This is one of my favourite Homebrew classes for Dnd. I didn’t make it (though I wish I did) I just post these to see what you guys think about it.

So the apothecary can make all sorts of drugs?

The bombs are a little unfair. Generally a source of damage either rolls to hit, or allows a save. Both makes it too easy to avoid damage.

I really enjoy how much D&D I've been seeing here lately.

There a PDF link anywhere?

You know I keep hearing how great 5e is but all I ever see as far as fan content is ripping off things from Pathfinder. Is it that bad?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's worse.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

"homebrew"... I see what you did there

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

please stop using pathfinder art for D&D

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

Now that we're at it can we stop using Pathfinder art for Pathfinder

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

I have played this and there are some major problems, especially with regards to action economy.

Gonna be playing one of these guys in a campaign soon. I'm looking forward to finding a way to make use of the Skinsend spell.

Brb just gonna make an alchemist with min-maxed strength and charisma that wields a peasant beating stick

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a fun class. If you have a chance, play it in your campaign!

How many bombs can your Alchemist carry at one time or per day? Or is it just unlimited?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The one posted was someone's port of the Alchemist class from Pathfinder. I'll grab my books and double check for you shortly.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

According to Pathfinder you could craft a number of bombs equal to your Alchemist level + Intelligence modifier per day. Seems fair.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that would be so cool to play

If you're into homebrew tabletop and D&D stuff, check out https://tabletoptrinketsbyjj.tumblr.com/ for items, baubles, trinkets and more

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's cool, but also you can just play pathfinder which has a better version of this and everything is free at pfsrd.com

While I agree with you, I can concede that 5e is WAY easier for beginners. It's rules light and easy to understand vs the 1456345 pf books

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, PF needs a guide if there is a newbie playing. 5e is more manageable on your own.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I cast Shatter.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

As a Dm, I HATED that spell. Ruins so many encounters. So broken.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Where’s this from? The Alchemist is my favorite Pathfinder class and didn’t know there was a DnD version.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Looks like homebrew content based on tags. Not AL legal.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Seems like a good foundation. Would like to see more potions that aren't just copies of spells. Also the classic Jekyll/Hyde mutagen build.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(Yes I know the latter is in Pathfinder, but it has its own issues)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Waaaiit...is this not the pathfinder Alchemist?

7 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 2

They used the art from pathfinder that makes it confusing.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

With 5E and PF being so established. Can they even use the Sam art...two difderent games/company. The pages look like it came out the 5E boo

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, its the much lamer version that doesn't have Jekyll and Hyde

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

And they should have used a variation of the Warlock's Spell system for Elixirs instead of that weird Brew Potions thingy.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Truth, nothing like turning Hyde, gaining a size, then beating a motherfucker with another motherfucker using improvised weapon

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

@OP got link to original or a PDF?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I tried to find one but it wasn’t there.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a fan of the pathfinder alchemist... this is an abomination. Where's the Vivisectionist? The homunculist? The Winged Marauder?

7 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

Come to think of it, where the fuck is Hyde?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could... make them as Fields of Study? Or add them as potion formulae

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But seriously, very fun class, (and way better in Pathfinder cause it's just so damn flexible).

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Just made one for a game; using the Ectoplasmic Master 'cause spooky ghoooooosts

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm doing a homunculist now, little nerfed but took Craft Poppets and refluffed them as fleshlings, it's a fun weird build.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The vivisectionist with haste, rapid reload, two weapons fighting and fast bombs means that I am THE highest DPS in my party. It's absurd.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

How are you using bombs as a vivisectionist?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vivisectionist loses bombs tho

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How many Alchemy Points do you get per level? When do they refresh? How long do bombs take to make? Does a doctor stick come with the mask?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes. Or, you decide.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1/2 your level, during a long rest. It's mentioned under the brew potions feature.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That seems to be a restriction on the total alchemy points you can spend to brew those potions, not the total you get.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the only time it's mentioned, though, and it seems to make sense with how other classes with similar resources work.

I think the issue here is that the class as presented above just isn't fleshed out, or is incompletely adapted from Pathfinder.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Other classes usually have scaling points per level when it comes to consumable resources. Like Sorcery Points or Barbarian Rages.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this for 5e?

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

5e, converted from Pathfinder.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I'm converting it to Dragon Warriors, so thanks.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What book is it in?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a homebrew, so it isn't.
