Soul Calibur games.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always go get the hard copy. I only download if they happen to be sold out. Happened with metal gear survive.

Ferris Bueller's Day On

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'll take Global Thermonuclear War for 600.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's an older reference, but it checks out.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I liked the last one. Barely made it out though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What is this from?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Wargames", a John Badham's movie (1983).

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everyone here's read "Ready Player One", right?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fine.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun fact, there's actually a game on Steam that works a lot like Joshua would. Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations on Steam

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Only way to win is not to play.

8 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 0

How about a nice game of chess?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

put the x in the middle

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You...might be terrible at chess.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hackerman never played chess with WOPR

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let's play global thermonuclear war. That sounds like a fun one.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

How about a nice game of chess?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe some tic tac toe?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Trump, no.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've never stopped wanting to play guerrilla engagement

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

aren't they all?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

gotta love it when the circle ends on cities :D

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn't that just like Contra?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or did you mean the NES game guerrilla war? That was a top down shoot em up. Contra was a side scroller. #VeryFunAtParties

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So I had the game inside me all along... that business scrambled my noggin

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know the internet. I still go to Gamestop with my son. It's kind of enjoyable old-school.

8 years ago | Likes 545 Dislikes 13

Besides, only reason people still go to GameStop is for used games and merch.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a pawn shop...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of sorts, I agree. But a lousy one ;-)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always end up in conversations about upcoming games with bored workers while I browse.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We have a chain here called "Just Press Play" that has "retro" systems and games, as well as modern stuff. I like them a lot better.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like to wander through the rows of old cartridges and spend a few dollars to try out some shit no one's ever heard of.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We got one of those up here. Gameover. Though, they've been going a little down hill recently due to management...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's one near me that's still properly good like they should be. (Also two that are just mediocre, but as long as the good one still

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

exists, I've got it.) Pretty good selection, not too pushy, generally quite knowledgeable. Can't complain at all about that one.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know the internet too, and DITTO!!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's still a decent place to buy used games. I got the Witcher there for $15 used whereas I would have had to buy it without seeing online.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Instant shipping on physical copies is nice. Also, if you don't do it too often you can return a game for like no reason if it wasn't great.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I sometimes go to Gamestop for whatever plushies and/or bobbleheads catch my interest.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was in a Gamestop a few months back, half the stuff they sell now is swag, like shirts & figures & other stuff you see at Hot Topic

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What did they value him for?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

about three fiddy ;-)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Walking into EB Games (the Canadian equivalent of Gamestop) is among my fondest memories.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My nephew is constantly requesting older games. They've got a good online inventory tracking and make it easy for me to find them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still go too. I just try to avoid selling games there. I buy used so if I don't like a game I get my money back with in one week.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I love Gamestop - my local store has awesome staff, willing to just shoot the shit about games. Plus lots of sales on non-video-game merch

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love my local GameStop, because of stuff like that. It's nice to go in and talk to the guys running it, plus, im a sucker for collectables

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Support your local shops. I got a few local game stores that I go... but maybe Im lucky because of my area.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad calls these places and um game stores “smelly shops”. Mainly because they always smell weird (paint, teenage boys and musky).

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Teenage boys and musky is a pleonasm ;-)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Every GameStop I've visited has been horrible except for the local shop. It's the cleanest and largest and it has the nicest people of any →

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've seen. It's difficult to get less common items there except right after their release, though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can see how they're getting hurt in the digital age. The one I've gone to for years is now half (literally store space) collectibles.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's the direction they're going in, more merch. Sad that they're so over priced though.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Cause it's thinkgeek steering the wheel

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My local one is really nice simply because of the employees. I get all my console games there just to support /them/ and make sure (1/)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

that there's at least some foot traffic. The company itself can die in a fire for all I care. (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, then the employees would be out of a job, wouldn't they?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same, Some like the analog/acoustic version of game shopping. Also Dorkly knows the video game culture like i know how to be a surgeon.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Seriously, every "gamer" based comic doesn't understand the fundamentals of gaming. As long as you're not buying Sonic 06, we don't care 1

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

games you're into. Just don't be a prick. It's the 13yo assholes who just get a mic that makes us all look bad. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

How can I upvote this comment more than once? Is that possible?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is the screaming idiots who set the stereotype for every group.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The fundamentals are just playing video games that you enjoy. The rest of it is people jerking themselves over how they're a "culture", and

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

trying to draw imaginary lines in the sand to exclude people they think don't qualify as "gamers".

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Gamers are a culture. Same as Metalheads. We share a common interest and spend half of our lives playing games with other people.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

My son thinks GameStop is a total scam, he is 13 years old. Not sure why he refuses to go there but this cartoon gives me a few clues.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Stay 6 months behind, and you can play all game for like $20...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Xbox is releasing their new exclusives on game pass. So you get access to tons of games and new releases for like $100/yr

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

GameStop is basically a pawn shop that only specializes in video games.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Except for the whole pawn thing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hes right. They sell used stuff at high prices, buy used stuff at really low prices, and their main thing is pushing their membership

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Gamestop is a pawn shop. All pawn shops do this...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Might as well just go to amazon/ebay for a direct exchange of currency for used product rather than using GS as a gouging middle man.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To be honest the only way I ever traded games in was when they offered 50% extra credit on all trade ins. Always felt way more fair.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It isn't terrible if you are knowledgeable and can stand your ground with the word No. I go enough so the workers know me as

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"That guy with the goku sweater". They don't offer me anything because I am always there for a specific reason.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean they’re a business. Buy low and sell for higher is how that works. I stil think GS is bad and I’d rather go to a FLGS, but I get it.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Every used book store does the same though...?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For reference, I took some old xbox games that were pretty good to a Gamestop and was offered 17 cents, the FLGS offered 20$.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

(This was at a time when the xbox was still a thing, for clarification.)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

wow...even when I traded shit PS2 games... they offer a buck for each one... (which I agreeed, because they were shitty shovelware games)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it really depends. I got $15 for monopoly for Xbox once. $10 for some newer games. Lowest trade ins have always been for old console

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
