These are beautiful. In awe of your talent.

Kids these days honestly don't even know what a 'bit' is anymore, do they? Anything pixelated is just '8 bit'.

Turn off the Nintendo and come eat your dinner.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man it pisses me off so much being a pixel artist myself.

Ever wonder why you feel so good when its raining outside. Ive theorized its your body hitting you with dopamine to incentise you to 1/2

seek shelty in the rain. Basically its the good boy pat on the head for doing something that keep you alive. Just a thought.

too much color and dpi for 8-bit art :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I clicked trying to find items in most of these pics

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

neither 8-bit or 16-bit, but 4-bit. NES GFX were 2 bit colour with an 8 bit processor. Snes was 4 bit with ba 16bit processor

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 6

No use to try to figure totally different graphic modes. 8bit here only means the style of 8bit CPU computers/consoles. Which these are not.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This looks like VGA-level graphics, assuming it's from anything for the PC, anyway. 256 colors like 8-bit, but much more resolution.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

NES has 2 bit colour? So 2^2 is 4 so that would mean the NES would have 4 colours? That definitely isn’t right.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4 colours per sprite. 3 solid and 1 translucent

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By same logic, C64 would be called 2bit because gfx mode, but it had 16 colors so it would be 4-bit then? And no-one says VGA is 8bit.

I want these as my desktop

pixel art, none of these are actually 8 bit

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is definitely some 16-bit art mixed in!

8 years ago | Likes 127 Dislikes 5

Let's all just agree to just call it what it is: pixel art

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Most digital images are made of pixels. Some are vectors, but even they are represented with pixels.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Aren't all raster graphics technically pixel art?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to learn to make this, I have my own concepts I want to do. :C

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One way I am sure of is to take a photo and derender down the resolution to this, then edit it to add your own details and animation. >

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

> Paint.net is a good way for the first part. There's probably an Adobe product for the animations.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks. Im well familiar using paint.net I'll just have to learn the adobe and animating part thanks chief

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think the term you are looking for is "pixel art"

8 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 2

"hi-bit" is a good one too

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of Idiot Nerd Girl

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Yeah there's definitely not an 8 bit colour palette in any of these.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The last one too, just a regular painting saved with the 8bit palette (256 colours), it's painful to call this "8bit art", even if true

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

People don't know the difference, it's our job to educate them!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok sir you've got my attention...wtf is 8bit art then? P.S I'm a cat, so be brief yet descriptive

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, 8-bit colour is extremely limited, so it couldn't be anywhere near as detailed as these. They only have 256 colours to work with.
