I'm proud of myself but I can't stop now

Sep 12, 2016 3:40 PM

Post after post on here inspired me to get off my fat ass and start working out again. I want to be able to run a mile in 4 and a half minutes like I could in high school.

Any advice on how to improve my diet and exercise would be appreciated. So far I've cut out all caffeine and am trying to cut out the sugar.

Wish me luck :)

I might take a before pic today and post again in a month. I haven't decided yet.

Weight loss is 90% diet, if you enjoy meat check out low carb, otherwise try my fitness pal, and don't lie to yourself

NOBODY TOLD ME THERE'D BE MATH.

I really like the couch to 5k apps. They made a huge difference for me and I'm planning on starting up again in the spring with them

Android? Or is it IOS only?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure, but if imagine it's available on both.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I found it. What would a warmup be? Just stretching? Or something else?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you go out, run/walk. Don't worry about anyone else just run longer than you did the last time. "You can do it!"

Lol I try that. I just worry about making it home when I do that.

Try following a diabetic diet. I've lost 7 kg in 3 weeks, and I'm not even trying to lose weight.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn lol.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only wholewheat bread and pasta, no fat meat, no sugar and cut carbohydrates to 1/3. Limited amount of fruit, but as many veggies as I want.

You must be high.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What gave it away?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just eat cleaner and you won't have to diet as much. Veggies/fruits, lean meats, whole grains. After a few weeks you won't crave the bad (1)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

stuff as much

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good. I wanna see you in the next speed walking olympics

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thought maybe you had cut off the "ball and chain".

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Lol nope. Never married. Single for a couple years.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible. Mostly vegan diets don't require much calorie counting.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would love to go all Steve Jobs and eat nothing but fruit but...I can't go that far lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well, Steve Jobs is dead so maybe not a good person to pick. Swap out read meat for chicken. Eead every label. High fructose is everywhere

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Try to avoid prepackaged foods. Make a point to cook. Cook one meal in a large portion to save on time.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep up the activitie. If you want a quick weight loss boost do low carb for 4-6 weeks. No longer though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're trying to lose weight, cut carbs. You won't have to totally starve yourself to burn fat.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What foods would that be? For example? Like...breads and shit?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Foods that are high in carbs include grains, pasta, bread. Highly processed food is your enemy. Think an atkin's diet. (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(2/2) Doing this, I was able to cut 10lb in 4 weeks, while being at a high fitness level. (Strongman). Also, beer. Sucks, but very carby.

I think my fastest mile was a little under 9 minutes in high school.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I took JROTC and in order to get into Air Force camp I was required to get under 4:45 and females were required 5:15 I think. I managed 4:43

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On top of the other requirements like pull ups, pushups, squats etc.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't mean to sound mean or insensitive, but did it take you an hour to walk 1300 meters? Congrats on your subsequent success though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No no no no no. That's how it was a month ago. Now I can walk 2 miles in that hour. Idk how much that is in meters.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3,216.69 meters according to Google.

Cut out un-natural sugars and sugary drinks. When your body is flooded by tonnes of sugar, it produces insulin like crazy. Insulin will>

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Regulate your blood sugar by turning excess sugar into fat directly. 180 calories in a can of coke will turn straight to fat. 180 calories >

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In peanuts or almonds will be processed much slower, and the energy is used by your body for whatever you are actually doing. Excersize is>

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Very important of course, but these days the sentiment is if you work out you can eat whatever you want. That simply isnt true.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Today is my first day of cutting all sugar from my diet. The past few weeks tjat I've been doing this I've been drinking more water but

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haven't changed my diet much. Someone mentioned a cheat day though. What about that?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get headphones and be in your own world without judgments of others. (Even though they prolly envious of your drive and ambition)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh I don't leave the house without my headphones. I don't think I'd have made it this far without them

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Slow and steady improvement. I started walking home from work this spring 3.5 miles @ 1.5 hours. Now I can do it in under an hour.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want to get to where you are. Right now I could probably walk the 2.7 miles to my job no problem...I'm just worried about getting home.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was lucky enough to have a coworker that was willing to carpool/give me a ride to work. That way I only need to walk home.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm hoping I can get something like that soon. I don't want to have to walk home in the rain lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Just keep walking. Explore the neighborhood, take diff. paths, walk with purpose, work on posture. It's got me down 40lbs the last 3 mos.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Congrats man..I do the same thing but also changed my diet severely and went from 220 down to 200 in the past 27 days

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Awesome! I'm trying to do just that but my willpower is shit so...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

267 to 224 right now. Got another 40 to go. Diet def helps

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I might go right next time just for fun. My usual path takes me up a bunch of hills. And then the return trip...ugh

The only hill I have to do every time is the one on my road but I can start going other ways. Thanks for the advice :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As much as I hate treadmills, the great part is no return trip :)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Haha my parents have one of those bikes with the things that let you walk that they want to give me. Idk the name of this equipment lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really like ellipticals. Dont give you the weird feeling of treadmills, and kinda allows for some pseudo stair climbing effect.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ahhhhhhh that's what they are. Thanks. Dad suggested using it on my off days.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Count calories and you need a cheat day.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Another guy said 1500 calories so what would a cheat day be?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A cheat day is just consuming the same amount of calories, but you give yourself a treat. Pick one thing like a cupcake or duck fat fries.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh lol.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You learn as you go. I recommend using myfitnesspal, it's helped me for the last 5 years. So long as you're honest w/ your input it works.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that like an app or something?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry but, going from what seems like a serious physical problem to coming within 15 sec of the women's world record? dont set up to fail

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

When I did it in high school that was a light jog so...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if you are a female, you would have been competing in the Olympics with times like that at a light jog.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No I'm a dude and that time was required for males in order to get into Air Force camp when I was a freshman. The fastest I've ever run was

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4:43. I just barely made it. I wouldn't have set that as my goal if I hadn't done it before.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If that's your goal-how much time has passed since you last ran that time? The body guarantees to let you down the older you get...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think what you're doing is great and keep up the hard work but I just have to say..nobody can light jog a 4:40 mile..are you 20 ft tall?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

well good luck on your goal.
